Why my animosity towards LindenLabs is fading

Going back to Blaze's original post -

Why do you think that is? I haven't quite figured it out. Ever since I joined there were major dramas, often painful to read. The earliest I remember had to do with high prim bookshelves.

The dramas continued with a week break now and then until, well, it's a been a while but not too long - a few months?

What changed? Jeska? The forum layout? Other things?

I think the free account giveaway has helped a bit.

However, I also think they'll move back in. And then things will be bad, the lindens won't do anything about it, and people will be angry again.

What saddens me about this, is that these forum moderation concepts are very very basic. There are many senior examples of well moderated forums on the internet, but the powers at LL refuse to do the research and look around and see how the experienced people do it.

We have censorship on these forums. You can't get away from it. The key is to do it right - it's not that hard to do.

I know! When Merwan left it really transformed the forums.

I'm probably a bit off topic here, but I noticed this comment in your original post, Blaze...

... I can't do include files, programming in LSL is a nightmare ...

Sure SL doesn't have includes in the internal editor, but lucky for us there's always people out there trying to provide workarounds for some things like this. Have you ever looked at SciTE-Ez? I use it for every reasonable sized project I work on these days.

I use emacs, it has all the same bells and whistles. I dropped in a symbol table as well.

I find scite-ez can't load files without doing some kind of mega-pause in the windows file dialog if I have SL up and running at the same time.

Whether it be from "malaise" or from disagreement with SL and how they do things, they have pretty much all moved on, and in their place are a new wave of optimistic, fresh, insightful, mature and very very creative individuals.

yathink that's it? "malaise"?

me, I think it was the suspensions.
