never
I think that only twice have I even stopped long enough for a hub to rez the textures, and that's because I was new enough to SL to be curious about what was there. Nodays, it's up to 1 kilometer and across to my true destination. _____________________

No. When I shop for something, I ctrl+f and search and then go wherever it is. If it's at a telehub, it's at a telehub, but that is just not a criterion.

I won't. Even if there is something nice there. I boycott the shops at hubs as my way of showing my distaste of most of them trapping me or making me fly all around them to get where I'm going. So I just voted with my wallet.

Only if I look something up in find and it happens to be around a hub.
When I TP, I fly straight up and out of the area. _____________________

Generally, no. If what I am looking for happens to be at a hub, then fine. I use Find and the forums to do my research.
I never browse at telehubs. Arrive, go str8 up in the air. Fly away. |

Never, I usually fly straight to my destination.
I think the biggest group that shops at hubs are newbies IMO. _____________________

I shop at hub shops if I like what's in there, not because it's at a hub. Something worth getting is worth getting for me, whether it takes 5 seconds or 5 minutes to fly to.

I personally cannot stand shops near hubs. Takes too long for them to rez and I would much rather use the search .

Never. Rez in, use hyperteleporter to get the rest of the way (unless its like 300m or less). If scripts are disabled I walk out and then use HT. Only place I'd shop with a telehub is Midnight City and thats technically not a telehub, its a phone booth.

Not at random. If i've done a search for something and one of the stores that came up was in a telehub mall by chance, then sure.

I've read a lot of posts about p2p and loss of hubs. Do you ever shop at hubs? Alexa No. Does anyone really just pick a hub at random and start walking around to see what's good for sale? I imagine some do, but enough to make hub land so valuable? For those who say they have increased sales in their near hub stores vs. non-hub stores, is it because of the hub itself or just the fact that you're near other stores and people do like to window-shop after they've been to where they really wanted to go? There are shops around telehubs?
![]() Who knew? Actually... now that I am thinking about it - all of the shops I like, buy from, return to, and send people to are away from telehubs. Proxmity is not part of the decision, I go where there are things I like, and I'll fight lag if I need to to get to it. No spot I've ever rented near a telehub has ever earned be back the rent, never mind garnered me a profit. I assumed this is becasue of what I sell - aircraft not really being an impulse-buy sort of thing. If these are common experiences, then telehubs never were much of a business spot. What markets did they serve well? _____________________

Not usually, but there is one new store that happens to be right at a hub (WRONG store) and I really like the designer's clothes, so probably I will return and shop there.
I often spend a lot of time at hubs though, only because I use teleport-to-hub-and-wait-for-hair-to-catch-up time as get-up-and-get-more-coffee time ![]() What strikes me about telehubs is they are so empty they're a little creepy sometimes. A mishmash of builds, the Linden free stuff kiosk, and slowly rezzing textures. You assume a lot of people would be around all these buildings, and then they are not. Reminds me of that movie where an apocalypse happened on New Year's Eve and the only people saved were the ones who stayed the night in metal buildings, and they woke up New Year's Day to find no humans, only empty stores full of after-Christmas sale stuff ![]() ![]() Maybe if there were more good quality free stuff at telehubs that changed weekly or often enough to make a trip back, (after-Christmas sale stuff, anyone?) more people would spend more time there? _____________________

No. I use Find and search for what I need and go directly to the store.
If I am just in the mood to window shop, I will go to some place like Midnight City or Aqua that has a variety of shops in one area. It is very rare that I will just browse around a hub because I just happen to be there. This thread is almost all negative in response. Makes me wonder what the traffic numbers are at hub stores. Are they really the boon that the hub owners claim they are?. |

No. But I do often find myself getting stuck in them because they never seem to rezz. Does that count?

When I'm looking for something I search for it, if the place is more than 400m from a hub I pass it up for the next shop in the search list. I hate flying long distances to be disappointed in the things for sale.
I don't like shopping right next to a hub, but I like shopping within 300m of a hub. |
