That you've had many years of exposure, and seen many Gor relationships, does not mean you have an accurate scientific sample on which to base sweeping generalizations. All you can say is "The majority of Gorean relationships I've been exposed to are abusive", not "The majority of Gorean relationships are abusive." There is a huge difference there. Your experience, no matter how lengthy, is not necessarily representative.

Its not uncommon for a predator who is abusing a rp system, for a 'true' Gorean, it is mighty rare.

I've personally never met a Gorean (that I knew was one anyway) who didn't act like retarded moron. That said, do I believe all Goreans are retarded morons? Of course not, that would be as silly as me believing all african-americans are bling-obsessed, ebonics-spouting rap-fans just because the majority of those I've been exposed to have been. Taking any small sampling and assuming that they're representative of their entire group is how prejudice and intolerance get started in the first place. I fall into a lot of categories, and in some of those categories I'm fairly stereotypical, while in others I'm so far off 'baseline' that most others in that group would fail to recognize me as being in said category at all. Doesn't change the fact that I identify with those categories and think of myself that way.

Thank you Selador for revealing that Vivianne is not the only person here capable of such brilliant and insightful commentary equivalent to little children calling each other names in a playground. It's always valuable to a society when mattters of importance are reduced to name calling.

What's even more sad, Selador, is 1) You left out the "self-righteous" part of the name calling, and; 2) insults coming from adults acting like badly behaving children are given no weight to all the people that matter; that is, mature, intelligent people.

There may very well be good reasons why certain behaviors are discouraged or censored by people. There are always questions about where we draw lines between freedom and responsibility...and what sorts of bad/questionable behaviors we are going to or should tolerate in the name of freedom.

Just because people disagree with you (Vivanne, Selador), does not mean they are nutjobs. Really, are you 12? My children know better than to behave as you have.

I abhor Gor because of the environment it provides certain predatory types, moreso than other RP subcultures here. I REALLY abhor Gor here because it's about 300 times more abused here than any other place I've seen it.

Ignoring the rest of your post as it's more or less a contradiction within itself, much like most of the posts made near the beginning of this thread by your person - which is made terribly apparent by even the first paragraph above.

You state that the thread has been reduced to name-calling when your opening arguement immediately refers to two individuals as children arguing on a playground. Wtf? Upon further reflection, up until you hopped in on the subject, all opinions that were expressed from those that you 'attacked', (word used that the one giving the retorts reviewed it as, whether or not intentional), were of a neutral manner, not targeting any individual in specific.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, because, quite simply, they are opinions. No one is entitled to state an opinion as if it were a fact, because, in fact, it is not a fact.

But to state an opinion as if it were a fact, and then go against that fact by blindly doing exactly what the opinion-generated, falsified fact claims is wrong?

I would label any individual that trys to push an arguement in this way, whether valid or not, as a 'nutjob'. :3
