Furnation Sims Down?

Relatively new here, but I thought I'd put in my two cents. You'll mainly see me In the Lost Furest or Luskwood (mainly because those were the first furry links I encountered), and when I went by Furnation after it's return, it was empty for the most part, so I don't know the atmosphere of the place.

What I will say is this, most of the furry avatars I have seen tend to wear clothes as though they were fully human avatars. The ones who don't often-times are of the 4-legged variety and almost always lacking the details "bits" which I gather most would consider naughty.

By bits, I am referring to the actual nipples, or pelvic genatalia which are lacking in the typical barbie-doll nude (or fuzzy nude). A lack of these bits, in my opinion, make any such nude avatar PG, although depending on the area and your avatar, it may be a sensible thing to wear clothing to avoid needless offense.

By and large, I tend to ignore the few genatalia I have seen, although the nipples I will admit are a bit distracting (honest guy moment here). The areas where actual yiffing would be seen tend to be outside of the regular gathering areas for people coming in, and therefore semi-private in nature. They are usually empty, and I have yet to see anyone using the pose spots for them.

For the most part, furries tend mainly to talk about their interests, which are normally similar to non-furry interests, save any modelling or avatar talk might revolve around animal-based avatars rather non normal non-furry avatars.

My advice is the same as what others have said. If the atmosphere of an area is distasteful to you, stay away from there. If someone asks about the place, you can honestly tell them why you don't like it there. If someone's appearance is offensive to you, be polite in your requests, and consider the context of the sim when deciding what your response will be, should they be unwilling to change it. You might consider either ignoring the item, or if you cannot do that, consider a change of venue.

On the flip side, if someone asks you to change your appearance, it would go a long way to change or remove the offensive item you have on, especially if the item in question isn't particularly important in the grand scheme (and it usually isn't).

I'm not seeing the difference. Being Nude is Being Nude. O.o If your logic is correct, females should not be allowed to be nude cuz they have breasts
If someone's not wearing anything but fur, they're 'nude'... but so's Wile-E-Coyote and teh Roadrunner.

If someone's wearing underwear with nipples and genitals, or prim nipples, or prim cocks and balls, they're not just 'nude'. :)

On the other hand the fact that Furnation's and The Forest's standards don't appeal to Pyrii shouldn't mean Pyrii's entitled to try and make that a problem for Furnation or The Forest.

Bring back the DI, for "premium dwell".
04-09-2006 09:42
Most popular places are going to have a fairly even mix of "Basic" and "Premium" visitors, but most camping holes are going to mostly have "Basic" visitors. People who are paying for SL and getting 500L a week don't generally need an extra couple of hundred Lindens badly enough to bother.

So "Premium DI" for "Premium Dwell" would tend to reward traditionally popular places like Furnation without rewarding camping ball operators.

I like the idea, perhaps a Premium upgrade bonus as well. If, let's say you you really like Furnation or some other area, you upgrade to a premuim account and you do it through Furnation and the owner gets a portion of their tier paid for as long as they remain a premium account. You could even offer a Sponsorship Premium account that adds, let's say, $2 to the monthly payment that can go to the estate or area of your choice.

Hmmm, kind of like the "$1 to the presidential campaign fund" checkbox?

But really, I think just keeping the referral bonus (for somone's first account only) and also tracking and paying it when a basic upgrades to premium would have made a big difference.

For those wondering, Furnation went down because the Lindens had a hiccup and decided to bill for the sims out of their usual sequence and Nexxus didn't have enough to cover two sims at once. By the time he knew about it and could transfere money into the paypal account, the Lindens enacted their new policy that if one sim falls behind, all the sims are closed that belong to that account. Soo, if you aren't aware of it be warned that if a major land Baron (or minor one at that) misses a payment on one sim, all land belonging to that account will be locked down, even if the particular sim you have land in was just paid for.

 That is a truly frightening thought, given how many sims certain land barons own!

The problem is, there aren't that many more furs to recruit. There aren't that many of them to tell the truth and the majority of those with broadband are already here or been here and left. Plus, the way it works now is you only get a portion of the referral bonus and the rest is dribbled out over time. This doesn't pay the bills.

What is also a shame is LL has given the impression something would replace the DI so those who have strong content without the camping chair scams didn't really go out and make a lot of changes, holding out for the next new thing which isn't here and the bills are coming due..

Haven't read all this, just glanced at it from time to time to see what the state of Furnation was, but I did glance at one part, and I want to say that

Animal avatars without clothes aren't naked! No no no. My cat isn't nude either! Or my dog! They are wearing their fur coats. Animals don't wear clothes.

coco

P.S. Robots and aliens without clothes aren't nude either.

Indeed. I wonder what they will remove next?

My dogs are naked when they take off their collars.

:D

Just an FYI for all, M2 staffer Roy Kerensky did an excellent and informative article on the problems at FurNation which I think many of you would enjoy. It is prominently placed as the front page story of this week's Metaverse Messenger.

That's right! Can you imagine Travis Lambert in anything but his red collar? (And occasional fireman outfit?)

Travesty!
