posted this is the events forum, double posting here:
proposing to eliminate yard sales from the events calendar and redirecting folks to the classifieds where they belong in most cases.
also added the following text to the ever-increasing events posting rules :
'Advertisements for commercial products or services will be deleted from the events calendar. Repeated misuse of the event posting system for this purpose may lead to disciplinary action.'
thumbs up or thumbs down....?

I agree that fake yard sales need to go. I never really saw a "yard sale" as an event anyway. What needs to happen is enforcement. Make the rule and enforce it!

definitely thumbs up. i never really use the events calendar, but i used to and i remember a time when there were several interesting events in the top 10 - 20 listings on a constant basis. i would love to see the Events Calendar truly reflect events rather than just an announcement board for "yard sales" and other such commonalities that exist on a 24/7 basis. (just had to make a note that this is post #1234 )

But still, thumbs up! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- laffin at all of the above !! i, my family and many friends in real life have never had to pay to advertise yard sales as our state wide paper has an area for free listings of such as it is considered an enhancement to the public and help to those that cannot afford to pay for brand new stuff so i found that comment funny like wow gee where do people live that they cant even advertise a yard sale for free And yes the real world is totally screwed up lolol But yeah, whatever lol thumbs up as i have no care on this either way cuz i am one that pays my full way in sl and then some and when i sell my inventory i sell it at a near complete loss so it wouldnt matter to me if anyone came to my sale or not lmao i can just trash it and earn the same money and thats no big deal cuz it seems most people love making their stuff as no transfer causing you to have to trash your money anyhow if ya want to clear inventory and i only run sales on the very little that is actually transferrable for the pure fun of it as people have fun when they come to my land cuz i always have nice things for others to enjoy like its not about 'the sale' its about the fun as far as i am concerned. And you all have a most wonderful evening, day, morning lol whatever you are in !!

If fake yard sales aren't allowed, it should be consistent for all stores not being allowed to post on the events calendar. Another thought might be to allow postings of all yard sales one time on the calendar rather than multiple postings.

Why not just keep commercial events filtered out unless you select that category?

Thumbs up - Events should be about events.
A glorified 'shop' masquerading as an event aint it...
There may be a legitimate 'yard sales' out there that are gonna suffer.. like DI being yanked will hurt several places that are genuinely developed!
ppl will game things until the pimp hand is laid down.. then its a lil loss for everyone.
A bit of the reversal of the pimp phrase:
Don't hate the game... .hate the playah.
