LGBT Pride planning - 6/4, 11am / 7pm

We're having another LGBT Pride planning meeting in Athena, Saturday 6/4. There will be two meetings, one at 11am and one at 7pm, to better accomodate people's schedules.

These meetings will be to set some concrete goals, and sign people up for what they want to help with.

Also, we need some t-shirts for Pride, and a couple logos for them. We need shirts for volunteer/staff, for people to wear in the weeks building up to the festival, and for people to get at the festival. If you can show up with a t-shirt for us to check out and pick a few to use, that would be awesome.

And like all Pride celebrations, we need a slogan or motto - some catch phrase to put on shirts and flyers, that sets the theme for the event. Come with some ideas for us to select one.

Pride Planning meeting 6/4, 11am

Executive Summary: Built on ideas we brainstormed in last meeting. Picked some things to work on and got some team leads volunteered. Got very good slogan and t-shirt contributions. Discussed info kiosks (notecard dispensers).

Agenda items:

1) Team Leads
Need volunteers to help organize various aspects of festival. Don't have rigid categories, but lots of things for people to take on.

2) Info Kiosks
Will have dispensers to hand out info notecards, landmarks, and pre-event t-shirts to advertise and provide information on the festival. How to participate, how to help make it happen. Will be available on Monday in Athena. Come by and copy one, put them out on your land where they will be seen. Should have two sizes - a big flashy one, and a small 1-prim poster version.

3) t-shirts
Want t-shirts for the event. Need pre-event shirts to help advertise it.
Davidangelo Edge showed up with a great design in three colors. Will be included in info kiosk as a freebie. Big Yay for Davidangelo.
Still want some other shirt designs for the festival. Might have a contest and pick the winners from that.

4) Slogan
Need a simple catchphrase to capture the spirit of the event.
We all liked "Virtual Life, Real Pride". Yay again for Davidangelo.

5) StoneSelf Karuna made a group for Pride Staff. "SL Pride '05". IM him to be invited to join. Group isn't open so we can control who can schedule events.

6) Misc things
- Booths: We'll have 2 main kinds of booths. 1 is for groups who want to set up their own thing here, like maybe the Gay Underground group or Amazons want to have a booth. They can do whatever they want there, give away stuff, provide info, outreach, etc. Then we'll have our own attractions, like the photo booth, drag makeovers, kissing booth, etc.
- Donations: People keep offering money or prizes to raise money. We should find a beneficiary and donate the money to a good cause. It's suggested that we should find a beneficiary in SL, instead of GOMing the L$ to donate to a RL cause. Need ideas for worthy SL causes that could use the L$.

Athena sim and Montmarte sim are available for events. we might be renting the racing sims. however, if you want to hold a pride event on your own land, you're welcome toto do so - just let Euterpe and Jim know so they can post the information

Events
some proposed events are:
- queer primtionary
- queer quiz
if you have an idea, post it. if you can run it, even better
there is a group for people who want to hold pride events in Athena or Montmarte. IM me if you want to be able to hold pride events in Athena or Montmarte.

AIDS quilt
it will be on display in the Athena Acropolis. Mae Best will be helping people make new panels.

Flaming Life
we're setting up plots in this Athena for people to make pride/festival specific builds to display (like Burning Life)

raffles and auctions
we're seeking (and getting) donations for raffles and auctions. funds to help pay for expenses and for donations. we need someone to run the auctions and raffles.

t-shirt and other clothes designs
if you have t-shirt designs if it's festival specific give it to Davidangelo and/or Daffyd. if it's just a freebie, give it to Jim.

we need pride pants and other things.

We now have TWO different info dispensers for the festival. A 2-prim freestanding kiosk, and a 1-prim wall poster. If you'd like to set them out on your land, come by Athena (12, 84) and get them. You'll have to buy them for $0 to get a copy.
