I'm with Canimal on this, TOTALLY. Posting a new item and recieving feedback is the inspiration to make another item of the same calibur or not. If it's an issue of space or lack there of on SL's the hell purge the forums each month and archive it so you DONT see last months products re surfacing. As far as negative feedback I dont recall EVER seeing someone post "Man that looks like crap!" I've seen flame wars from time to time but ya know what...it's entertainment for some of us to see a few people open up a can of whoop ass on someone else for copying another item, or whatever. (just used the recent war as an example) So again, Cani...I got my shoe off too and ready to throw it!!!

From: Selador Cellardoor I am bumping this in the hope that people will do what Cristiano suggests, and use the functionality that he has retained and the Lindens have not. You bumped the thread! Lindens, can we make General Post only plz?

From: Aimee Weber Lindens, can we make General Post only plz? I have advocated the same request here. /140/d2/74548/2.html#post774680 The stickies at the top of each Classified forum clearly state that you should now take it to the discussion forums. I tried that today and the thread (linked above) devolved into trolling by people who seem to take offence at this new purposing of the discussion forums far faster than they ever did in Classifieds. Look for yourself.

re - my post above. To this end I have proposed a new feature suggestion that we Make the General Forum post only, since people are misusing it blatantly following it's repurposing today.

No discourse allowed! Only blind, uninformed commercialism in the SL forums!

Actually, an additional thought:
They are going to HAVE to repeal the rule about naming names and threads about an individual, of course! If we're addressing a query to someone via the discussion forums, how will they know if we can't name them!?

Y'all - having not read this entire thread, but: I posted a "testing" post under the classifieds. There's a forum UNDER them where you can put new threads. Still in classifieds, I mean. Find it - see if maybe that isn't where they intended us to put comments. (I always thought that was what they intended.) coco

They said use the discussion forums, not the classifieds. It's in a sticky at the top of each Classified forum

Your thread is post only because that forum is post only. The stickies say to use the discussion forums. Although seems to have increased offtopic comments to classifieds rather than reduce them. Oh well.

Kenzington I just have to say that I am deeply hurt by your lack of respect for my naughty or nice lingerie and you're going to get nothing but coal this year. That being said, I get the point of having the classifieds be post only but they obviously didn't think it through. If they want us to discuss products in the discussion forums they need to have a forum for just that, like "New Products Discussion" or whatever. It seems to be a pattern with LL, they have good ideas but I don't think they question the repercussions.

If they want us to discuss products in the discussion forums they need to have a forum for just that, like "New Products Discussion" or whatever. I don't see this would work. Reposted from another post of mine: How is that going to solve the problem? The gripe (and honestly, I really haven't seen it made that often, it just seems to be a few persistent campaigners on the subject) is about people posting "ZOMGZ THAT ROXXORZ!" type encouragement in Classifieds. So, seperate out the forums as you suggest and it just means people will have to start a new thread to do the very same thing. In fact, what will happen, is that somewhat like the voting for feature proposals thing, people will just make a new discussion topic for their item when they advertise it. So, how is double posting with one thread full of 'spam' any more desirable than what we had up til yesterday? Seriously, people - and Lindens (I think you're probably people too) - come on! If this is a problem to the majority, can we come up with some REAL solutions? Because what you have done isn't it! By the way, they've since announced the return of replies to Products Wanted. This doesn't cut it, as I hotlined here

From: Alexa Hope Sorry to disagree but I think Post Only is a brilliant idea. The end of sycophantic bumping posts from friends.
Now ducks
Alexa Yay! Common sense at last. I agree totally. What great "ideas" are being lost here? None. What discussion is being stifled? "you go girl?" The Classifieds were inane. The only downside I can see is about two or maybe three people (the ones complaining mostly) will have their posts reduced by about 75%. OMG!!! How will we live without that inane back-slapping chatter?

From: Hank Ramos No discourse allowed! Only blind, uninformed commercialism in the SL forums! I have never seen anything in the classifieds that would approach "discourse." I saw a lot of people posting cheap junk, and getting five identical replies like "OMG! how fantaaastic!!!!" or "CUUUUTTE!!!" This is not helpfull. Discourse that is all positive is not discourse IMO, it's meaningless. How does it even help the designers if the worst kind of badly seamed hooker-ware gets the same response as PixelDolls or Little Rebel's latest release? For instance I've seen Jonquille post her latest stuff (stuff worth looking at IMO), lots of times and have it drop off the page a minute later because there is some love fest going on with a new designer that simply doesn't deserve the encouragement. People need information not hype.

People need information not hype. I see your point about the less than great stuff getting alot of attention, but its a bit harsh to say it doesn't deserve encouragement, if everyone didn't encourage those that start off to a rocky start then we wouldn't see them tranform into beautiful swans would we? And LOL, iunno how much you get out in SL, but alot of ppl like hooker-ware badly seamed or not, if they wanna show skin, they will, and they have every right to reply as much as I do to a Neph or a Torrid post, do they not?

Hmmm... I always thought offering some constructive criticism in that forum would be like smoking in an oxygen tent.

here is what i suggest as an alternative if LL decides to continue with this new rule.
why don't content creators keep forums. maybe on SL Universe, or something of their own. all discussions could be linked in the post.
