If you could remove moderation privileges from one resmod, who would it be and why?

Do we get phone a friend, 50/50 or ask the audience?

Patience. It takes a moment to make the poll.

Also, I should state that this is not a troll rather I think it would be an excellent check on resmod power if the Lindens could elect individuals and as citizens we could vote one off the list every few months.

Those options aren't in the poll, so me having patience doesn't really have anything to do with it.

Good luck tho! :)

Put it this way:

On my first week in the forums, a resmod got her nose bitten off for trying to tell us that we weren't allowed to call the pResident a bad word.

It's stuck with me.

I need clarification. I'm not sure what a "pResident" is and, when you say it stuck with you, do you mean that you left with a positive or negative impression of the resmod or those doing the biting?

Who are these people, what is a resmod, and why are they listed?

A "resmod" is a "resident moderator", a person like you or me, who is chosen by the Lindens to moderate these forums. They have the ability to edit posts, close threads, and recommend disciplinary action against other residents. They were created to decrease the cost associated with moderating the forums.

While they are a smart business move, there is no mechanism in place for the removal of resmods who are performing poorly, other than to wait for the pool to be replaced at pseudoregular intervals by the Lindens. I feel that giving residents the ability to vote off poorly performing resmod would improve the quality of moderation and empower the residents.

In a sense, yes. By providing accountability, it's a great way to discourage abuse.

Just one small detail, they do not have the ability to edit posts (see resmodgate for further detail) :)

Sorry, pResident is the term a friend came up with for Bush - and it was a negative impression, nearly dissuading me from posting in the forums until I saw that it was, ah, not taken well by others, either.

I'm curious. What is the etymology of "pResident"?

From the first election, where my friend said "he's not the president, just the resident of the white house."

Ha ha! That's the problem. I couldn't see the word "president" in "pResident". I kept repeating "pee-resident" to myself over and over. :D

It all makes sense now. Thanks for slowing it down for me this morning. :)

I'll give this a few more hours and then take it to the Lindens. I think we might actually have a viable mechanism for improving resmod accountability.

This looks like to me a viable mechanism for stirring up forum bullshit.

If you think a resmod isn't following the rules then AR the person.

I think a transparent democratic method is superior to throwing ARs into the bit bucket. Resmod power should come with accountability. If they don't feel comfortable with it, then they don't have to volunteer.

Did you start everyone off with 5 or 6 votes though?

I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that, although I'll look next time I start a poll. :)

I think this might be the beginning of the end of Strife's career as a resmod. I'd ask him to step down but the same pathology that makes him such a bad resmod most certainly makes him incapable of selflessness. I've seen this in Neufreistadt as well -- the rotten ones are impossible to shame out of office, whereas the good ones always freely retire.
