From: Tamara Czervik Another resident that will leave Sl : /140/07/129937/1.html This is the kind of news that Lindens don' t want that we know. This is the kind of problems that will be obscured whit the decision to close the forum. They don’t care; one leaves ten takes her/his place! This is the thinking of Linden Labs. We are not customers to them but statistics and profit. Even if Anshe Chung leaves they would not care. They could just resell the sims for even more profit!

We? Who are you? a Linden? Are you sure? I think that LL will resell sims to theyrself a day and it will be a good lesson to how take care of a game! Remember that the "law of profits" is a double blade: you can stay in a market even you can make profits. If Lindens, a day, not make sufficient profits theyr empire will quickly go down in a day, just for this "law of profits". They are sure to make profits for the futures whit this kind of politics? I think that this is a consideration that they must take in mind every day, before take a decision or release another awfull patch.

There will be no update because many people are upset for continous updates problems so this is a little victory but this is not the end of war. it was possible by this forum, another reason for Lindens to delete the forum!

From: Tamara Czervik Before take a service READ ALL ABOUT IT { original reply deleted }No point in arguing this. My point is clear.... There will always be things to complain about. We can either make the best of what we have... or go off and try to find better.

From: Jopsy Pendragon SecondLife is very much like a wild frontier territory. So much stuff is new and changing. There will be risks and hardships. Inconvenience due to problems and improvments IS guaranteed. Now now, i kinda don't read this in the SL front page.... there's no "Conquer the frontier world overcoming risks and hardships!" Second life is NOT in beta (Betas are free). And we're NOT LL's beta testers. SL is a service for wich people pay and as such need to guarantee efficency. If this is not guaranteed users are PLENTY justified to criticize LL about their completely anti-professional attitude. PS: I'msorry that last time you came to italy you had problems due to railway strikes, but you know, your point is completely moot, because railways strikes don't happen every wednesday.

Or EQII, or SW:G, or WoW, it's standard in any MMO-thingie...the server needs to be taken down...especially when you begin to add as much stress as the recent addition of accounts and the upswing of corporate interest. There is no doubt it could be done at a better time and in a better way (25 megs EVERYTIME?) but that is what is called trial and error.

There are many efficently run MMO's that hardly have downtime once a month (FFXI and DAOC are examples). But the actual downtime is not The only problem. The problem is that ONLY in SL, there is even worse bugtime following the downtime. EVERY downtime opens the door to new bugs and exploits.

Nope...FFxi and DAOC are smaller (execpt maybe SW:G now) and therefore don't need to be continually updated. But that's neither here nor there...everytime a new release of an MMO there will be bugs and they will need to be fixed accordingly. Don't think for once that this SL is any different. Change is the only constant in Your World

Change is the only constant in Your World Size doesn't really matter. It's the update extensiveness that does. FFXI update and content addition, for instance, is often extremely extensive. Sometimes there are bugs, but very small and fairly unnoticeable, and normally don't require further downtime to be adressed.

Shiryu- There are 3 things that we actually pay LL for: 1) Buying brand new virtual land/sims 2) Transactions on the LindeX 3) PERMISSION to own some quantity of virtual land (and the stipend that comes with it, supposedly) The service itself is FREE.

when im standing on my spendy land, id sure like things to rez, not lag so bad it takes me 30 minutes to walk across it, and griefers that cant change their names 20 times a week, need i go on ? OK OK enuff of the bitching, i just want LL to wake up, grab a nut, and say from here on out were going to manage better. More thought and testing will go into the patches, we'll try our very best to have less down time (think this is happening-see Joe Lindens blog), and when bugs do occur, we'll find them fast and get them fixed before they make you nuts. Also on my wish list is a way that content and textures cant be stolen from their creators, new ways to transfer items so that content isnt compromised. Please also, make land sales easier to use so that no one is in tears over a land swoop ever again, and if you do all of this, i promise to be a very good girl, and say only nice things about the Lindens from here on out I am very much looking forward to the Burning Man Festival, we need more fun things in SL, and i do very much hope that for all we have been thru lately, we'll see some fantastic new and amazing things for us to use in the game. and no i did not take a prozac today... but i did stay at a Holday Inn Express last nite!

And since those condition are influenced by uptime, bugs and downtime, my rude friend, such "little" problems DO influence a pay to play product, and as such the point you felt the need to write so big is absolutely moot.

Please continue demanding things you haven't paid for. I'm sure that the friendly folks at Linden Lab will be delighted to drop everything to adjust reality to suit you. If they take too long, try calling them incompetent again, I'm sure that will really motivate them to help you. -- "Quite simply it's not the resident's responsibility to help LL in any way." -- Shiryu Musashi

From: Raudf Fox I suggested in another thread a while back that they need something like a TOP 10 PREVIEW BUG FINDERS or something, and that it needs to reflect on the main account. Why would people want to get on the preview when they could be spending that time on the main grid, getting their L and making money? Personally, I use it as a learning tool for making outfits and making new designs. The money there doesn't count and I do find bugs and report them, but this doesn't mean that people are going to be of a like mind as I. As you say, that would be the only benefit: for a builder who are in te categories of texture, skin, clothing, jewelry creators. No incentive for others. Being a scripter myself, why would I go over to preview? why would a dancer go over to preview? why would a club/mall/shop/business/island/sim/real-estate owner go to preview?

From: Jopsy Pendragon I'm sorry. Please continue demanding things you haven't paid for. How strange, i thought i DID and still do pay to be able to use the land i pay dear money for without having 245 bugs that threaten to screw it all at least 2-3 days a week. From: someone If they take too long, try calling them incompetent again, I'm sure that will really motivate them to help you.
I'm here to play a game and use a service, not to give pats on the back, nor to put up the brown lipstick like you seem to love to do. From: someone "Quite simply it's not the resident's responsibility to help LL in any way." -- Shiryu Musashi And i reiterate, it's not. If a commercial company wants playtesters it PAYS for them. They already have an HELL of a content team completely for free (and do ABSOLUTELY nothing to protect or incentivate their work, by the way), so i guess many of us help LL even too much already.

From: Usagi Musashi As in my rl work IF I help out WHEREEVER I can to make the company better. Sure, that's the same thing i do "in my rl work". The only difference is taht SL isn't "my rl work". I don't work for Linden Labs, nor does any other resident. From: someone RL have taught me SHI that helping out DOES PAY OFF in the long run, NO ONE MAN is a island! A shit full of BUILDERS EGO IS THE WORSE KIND and hurt EVERYONE in the game!! I think you confused "builders ego" with "customer's disappointment", because that's what i am. A disappointed customer.

So sorry, Second Life is not free for me or a lot of other users. It would be like my satellite company doing the same as Linden Labs. The excuse is that because a few channels are free it excuses the long periods of downtime, bad performance, etc.Being tolerant of poor performance is not "helping" to build a strong company. Oh I see you are still insulting other residents. You never change person from the Eastern Capital!
