There is no system I can think of, short of making it harder for legitimate customers, so much harder that it wouldn't be possible for some to verify (and making them feel violated, so they may not signup). While also driving up the costs too much.

As for ISPs, how do you expect ISPs to implement it? Give us a technical method.

That LL blatently does not require age verification for the main grid now..if an underage escort earns a nickle or $5K US for her services, they are pimping underage prostitutes. Plain and simple. Theres no excuse they can take to court to protect themselves from major legal issues, wether from a lawsuit or criminal charges...

The easiest method to implement would be something along the lines of what ebay used to allow certified sellers there. You filled out a form with the company with your state license/ID number and paid a small fee, then the company researched you and verification was granted on that. The same could be used here and LL could add yet another rediculous something to our profiles to show for it.

Some years back Chinese girls get married as early as 12. In Europe in the middle ages, marriages at 15 were the norm. Nature has declared that men can have sex starting at 13, and women at 12.

It's really an uphill climb to enforce legal ages (be it 18 or 16). The tendency towards rebellion is just too high. 18 or 16 may be a safer age to allow sex, and if you ask me, I'd rather the kids wait. But no matter how you look at it, it's an artificial threshold set by culture with nature and adolescent rebellion going against it.

All true, Aodhan, but it cannot be stressed enough that Linden Lab exists in a country right now that is on a moral crusade to clean up porn, sexual predators and gays trying to marry. So we have politicians who know that their best chances of getting and staying in power is to appeal to people's fear that a 17 1/2 year old girl somewhere might actually do the nasty. The result is enthusiastic law enforcement that will sieze on anyone they believe might be contributing to this "moral decline". If LL were to go to court in any conservative district of this country, they'd be faced with serious legal problems if they haven't covered their own asses.

Well Cindy, I'm not from America so I can't comment on the going ons over there. Just one thing. How could they consider underage prostitution was happening in SL? No one actually has sex here, or is masturbation a crime too? It's all a game, a fantasy, including in case of the hookers.

Me and my friends regard the US as the country that sued all the flavor out of their fastfoods because they can't control their eating. I'll never forget that one about a woman who sued McD (not McDunnough!) because she got hot coffee all over herself when it spilled in her car. Over here we have lots and lots of fatty foods but we don't have a serious obesity problem. The average diet here is high in carbo, moderate to low in fat.
