Gosh, I've had so many enemas it's hard to keep track.

Oops, wrong thread.

I think this deserves it's own thread.

The reason I ask this question has to do with working within large groups, in particular the complex permutations invovled with large groups. Has anybody found that it becomes difficult to form and maintain large groups when everybody seems to be enemies with everybody else? "I refuse to work with them" etc...

I think group dynamics are always difficult, enemies or not, but I know what you mean. As the type of person who gets along with most people, and who judges only on my own experiences with them, I'm always surprised to find out that two people I like hate each other. It happens often though. Since SL has the built in Drama Magnifier 4000 it makes groups even more challenging than they are in real life. I only have one person that could be considered an enemy, and really more of an arch nemesis than an enemy. The chances that I'd participate in a group with that particular individual is exactly nil.

:D

My answer to Aimee's question: I have no clue.

I like everyone I have met. People are so cool.

How many people do I irritate? I have no clue (please, please, please do not tell me--"cluelessness is next to godliness";). :D

I selected 2-4, but that's basically a guess. I'm aware there are some people who feel I'm too blunt and/or not PC enough, and don't like me for that, but I don't really care.

I'm too apathetic to go out of my way to screw with someone, so I suppose the more honest choice would be, 2-4 people that I wish would just go away.

Well, in Second Life, I don't really see the point of enemies. There is nothing anyone can do to me to really make me want to do anything negative to them on purpose. The worst I had was a griefer that wanted to shoot me, but that is not that hard to deal with, and now I don't really care what happens to him. I do seem to have alot of people make a great deal of complaints to me. I try to actually work with people best I can, and I will try to improve after constructive criticism. There are some things I simply will not stop doing, like selling land. That seems to build enemies alone. Odd that these people would likely not consider real estate investors as evil.

In real life I had a great deal of enemies. Most of them were U.S. soldiers, and I was a U.S. soldier myself. My first military unit, I trusted everyone as my brother, and my last military unit I had to watch my back every second. When we were lucky enough to live in barracks, you always brought your baseball bat to the door. When you were sleeping outside, you slept with a sheathed knife in your hand. I was not the only one to do either of these things. The unit was divided into several groups that were constantly out to hurt each other physically as much as possible. One thrown in prison for murder, one dead with friendly rounds in him, one thrown in prison for assault and battery, over a dozen suicides, and over 4 dozen that are just lucky that people will agree to fight back and not report. If you threaten me in that way, I fight back as much as I have to until you want to stop. Luckily, there is nothing in SL like that, so I doubt I'll ever have any true enemies.

Wow Dark, that boggles the mind, if you consider soldiers should be working together.

I don't have anyone in sl or rl, who i consider a enemy, i do had some people in highschool who i considered a enemy because they randomly choosed people to harash and it was just better staying alert for it.

If we are talking about working together in SL(the reason why Aimee started this thread) i would have maybe a couple of people i would prefer to not work with. If the project is worthwhile i would beable stand above it, but would try to make it so my interactions would be minimal. I don't call these people enemies just nuisances.

I am too tired to look - but aren't you the person who started the "Free Accounts Will Make More Furries" (paraphrased) thread?

There are alot of people in SL that want to treat me like a Gor slave. I may not be the most forceful person but really? Then again, there are a lot of really nice people out there.

The trick is to seperate one group from the other.

So far so good, I know of only one person in Sl that needs to be put in the collar!

Barney music? That does sound cruel. Maybe some other childrens music can be used. Can I play music so only my target group hears it?Wont want to harm some inocent bystander with my WMD! ;)

If anyone* feels left out by not having any enemies to speak of, I hereby offer the service, free of charge. If you'd like me to be your enemy, get in touch and we'll work something out.

* Note: Anyone named Aimee Weber need not apply, as you are already my enemy.

Lately the subject of SL enemies has come up and I began to wonder, how many enemies is a good number!? For the sake of this poll, lets define an enemy as the following:

An SL enemy is someone you dislike beyond the point of indifference, where you may actively change your bahavior to avoid them or score "points" against them.

Please do not name your enemies or hint at who they are. This thread should not be used to score some of those aforementioned points :D . Instead, I thought this would be an interesting topic and it would be good for self reflection.

I have no enemies. I may have people who think they are my enemy, or who think I am their enemy, but I, in my own person, do not admit such a thing.

Hell, in real life there's only two people I consider to be my enemy, in a personal way. One of them had to get my dad shot to get on the list. It takes quite a bit to move me from "momentarily annoyed" to "hatred".

What did Dark post? Can't find it anywhere....

Sometimes I think it's good that people are so invested in SL that it is possible to have enemies. Full gamut of behavior here is what makes it seem immersive, as much as 3D rendering I would argue. So enemies/nemesis are sign of the platform's possibility.

What worries me is the general punk-ass culture of online worlds, where people attack and flame each other because there is no immediate consequence for doing so. That breeds enmity!

Do Tell Me how to make more mistakes :(

Well, I managed to make two more enemies today. I will not say their names but one of them is RICH and thinks this makes whatever they do correct. Well rich SNOB, I have placed you on my ban list for my whole 1536 sm of land. I didnt realise that thet BIG ship and what looked like a hotel are your private areas. I had just wanted to talk with my friend. Am still new to SL and didnt realise needed an invitation to be in your royal presence.

I will not bother your grace, nor can you bother me. I have muted your fat mouth. Also again there are no names here but you know who you are.

See kind readers, that is how enemies are made, mostly by accident.

Ranma,

If it's any consolation, there is no such thing as private areas in second life, apart from private islands.

The rest of us are entitled to go anywhere we like. People can discourage us by various means, but the fact is no one has an entitlement to privacy.

Well, you can eject someone from your land without much effort. One second I was on the deck of the cruise ship, the next I was falling into the sea. Made my usual head first landing! Doubt that his/her Grace reads but it does not matter.

Maybe a Linden will make a conment on this subject? I intend to leave them alone. I am (what is that word) venting? to rid myself of this.

I think they do it since they have power here and want to exercise it. Probally are completly halpess in rl.

It's okay to vent! And most have had that sort of thing at one time or another, so we feel your pain!
