Brainstorming about how to celebrate Lesbian/Gay/Bi/Trans (LGBT) Pride in SL this month. These notes condense an hour long conversation with everyone contributing ideas and lots of back-and-forth. Sorry I can't give credit for all ideas here, just not room.

Olmy Seraph and StoneSelf Karuna, owners of sim Athena, offer Athena to use for a LGBT Pride festival at the end of June.
- Let LGBT and supportive groups set up booths, vendors are ok, give info on what they offer as a group, social events, etc.
- Provide space for creative folks to make Pride themed builds, a la a mini Burning Life. Call it Flaming Life
- Host daily events - dances w DJs, raffles, drag show, play, avatar contest, games, show and tell, queer primtionary, etc.
- Display AIDS Memorial Quilt, work with people to create new panels

Dates: June 20-27. That gives us a weekend to set up for Monday opening. Grand finale on a Monday, to avoid conflict with RL Pride celebrations.

Parade? Can we have a parade? People think a parade is silly in just one sim, booths and a fairground are better. If we can get a few sims for a parade route that would be different, but for now concentrate on festival without parade.

Events. Need to have a schedule of events for the week planned out so we can make sure there's something going on every day.

Ideas for events, activities and attractions:
- Custom goodies to give out. Gift bags. T-SHIRTS! Special dance you can only get here. Cocktails with special effects. Rollerskating Nun avs. "Queen mother wave" for riding in floats.
- Makeovers - classes on how to change/customize your avatar, make clothing, makeup, etc.
- Drag contest
- Kissing Booth [Mae Best, Robin Sojourner]
- Video Poker booth/float [Maxe Bergman]
- Disco-lights dance floor [JoshBear Sojourner]
- Custom Cocktail [Jim Lumiere]
- T-shirts and other apparel [Robin Sojourner, ...]
- Rainbow bling jewelry
- Play or performance, maybe reenact Stonewal Riots
- Queer Primtionary
- Raffle
- Big Gay Boat Ride
- Live DJs - Trinity Serpentine, ...
- Celebrity guests? Who can we get?
- Wigs
- AIDS Memorial Quilt, panel making workshops leading up to festival [Mae Best, Dianne Mechanique]
- Weddings. Divorces.
- A build contest.
- Classes. Building [Mae Best], Avatar/Clothing [Robin Sojourner]

Need:
- VOLUNTEERS, and people to help lead and organize stuff
- Logo for event and collateral
- Info Kiosk - dispense info notecard, landmark, t-shirt, etc. Would love to have script that allows remote update of contents from central object. Should llDie in July to avoid having junk hanging around the grid after the fair.
- Schedule organizer volunteer
- Hosts for events each night
- Contacts for SL LGBT groups, outreach to invite to participate in fair, set up booth, etc.
- Judges for contests
- Prizes for contests, raffles, etc.

ACTIONS:

I'm going to be off on vacation most of next week, so we'll need to get things rolling and people signed up for making stuff happen so things can progress without me running everything, which nobody wants anyway

i'm writing a script that will call llDie() on the 8th of July.

if you put it in your pride event object, it will clean itself up (as long as the script can run).

i don't seen any need for it do anything else, but if you have a suggestion let me know.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Olmy. I am not much of a builder/scripter (I took dead-last in a building contest two weeks ago ). However, if you need somone to fabricate a schedule that makes the most sense in terms of logistics, I volunteer. <raises hand>

If you like the logo, you can use it - that was an actual submission you know

Olmy - Got your IM. I can work on some clothing giveaways, and can also make my club area available for event hosting. I can probably host an event or two -- just can't over-commit right now with all I have going in RL.

Hmm maybe a nice idea to add would be to have an area where a reasonably skilled photographer would take couples photos.

Ah, very cool idea! I will work on creating some photo backdrops on my Palulop lot.

Oh good idea. I was also going to modify the wicked witch photo cutout from the Touchstone fair to let people take fake photos, but couple snaps sound really good too.

..test to make the bottom part in darker grey or black.. as the colour full are to strong in combination with the pale grey..

I am of course knitting all days in PG land - must be Disney that runs them.. (Dont belive me - about knitting)..

PLS BAN al things that take power from the Sim.... to much wrong scripted jewellery are making a xxxx lot of lag..

Drag contest, will there be dancing and singing. Drag Queens have to dance and sing, it is required.

Lady Barnes wants to help with the drag contest!

We all know she would win hands down, so she should be a judge or something.

we need a flyer (notecard) that we can give people. a couple people have already asked me for one.

I guess we should work on the on the notecard soon. Can we have a meeting tomorrow to do more plannning? Once we get the notecard, Jon Marlin is working on an info kiosk vendor for us (thanks, Jon!), and we can start putting those out too.

olmy will post about meetings tomorrow but so of you creative folks post some ideas for a log for sl pride '05 that we can use. post them here and/or bring them to the meetings tomorrow. if you can't make meeting just keep working on them.
