Great person, first class all the way. SL is lucky to have someone like this helping out.

Cristiano Midnight is responsible for bringing me to SL (over and over) until I finally got an av who looked human and decided to stay
![]() ![]() After Cristiano, one of the first people I met and befriended was Launa Fauna, who gave me some lovely eye textures and took a beautiful picture of my av for my profile. Launa continues to be one of my favorite designers in SL. Taeja Diaz helped turn my av into the fashion plate she is today. I was dazzled everyday by the beautiful outfits I'd see her in and I vowed to look as good someday! She's also a generous, fun loving friend and I always look forward to seeing her in SL. _____________________

Sezmra Svarog -- I know her from another game, I came to SL after she told me about it, and thanks to her, I didn't wear newbie boxes on my head
![]() Snakekiss Noir, for letting me use a spot at the Red Dragon Market, introducing me to people who liked Asian clothing, and telling me useful tricks with prims and some scripting. I had just gotten to build a 'real' store back then, and it really helped me in improving my meager building abilities. Hiro Pendragon, whose vendors were a blessing, and whose advice about buying land were of a great use. It prevented me from committing more than one mistake, this I'm pretty sure of. Lots of other people were very kind and helpful later on, of course, but since it's about when I was a newbie, I've kept it down to my first month in ![]() _____________________

Hiroyuki Saito - My 'cousin' (don't ask it's a cultural thing and too lazy to explain) and co-worker. We both loved games so when she got in SL she kept pestering me until I gave in. She was the one who dragged me out of newbie area and gave me a one on one orientation of SL. It was something too because she did the whole 'orient the newbie' thing in a sex shop dressed as a 'sub'. (o_ô) <--my reaction the first time I saw her ****** - will be nameless. She took me in when I was wandering into her public garden. She taught me the more technical side of SL and let me stay in her house for quite some time, taught me basics of how to make and sell stuff. Of course, things turned sour when she found out I was visiting the Gor maps (where my cuz Hiroyuki was currently hanging out) and learning to make gowns for the folks there (no I'm not into that. My roleplay is limited to the tabletop RPGs and or Online RP based on such games) Pretty much kicked me out, took me out of friend's list etc. I'm not bitter, since I'm still thankful for all the stuff she taught me. Tink Buttercup - She encouraged me to continue working on my gowns and even let me rent for a reasonable price on her mall island. She bought a lot of my gowns too, which in my opinion helped more than just giving me money. Her belief that I can do well pushed me to excel. Love ya 'ate'. ![]() Pill Kitty - the partying white tiger, tried to get me out of my shell and hangout more. Sorry I couldn't keep in touch and couldn't stay very long. Clubbing isn't my thing. ![]() There are a hell lot of folks for me to be thankful for but right now I'll stick to the ones who made the biggest impression on me when I was a noob. ![]() _____________________

Marilyn Murphy, Fleabite Beach, fenix Stone, Chip Midnight are the first names that come to mind first. I'm sure Ferran would have more if she was awake and reading the forums. Oh crap, I just realized that we both passed our 2nd Rezday anniversaries this week.. where has the time gone.

i know this is going to sound truly bizarre. totally lost newbie. stumbling around, decides to buy some land, and build a tribute to the book tobbacco road. (i had just read it.) so i buy some land and these two guys standing close enuff to hear, start complaining about how im going to do something stupid with it. at this point in time i could not rez a plywood box mind you. *readers note: i have since mastered the plywood box and am now aiming for the round plywood thingy.
i think i moaned and screamed about how lost i was and how i hated all of this and was so clueless these two guys took pity on me and ended up making me a shack and my road. so for a couple of weeks when i first started my sl revolved around the immaculate sim and nolan nash and reve monde. (yes i remember dreamcatcher) there was a group we made called immaculate conception that appealed to the rebel in me. later, circumstances changed and i had a different motivation for staying. so. nolan nash and reve monde. yes, its all your fault. _____________________

My first night in SL, I ran into 2 old ActiveWorlds buddies, who helped me out a ton:
Eep Quirk Lightwave Valkyrie I also recieved some building tips from Psyra Extrodinare. I think that the one resident who has helped me out more than any one other resident though, whom I deeply respect, is Desmond Shang. Oh, and these forums have provided me with a ton of help as well... never forget the power of the Search Box. My friends have provided me with some very fun times, and they know who they are =) I would also like to thank the griefers, who have given me the patience to deal with their ilk, and not to whip out a push gun and blow them to kingdom come. Support for my continued use of SL provided by: Capn' Crunch The Letter "A" And Viewers Like You _____________________

Spider Mandala helped get me better aquainted with the building tools and showed me the tricks to building irregular objects. Most of what I build today is still heavily influenced by his tutorial.
Ryan Dayton was a neighbor early on and he helped me with a lot of scripting projects. He's since been deported to the Teen Grid, where I am certain he made a killing in the gadgets market. _____________________

Brian Engel. He answered lots of stupid noob questins, pointed me toward a veteran shopaholic when most of my questions turned to clothing and design, and he didn't even make a pass at me! ;D
Adia Peel, who taught me how to fly, shop, teleport, dress, attach hair and jewelry, dance, and how to take a photo. ![]() Jillian Coral, who filled my inventory with TONS of freebies and toys and clothes and cars and... (I saved a few things!) Siouxsie Psaltery, who taught me how to take stuff out of a box. Brace Coral, who taught me how to build a box, and then put stuff into it. ;D Karl Greenstein, who taught me how to siddown. ![]() |

What a wonderful idea for a thread!
April Firefly, KittyKatt Kerensky, and Konigmann Lippmann. April was the first person that really took the time to speak with me in Second Life. She helped me a lot in those first few weeks and has continued to be a great friend, always so encouraging and cheerful. Kitty is a sweet and dear friend. She taught me a lot - in particular that Second Life is not a game. And master builder Koni taught me much of what I know about building and scripting. He was always patient while I learned new things, and he blatently lied to me about the quality of my work to keep me encouraged. Thank you to all of my friends. You have been an inspiration. Without you I would not have stayed in this place so long, and evolved so far. You are awesome! _____________________

My first days in the Morris sandbox.....memories....
Enabran Templar for his constant encouragement. Truly a decent human being. Cool bots too. DJ Under for his support and encouragement. Again just a real nice guy. There are many others who I would never remember having met so many great people here but my thanks to all of them for the kind words and support. |

I got a mention! I'm stunned, Khashai. Really though, with all my business talk you should have nominated me for 'special people who bored me to tears as a newbie' - but I'm glad you think so anyway. Especially since you have a lot of dirt on me, and would be as dangerous as a rattlesnake if you thought otherwise... *small tear*
*male bonding moment, but not so much as to approach slash fiction* I would say, of all people who got me started: Garnet Psaltery. Without her belief in young Desmond, I never would have escaped my room under the stairs and begun my first year... ah... rather, got my business off the ground. She believed in me when I had made little more than a chair. Also - Prokofy Neva. Every little bit of business advice was right on the mark. Took one look at my early architecture, told me the straight-out truth of how customers would respond, and that's *exactly* how they did. I got to know Prokofy a bit, and was soon joking around and cracking blonde jokes with my ol' chum. Much has changed since almost a year ago - more than I ever would have imagined. But still, a vital friend who always has a keen insight. The stunning success of the small island nation Caledon was built in no small part, on Prokofy's 'land barony' advice. _____________________
