The new stickies announcing the new post-only rule at the top of each classified ad forum now clearly state that you should take any discussions to the appropriate forum. The only appropriate forum for SL related discussions is General. This effectively means to say that the General forum has been repurposed as of today. However, I tried to start up some legitimate discussion threads of this kind as directed, and they devolved into trolling - presumably by people who seem to take offence at this repurposing of the discussion forums - far faster than they ever did in Classifieds. Look for yourself. It surely follows, then, that if consistent implementation is to be applied, then the logical solution to this blatant trolling of people's classified discussion threads must be to make the General forum post-only as well? So I'd like to see this consistency applied quickly, since the recent changes seem to have amplified people's tendency to troll the classified discussions in their new home.

I also have a suggestion..
Since the classifids forum is no longer about product discusstion & is only about product advertising, you could start charging for posting in it! Or even bid for posting there! Highest bid gets the top spot etc etc'.

Additional thought:
They are going to HAVE to repeal the rule about naming names and threads about an individual, of course! Or how will people know we're asking them!?

Actually, I'd support a restructuring of the Classified section in order to allow a separate discussion area within that section. That way, the general chat forum won't be cluttered up by product questions and comments.
Here's my suggestion for how they can re-arrange things:
Forum: Special Interest Sub-Forums: Shopping Special Events & Attractions Land Sales & Rentals Property Sales & Rentals Fansites
Forum: New Products Sub-Forums: Product Discussions (Replies allowed! Intended for asking questions about or giving compliments on products listed in this section) Clothing & Accessories Body Shop Home & Gardens Vehicles & Machines Animations & Gadgets Miscellaneous Forum: Employment & Service Center Sub-Forums: Employment Opportunities & Help Wanted Services Offered Products Wanted
I'm familiar when it comes to forums, and there is a way of providing a link to the sub-forums within the description of the parent forum. By doing this, it will make it easier to navigate, plus make it much faster for those who only want to visit a specific sub-forum.

How is that going to solve the problem? The gripe (and honestly, I really haven't seen it made that often, it just seems to be a few persistent campaigners on the subject) is about people posting "ZOMGZ THAT ROXXORZ!" type encouragement in Classifieds. So, seperate out the forums as you suggest and it just means people will have to start a new thread to do the very same thing. In fact, what will happen, is that somewhat like the voting for feature proposals thing, people will just make a new discussion topic for their item when they advertise it. So, how is double posting with one thread full of 'spam' any more desirable than what we had up til yesterday. Seriously, people - and Lindens (I think you're probably people too) - come on! If this is a problem to the majority, can we come up with some REAL solutions? Because what you have done isn't it!

It's not a perfect solution, but it would at least resolve the issue of those comments and questions about products innundating the general discussion forum. It was just a thought that might help in light of the changes that have been made.

But all they really had to do was stop replies to classifieds bumping the thread - order them by original post and then it wouldn't matter how many bumps the post had, and we still get to ask questions and give feedback. Your way does that too, but goes to an unnecessary extra step to work with what we've just been given. I think the answer is a step back and then sideways

Kris don't bother clearly jeska doesn't want to moderate that many forums cos its too much work so instead she's cutting out the ones that she thinks aren't worth keeping. Regardless of how many people that hurts, under the pretence that it's to "help noobs & stop bump-ups"
Maybe after that she'll move on to the gallery & well wishes forums. Those aren't as active but the time she saves on not reading them she can use to move posts around to forums they dont belong to!
