Why Women like SL?

I think there are plenty of advantages to being a woman in SL, firstly, the money-making aspect. Women can get jobs way easier using their, um, "assets" than men can. This is partially the reason so many RL men have female AV's.
Secondly, there is more choice in terms of clothing, hair, etc and they are more interesting.
Thirdly, as others have mentioned, there's more of a sense of equality, and normally shy people have the security to speak out.
I love SL, and I hope it stays so gender friendly as it expands.

I enjoy it because of the shopping and the cheap entertainment, its 100+ degrees outside
but... about the mens network and yadda yadda.. sorry girls.. but marilyn said it best.. "i don't mind its a man's world as long as i get to be a woman in it"
i believe in equal pay and rights and yadda yadda.. but i do enjoy being myself and the perks that come with

I was drawn in because I like unconveniently games. RPGs etc are fun, but they bore me fast. I'll admit games like the Sims, Harvest Moon, and even the .hack series are my preferred type of gaming because, while they have some RPG elements, they are incredibly open ended. I like to explore, change my appearance, build, personalize the world around me. That's what convinced me to give in and create an account.
However, I've stayed because it's appealed to those likes in games so well. "BOO HISS IT'S NOT A GAME". It's immersive enough that it's a part of my lifestyle, not the whole thing, but not something I hide. It feeds my odd foibles and appetite for creative and ever-evolving environments and passtimes.
It has nothing to do with being my being a woman. I just enjoy the unconventional. ^^

I came here and enjoy SL because of the freedome to do as I like. can hang with friends or creat stuff, Go search around do something different every day if you wanted. Its not all set content like MMOPRGS.

Don't have to stay loged in endless hours to get anything done, can log in 5 minutes or 5 hours if I wanted.

and top of the list I love how I can spend all day shopping if I wanted, and still have more to go see. Shopping is one of the things I do most, I love it and can't get enough of it.

clothes, clothes, clothes... why woman like SL, did i say wonderful clothes?

I love the creative freedom SL presents. The zero to low cost of creation in SL is incredibly appealing to me. The ease and safety of social interaction is also a huge appeal.

The net/web as well as SL allows one to meet folks without worrying about getting followed home by a cretin, which I'm sad to say can be quite a deterrant IRL.

I enjoy hanging out and chatting with my friends about nothing and everything, as IRL.

I like that I can explore SL at my own pace. I have pathetically slow reflexes and just end up getting killed in the first few seconds of almost every other game I've ever tried.

And I hate shopping in RL because nothing ever fits there. But I've turned into something of an SL shopaholic.

i think i would like sl better if i got to shot ppl.. could some of you come up to me and be rude so i have a reason to shot someone?

Second Life is nice because I can just walk around and have fun without worrying about leveling up and getting myself prepared for the next boss. Shooting, killing, butchering and slaughtering may be fun to some but I have never gotten into it. Call me weird...

What is funny about this for me is that, as a middle aged straight male, I like the clothes too. That is, I have a sexy female AV that I wear sometimes, and I like trying to put together a nice outfit.

So not only is this why some women like SL, it is the way I feel *while* I have my female av on.

as a new comer, I'd have to disagree with this. There are obvious networks and clicks in SL. Theres snobbery based on how long you have been playing too. There might not be men only type networks, but tothers just as "bad" ones do.
