It's true, the LSL Wiki has returned, now hosted at LSLwiki.com. This is the complete database as it existed on SecondLife.com as of the moment it was taken down. Your logins are all the same. There's still a couple redirect problems I haven't cleaned out yet, but it works. I'll finish fixing that stuff tomorrow. In the meantime, happy LSLing.

Dear Catherine Omega and to whom else it may concern:
I have been an active user of the LSL wiki for nearly two years now, almost as long as I have been a citizen of SL. The LSL wiki is the first place that I, and I'll warrant many others like me, turn for help when trying to cook up rich new content that enhances the SL experience for all. Your efforts in creating and sustaining the wiki have provided a means of self-empowerment to many, perhaps hundreds of scripters throughout our nascent metaverse's short life. That is why with a heavy heart, I must roundly condemn your recent heavyhanded decision, exercised without any discernable community dialogue, focus group, representatively sampled survey, expert consultation or even ad-hoc committee formation. I feel; and I am sure that once this call is sounded, it will be seconded and even taken up as a banner issue by the larger scripting community; that the LSL wiki's development has been held back by this terrible decision-- after all, a wiki is a living document of sorts, bound to grow and evolve (yes, I daresay "evolve" in today's fundamentalist world). Unfortunately this growth is stifled, cut off in its very spring growth, so to speak, when autocratic FIC "people" (and I use the term loosely) use their despotic connections with Linden Lab to enforce a hegemonaic control over, in this case, both the format and the content of the wiki. To bring the matter to a head, why was the glittery bling wiki logo removed summarily???!@ Prok^C^C^C^C Kage edit: there had been some discussion amongst us in the peanut gallery of setting up wiki mirrors in the event of the Rapture. Does the LSL wiki's underlying software make this an easy thing for you to accomodate? If not, I won't press you about it further-- just trying to help. _____________________

Now is the time to discuss this.
Changing Wiki Engines. Wakka is a peice of trash. Its out of date and lacks alot of advanced features. At this time I suggest we move to MediaWiki. To help in the transition, the content can be userped from http://rpgstats.com/wiki/ Not to mention it does some things better. The LSL Wikki is down.. Just got an error. Been using too much CPU.. Someone's turned the site off? er.. Suspended?!
Nvm.. back up again.. Just got a screen that said the wiki was down.. suspended.. too much CPU usage.. but I guess it fixed itself.. Edit: and it's back down again.. ok.. as far as I'm concerned the wiki is still down.. it hasn't been restored yet.. and is unreliable in it's present state. I second the aforementioned notion of an upgrade to more modern, and more effecient wiki software, especially if said software gives those who are willing and approved (by you or other admin to the wiki) the ability to mirror said wiki and help distribute the load. |

SL for whatever reason decided not to host the wiki on their site anymore, while ms omega was in the process of moving it LL gave us a mirror to work from ,.... it was made in 2004 i had a copy from june laying around and tru efforts that became the offical mirror that /badgeo now points you 2 meanwhile the offical wiki has come back up @ lslwiki.com but LL, who can make a virutual world, cannot seem to be bothered to change 1 link on a website lslwiki is the old /badgeo wiki just on a new host... that is the offical one true wiki |

We hope to have the information back online here soon. really means The LSL wiki has been moved off this server, its tempoarily disabled untill the owner can find a sutible host, transfer all that data and reinstall it for public use which has happened spt 22 lslwiki.com and i dont actually run that mirror... i provided a offline copy of the wiki from june of 06, the onwer of that site then took that data put on their site and got the lindens to change the mirror site from the 2004 site to the june 2006 site Mainly for that moment of need and if you goto that mirror its stated that the offical wiki is back up and provides a link |

Just some clarifications..
The site at http://www.rpgstats.com/wiki/ is my site. It was started July 31st, 2006, as a test bed for moving the LSL WIKI over to MediaWiki as there were several posts and comments that people wanted that to happen. I worked by myself to manually move content between the WIKI's off and on up until the day LL's shut down the official WIKI. At that time LL's, on their own, posted my site as the mirror to go to while the Official WIKI was down. As my Wiki was not complete, I opted to place one of the static mirrors on my site with a link to it so people would have access to it. I also worked many hours to fill in the missing content from google cache links in my MediaWiki. MediaWiki has some issues that make it problematic for hosting the LSL WIKI. Mostly due to their case sensitivity. Right now there are people editing either the Official Wiki or my MediaWiki. I'm not comfortable with this myself as it is a duplication of work and a seperation of efforts. I will probably very soon turn off editing of my version of the WIKI as I do not want to seperate the community. Which is why I post a big link to the Official Wiki on the first page of my site. One thing I will mention. I am very much against the crawling of the Official Wiki just to make a "personal archive". Too many people are doing this and it is eating up the resources of the Official Wiki. If you truely feel a static mirror of the Wiki is valuable. Contact Catherine Omega and work out a way to do so once a week and provide that mirror to everyone who wants it. Multiple site crawlers are a bad thing. |
