An Escort is a Prostitute

This topic has come up before (several times) and I still think a true "escort" service might do very well in Second Life. Intelligent, witty and attractive men and women willing to be a companion to clients, socially, or just be a great person to talk to and relax with.

Their manners, style of dress, ability to converse in an interesting and engaging way would all play a large part in the success of such a venture.

If there was sex involved, as there might be on occasion, that would be an enturely seperate thing from the escort service and would be no one's business but their own.

As for prostitution, I'm all for it and all for legalizing it. It is indeed the world's oldest profession (outside of hunter/gatherer) and if done in a safe and clean environment, can provide a wonderful service for those in need, helping curtail other more unwanted sexual urges and crimes.

Again, a persons body is their own and as long as they aren't harming anyone else, they should be free to do with it what they will.

In real life when i make a mental image of a prostitute i think of a poor young girl living in squalid conditions, having sex for money and having to give most of it to a pimp.
when i make a mental image of an Escort, i think of someone at least 20 year olds, fairly sophisticated, well dressed and good company.
Both i think are paid for sex? but its a different way of life completely for both i think.

In SL i am actually an Escort, i dont think i am a Prostitute simply because of my lifestyle in game, but it wouldnt upset me if someone called me such either

I find it rather Ironic that its socially more acceptable on the forums to be a D/S subbie , Or Gorean Slave than it is an Escort.

Considering that being an exotic dancer or a prostitute is a much more "Vanillia" sexual fantasy than BDSM or being a Kajira.

I think part of it is becuase Men want their sex for free. And stamping out Prostitution leads in their minds to more women giving it away. And due to the egos involved to them presumably.

And another part is women dont want their men sneaking around behind their back and getting any sex , paid for or not. Thus they think he wont cheat on them if theres less women around who will have casual sex.

I dont think its more or less acceptable. People slam the Goreans and subbies all the time here. I just think the people that are against it speak up more and the ones of us that have no problem with it dont always have a need to post.

The only diff is that Escort is faster to type - otherwise I don't mind either one. SL is supposed to be about self expression and choice. Being an Escort is a choice - and thats up to the individual.

Oh, and from talking to friends in that biz - I gather that strippers get paid somewhat better. Thats a customer choice. But again, I have no issue with clad or unclad dancers.

Usually it is a woman or the occasional bible-thumping man that does the anti-prostitute posts.

Some women think it is degrading to women, and some men are so tempted that they become Prostiture-phobics.

Sex is natural, a person's body is their own..yadda yadda.

No one would blink an eye if I bought a woman an expensive dinner, a night out on the town, jewelry, etc, and then had sex with her. But they would scream bloody murder if I just saved time and slipped her some cash to do with as she would.

I have to agree with you on both points... Besides SL is for me a place to create... RL is a place for me to be satisfied... why cheat in either... it leads to headaches and if with an escort or prostitute you loose valuable shopping money

Im merely trying to understand the actual motivation of those who are so vocally opposed to SL Escorts.
