This Stig is very pissed off that the "select individual" is now a check box that constantly needs turning on again and again

Because now you can shift-select multiple prims within an object and adjust them all at once, which is a tremendous improvement. With the old Select Individual method you could only select one prim at a time, hence the term "individual", and then there was precious little you could do with them.

Besides, even with the old way you still had to uncheck Select Individual if you wanted to work on whole objects. That part of it is nothing new. It's just that before to uncheck Select Individual you had to check something else. Now you press the same button to check and uncheck. I fail to see how it's anymore difficult to press the button at the bottom of the column than any other button. It's just a question of getting used to remembering to press the right one. That's all.

What I would like to see though is a hotkey assigned to the checkbox. In most other 3D programs, you can easily switch between "component mode" and "object mode" by simply pressing a key. This is much quicker and simpler than using the mouse to check and uncheck a box on the screen. While we're on the subject, hotkeys for many of the other options in the editor would be useful as well.

Local axis snap-to-grid is kinda annoying. When I have something at an angle, and want to move it along local axis, the snaps can all be funny sizes. I have to change the size of the object to get it where I want it, then change it back to the original size. It is good for some things though.

I guess it depends a lot on what you actually need to do when building, and your style of doing it. For me, the new style is annoying. A hotkey I could live with very happily, though. Or perhaps a setting in the preferences somewhere to change the behaviour of the checkbox, i.e. stay checked until I tell you to uncheck!
