I'm sorry, but this is just so non-PC, that I absolutely adore it. Criticism of Torley is truely the last SL taboo and it's time someone broke it. ~Ulrika~

One of the most mean-spirited dissapeard, ironically, when Tolrey's forum account was hacked... I don't think there are any real taboo subjects in SL - certainly not on the forums.

I remember the good old days when Torley was pretending to be autistic. Now he's rattling off corporate slang ("distilling achievables is a key goal" like a pro. ~Ulrika~

When I see buzzwords like the crap quoted above, all that tells me is either the person saying it is a fucking dimwit or he/she thinks the target audience are dumbshits. If someone working for me stated "distilling achievables is a key goal" seriously to me about a project or task, they would probably be fired. Buzzwords are the most condescending form of communication I know of. To me it's worse than cursing.

See what comes of drinking the koolaid?

I am often unhappy with LL, many people have been. I've often been unhappy with my electric company, my cable company, etc. The one thing I try hard not to do because I feel it is totally unfair, is target a single specific employee in the company for merely doing their job. When you do that, you're no longer taking up issue with the company or even attempting to make them hear your complaints, you're just making yourself look mean spirited and setting out to hurt someone's feelings. Torley nor any other specific employee is responsible for LL policies. Their responsibility is to do what they are expected to do to keep their jobs.
If your electric company suddenly decided to double your bill and there happened to be an employee in the company who felt this was wrong, would you really expect that employee to shout and complain for your benefit at the expense of their job? Would you in their position?
None of us knows whether or not all of the LL employees are in agreement over this decision or not and we won't ever know, because each one of them is going to simply do their jobs as they've been told to do, as they are expected to do. It would be unfair to fault them for that.

OK, I love Torley the person, but I have to agree that as a Linden that makes her fair game.
It's nothing personal. It's raging against the machine.
I think Torley would understand.
(and a part of me has to believe that Torley even approves, although she would never admit it.)

(and a part of me has to belive that Torley even approves, although she would never admit it.) That was how I personally felt about it as well, I feel Torley has her hands tied behind her back. Torley as the watermeloney person would never have let the forums die. Torley as Linden has to follow corporate directives.

While I think Torley, by nessessity, has become somewhat of a corporate lackey, he/she is still one of the most concerned, accessible, and hard working Lindens out there, and for that, should be praised rather than insulted or attacked.

Personally I find the sugary pap linked to above, regardless of which EMPLOYEE said it, to be both nauseating and insulting. From: someone Now, doing something and distilling achievables is a key goal. We have so much to contend with, and we want to have a clearer path to do the best for our community.
What does this mean?
Less friction, more focus. More visible results. More openness, more Linden voices not being buried, etc. It means for me personally that I spend less time handling forum moderation, and more time grabbing gems and aggregating them so Resident Experience bugs can be fixed SOONER! It's very interconnected--I have only so many hours in a day to work, and I want to make the best of it. It *also* means that I get a clearer view of problems so we can jump on them quicker, with lessened repetitive and redundant noise. Seriously ... does anyone actually buy into this load of crap? Who doesn't find this condescending? As for any arguments about Torley, well, like I said when he was hired, Torley Turgonsen died the day Torley Linden was born.

~Ulrika~ *lifts a brow* "Pretending to be autistic"? This is the first time I've thought something you said to be genuinely meanspirited, Ulrika.

Sharp criticisms, and tough questions are fair. Cruelty is not.
I sincerly hope Torley focuses on the fact that the majority of folks that cross her path adore and respect her while reading this thread.
If it were me burning on the stake instead, I'm not sure I'd have the strength of spirit not to take it to heart.

I don't think reusing 20+ year old imagery coined by company which long since then turned into what they've been pretending to 'rage' against ... is going to carry much of a message. Aside from unintentional irony, of course ^^

Any visible Linden management is gonna get hammered at this point. If I were in Torley's position, I'd resent having to take the heat while senior management hides.
Where's Philip during this PR crisis? Too busy distilling achievables, maybe?
