is it just me or are people's profiles becoming increasingly hostile?

Ok, for my sake, could someone please tell me what the hell mapping is?

How does one do it? Why would one want to do it?

Oh, I've got one of those.

At one point, as much as three or four times a week:

"omg ur slexchange terminal stole my money pls refund or i tell the lindons"

or

"hi2u can u put slexchange terminal on my club in cordova thx"

or

"hi i need u to move ur slexchange terminal on my land to the south ty"

etc.

Because, you see, I built a terminal for SLExchange. So my name was listed as the creator on dozens (hundreds?) of SLExchange terminals all over the grid.

That was so much fun.

I designed the original Gigas Vendor.

I feel your pain.

My virtual ass? In which case I'll simply sit on my butt and think, 'tosser'...

My real ass? Given my location, they'd have to be to be a damn good shot.

It's not good, making someone laugh like this in front of all his work mates. You should be ashamed!

Sitting on a prim or the ground doesn't prevent your av from being shot away (or at least having your name and chat focus moved away despite your av remaining) if the force is powerful enough. LL needs to address these issues still...

Personaly I just had enough of having to parrot the same replies to the same questions over and over again.

I tend to use all-caps on the important bits because when I dont, they completly miss on the text and just rush to press the "Instant Message" button.

It has so far never failed me, despite a very concentrated effort on the part of multiple griefers simultaniously, each armed with orbiting devices I know from firsthand experience to be extremely effective.

Mapping is looking someone up on the Map, you need to be a Friend for that to work. This can sometimes follow by them teleporting direct to you while you're engaged in inflatable clown suit bondage. Embarassing. :)

Remember kids, it's polite to knock before entry.

It's ironic that a lot of nasty profiles can be seen hanging around the 'welcome' area!

When you have made a friendship with someone - rather than just exchanging cards - you will find that on the map view you have an extra option "Show on map", and you can teleport right to where they are without being sent a tp. This can be a problem to people who cyber or frequent less than salubrious places, as people can just turn up right in the middle of whatever they are doing unannounced.

The courteous method is, of course:

Player A messages Player B "Hey what you doing"
Player B: "Building, want to come on over"
Player A: "Sure"
Player B sends player A a teleport.

Rather than:

Player A teleports direct to Player B.
Player B: "Oh yeah baby that's ... HEY WTF GET OUT"

As I don't seek out such low forms of pleasure in SL, it doesn't bother me... but it does bother some.

It's not all about Sex, Lewis. Some of us just don't like having people dropping by randomly.

Mapping gives someone you met once and didn't much care for a beam-me-up-scotty pass to follow you everywhere and appear in every facet of your second life. Clown bondage aside, sometimes a girl just needs a little alone time. XD

I dont TP to any without send an IM first and ask: Hello is it OK, shall we meet... bla bla bla... and that include my GF (Partner).

We AL (?) need time IRL as in SL - to have privacy and to be alone.

No one of AL I have shared cards with are suddenly at my side..

/Tina that not mention any about her..

*snickers* It's even more fun when the griefer decides to sit on the chair you're working on...

Me: Please stop shooting at other people and move so I can finish this.
Them: No.
Me: Fine.. *yank chair into inventory, sending said idiot flying a wee bit away* Now, go play nicely.
Them: WTF?! How u do that?!

At this point I, my friend and a couple others all AR'd the person, but all the while snickering at them.

I think that my profile simply states, "Please do not ask about my personal information. It makes me uncomfortable and I will lie to you about it."

I am surprised people are reading profiles because I very rarely do!
I see dozens of profiles a month. Almost every day at least one person buys duplicates of copyable plants from Fate Gardens so I look them up via FIND to pay their refund. At that point, I'm faced with their profile. Imagine how I feel when voluteering to refund money to an unwary buyer and being told GET 43LL AWAY FRM ME U A$$.

I love the profiles that so insistently let you know that the resident in question "hates drama" and then the profile goes on to tell you why another person is a jerk.

I'm starting to be rude in SL. I find myself not answering IM's and TP'ing away when somebody has mapped me. Too many people here were raised without being taught basic manners.

But, if your profile makes you out to be an asshole, don't be surprised when people treat you like one.
