Ban lines around Burning Life builds?
I was checking out the Burnign Life builds and my exploration was impeded by several plots with red ban lines that prevented passage to the excluded build as well as builds behind and near the ares of ban.
Why bother making a build to present as part of the community exhibit and then block it off with red ban lines, while adding comments such as "keep your comments to yourself?"
Is the hate and exclusion represented by the red ban lines part of the "art," or are the creators of the Burning Life builds with red ban lines really just that rude?

I know at least one exhibit - a dig at the demise of the forums - has them up as part of the build, but others I can only guess is people who don't understand what Burning Life is really all about.
There were several who appeared to be using their "free land" to build a house and call it home. I'd hate to be them on the 18th when they log in...

Lewis I was noticing this myself. Not sure if they realize they don't get to keep the land or if they're making some sort of statement.

I kinda think blanket banning people from your lil 512m or 1028m parcel is kind of stupid but you see it all the time.
Why do people join an MMORPG to be so unfriendly as to not let someone on your land when you are not even logged on?

The ban lines are there because people are afraid their business name will be stolen. :|

Yeh, I bounced off more than one set of ban lines while flying around the Burning Life sims. Makes me wish that LL would implement an overlay for the map that shows 'banned' areas in red, much the same way as 'land for sale' can be highlighted in yellow. I'm prolly one of those rare creatures that prefers flying and walking to teleporting. Ban-lines just don't show up until you've pretty much hit them

The owner of this lot is a well know "content provider" and thinks he is better than the rest of us. There is a group of residents behind this that do not respect Second Life, its residents and in the end themselves. I did the right thing for our community. I also sent a email to the great lady herself in hopes she will do something when all others fail. I hate anti social people like this! They make me so angry!

With the exception of the forum protest plot, ban lines seem to be very much against the spirit of burning man/burning life.
Hopefully they'll come down.

My plot in particular has the ban lines up, and they are part of the theme of the plot. If you look at the plot details closely (and followed the hsitory of the forums) you'll be able to understand why the lines are there and what they mean.

Lewis This is so true, Strange thing happend when I got knocked out of my building and landed in someone's plot. There was this guy and another person laying there. So I checked the name on the plot (empty plot with plaque), sure enough it was his, so I asked if his build was in the sky or not, cause I didn't see it. The guy responds, hey this is my home, please leave cause I'm having a private conversation with so and so. I thought that was a hilariously odd thing to say! I didn't feel like pointing out the whole deal about Burning Life. Anyways, everyone is welcome to visit my build. Just did some changes to it.

/Tina It's not really a link or two, it's a comment on the ongoing history of the forums. However if you do searches on phrases such as 'the chosen ones', 'the tao of Linden', "resmods", etc, it'll go partway towards filling in the blanks. It is also my attempt at 'art', which to my knowledge means "if you understand it, it aint art". So some of the intentions behind the design might not all that obvious to the casual eye - especially if that casual eye just beforehand crashed into the no entry lines. - Newfie

I do not think that many people are going to notice it! I just got off of my "duty" when I sort of found it head first. You can not see ban lines across sim boundries. I can not see how you can justify your actions. Maybe I should walk around naked to protest the protest and residents putting a ban on others just because they can. I do not see this doing any good but creating bad feelings all around.

And when this eye crashed into your ban lines, disabling my vehicle and orbiting my gf to the point of having to relog, I suggest you do your griefing on your own property and not in a public show in the future.

What would it be like if all of the lots were on lockdown? Hopefully your ban will be lifted soon. It really does ruin the fun and remember you were given use of the land for the benefit of the group and this is not land you pay tier on.

- Newfie I think I may understand what you're trying to say with the ban lines, it is part of your creation. However it does prevent people from really looking doesn't it? They see that it's locked off, they get angry and leave, they don't get the message. A solution perhaps would be to do it with prims. Take a picture of the ban lines and make a texture from it and there you go.

As far as Newfie's build goes, I do understand the ban lines. And imho it fits perfectly.
I haven't been here that long, but I don't understand the reasoning for closing the forums.
The other's I have come across tho, I'm not sure why they are there.

I'd like to go back on what I said earlier. I just went and looked and Newfie I get it. It makes sense the way it's done and the little bump of the ban line makes a point. From: someone How many people have you inconvienced because of your "protest"?
I think "protest" is too strong a word, it doesn't exactly scream protest, it just has a theme like most of the other builds.
