Perhaps there are lots of men in SL who use female avatars because it makes it easier to get hired, or easier to sell your stuff. Or perhaps because of the amount of clothes and hair and avatar stuff made primarily for women... I was shopping for prim hair for a new head I put together yesterday and today and probably 95% of what I saw was made for women. I don't go clothes shopping much, but I also remember someone else commenting that mostly all he found was unisex or women's clothing, and it was a pain for him to find any male-specific clothes. |

name 5 different tampon brands rofl or something rofl surely mind quiz see if thats a female. lol but usualy really broad shoulders is some significance and personality you can sometime tell, or you could say i heard you was a male and see if they freak out. if not then there prolly really female rofl. ok im warped but hey worth a shot lol _____________________

Aww c'mon Richie, thats a bit unfair, you wouldn't like it if you "fell" for a girl/boy and they turned out to be the other gender, and you weren't that way inclined. Sure your feelings are about the PERSON, not the gender, but I don't think thats the problem, I think its the misleading that get to ppl. Personally i'd do either _____________________

I think you're right Flip. I also know a few women playing men in SL and none of them are doing it for sex. It's more about role playing or indeed "hiding" from sexual situations, because they dont want to be bothered. Actually.. I am personaly aware of a woman who's playing a homosexual man in SL.. and she does get into sexual situations, quite abit. Honestly, it always amuse me how men playing women is always perceived as more controversial then women playing men. |

Here's a rule of thumb ; if we consider that :
homosexuality or bisexuality is less common than heterosexuality, and that there are fewer RL women in SL than RL men then: - a lesbian women in SL -> very high risk of being a guy - a bisexual woman in SL -> high risk of being a guy - an heterosexual woman in SL -> medium risk of being a guy, but if it is then maybe he is homosexual (which maybe be yuckier to some and make the crying in the shower session longer  )- an homosexual guy in SL -> medium risk of being a woman (women are not into sex that much and so, few will make the effort of playing a gay man) - a bisexual guy in SL -> low risk of being a woman. - an heterosexual guy in SL -> lowest risk (but same thing ; may be a lesbian) Conclusion: go buy a self sex animation and have your AV play with him/herself , it's the only safe thing _____________________

We have had such a range of comments whenever the subject has arisen. It seems to me from the comments we often see that a lot of people equate it exactly to real sex - to the point they can't even differentiate between a real 'sex crime' (on their own moral compass, of course) and ... well, texting. I think it'd be a far more interesting and revealing subject to find out people's views on 'what cybering means to them' and where those uncrossable lines are drawn than endlessly rehashing the "ZOMGZ MEN ARE PLAYING WOMEN!" thing every other week. IMO, if a guy finds out the girl he just cybered is a guy, and even if they lied when asked outright... he still didn't just turn gay. Honest. I'm certainly not saying you don't have the right to be offended, but at the end of the day... it's just text! |
