From: The Tracer I am a Thesis Student at Norwich University and I will be constructing a virtual architecture school teaching crash courses in design/build. Would anyone be interested in this as a potential student? Please add me to your list of interested people. I lecture design computing in the Architecture Department at the University of Strathclyde, and have an MSc student who is just starting a thesis project on designing in virtual worlds. More later...

Interesting idea - please add me to your "interested" list. Though my interest is more on how much I like that RL building does not much apply to SL - avatar sizes and POV and movement are not human, though we like details that resonate with our RL perceptions. I like watching extreme noobs walk though something I just built vs experienced players walking through the same thing - I'm a new builder with much to learn. Everyone likes splashy water and hates getting stuck behind walls, but those are the only absolutes I've discovered so far.

I must say that I am very pleased with the response I am getting from the SL community. It is my intention that this new architecture school will become an important learning center to designs in SL. I am keeping track of who is interested and who may be able to contribute to the education process. This project will be completed in May, so until then, this messageboard will serve as a way of exchanging ideas and keeping track of who is interested. Thank you for all of your support and ideas, keep them coming.

You can add me to the list, as well. However, I'm European, i.e. depending on the class hours, I will or will not be able to participate.
Has there been a definitive date set yet?

Interested as well.
However, the limitations with building complex architectural structures in SL is that you can't put them on cheap firstland (limited to 116 prim). You have to keep your architectural creation in your inv..
Will the school be offering showcase spaces (parcels) for student design?

I know nothing about architecture...

...but would absolutely love to learn some.
One thing I'm a bit curious about though... Why not have the charter students build the school as part of the lesson? I'd be more than happy to *give* you my parcel as my Inventory is overstuffed as it is... LOL.

Yes I am interested and would like to be included in this project. My interest lies in ability to not have doors and make areas of the home/building able to pass through but not others for traffice flow, have also been considering water incased in glass like walls and being able to change consistency of water for privacy and view instead of normal window tinting.
Look forward to being included with all these great people

Hi all, again thank you for your support. I am currently looking for an individual (a registered architect) to play a small role in the opening of the architetcure school in May. This may include streaming audio as well as to be in-world during the presentation as a critic. If you are interested please IM me in SL.
Also, I am starting to put together a list of those who may be able to contribute to SLSA (Second Life School of Architecture). This would include experienced SL builders, SL theorists, and Real-World registered architects. I have a few names from previous posts but if you think you can contribute please either post it here or IM me in SL. Thank you again.
