Mysterious!! Indeed! "The Rolling Restart for Friday was completed but is not yet finished", tells the blog thing. I guess that means they'll be drizzling a nice caramel glaze onto the grid and browning it on Monday, after the sugar is delivered. Mmm, caramel. |

Maybe the lack of traffic at the club I worked at today and yesterday was primarily due to the people in many different time zones, and many of them have other commitments in real life. Maybe Friday, along with Saturday, are both dry days for some clubs because many people do party in RL during that time.
Well, at least Pyrite can accompany me at the club tomorrow, invite her friends, and give the club a new life again. |

Ready for 1.24.9 on Tuesday, revelation of whatever the bug/exploit was in an obscure "it was, but it wasn't" added footnote late Thursday night, and then experimental deploy of 1.25 Friday afternoon in time to bork the entire weekend.

(was stopped for some reason). b. The rolling restart is fully complete, but 1.24.8 isn't "the complete fix we were hoping for". The rest of that sentence is the really important part... [RESOLVED 2:36PM 10-04-08] The Rolling Restart for Friday was completed but is not yet finished. We will post more on the status of the server upgrade early next week. Looks like we'll need to be patient, and wait a couple more days, to learn more. ERGO: LL has lowered the priority from "OMG Emergency! It's Friday? Sounds more like the one last Friday didn't do all they hoped and they had engineers work the weekend to get a new version out, which Prospero is deploying late this Sunday night. |

Good idea! The problem is that between the blog, status page, and these forums, it is already difficult to keep the information current. What makes you think an in-world status device would get reliably updated? oh lets see maybe because said object would be tied into the core api of the server grid and certain keywords in the blog/status page ect do it right and updating the other stuff would update the beacon |

Am I the only one who is wondering if information policy has become even worse since Katt Linden entered the picture in April?
One of her first changes was hiding the grid status page where it wouldn't be seen by every user anymore. We’ve been posting Status Updates mixed in with a variety of posts on other topics. We realize that many of you don’t want to have to hunt through the blog for needed Status information, so in an effort make it easier for you, we’re following the tech industry standard and moving that information to a Status page. BTW, I liked hunting through the blog while there was still something to hunt for. The main blog has never been as empty as it is now before. Some Residents have told me they worry the Linden Lab Blog is quieter than usual, and that this may reflect a decreased commitment by us to communication. In fact, the opposite is true. We’re making changes to enhance dialogue with you through adding better tools and organization along with fewer constraints. Let's wait for the tools - lol. And now, there are only cryptic remarks about rolling restarts and that we will be informed in ample time. Whenever this will be. There are no threads at the forum for these rolling restarts to deploy server-version 007. Maybe someone watched too much James Bond films after making M the new CEO. /me wonders if it's worth my time visiting these pages anymore. |

I think poor prospero is going to have a stress attack with some of these posts Luckily, you (or me, or Prospero) don't have to read ALL these posts, and it's pretty easy to spot those forum members that always troll, whine, don't provide help or constructive criticism. Just HIDE their posts! This forum is powered by a software that lets you easily hide ALL posts/replies from a certain forum member. Just open a member profile, and click "Add XXX to Your Ignore List". By the way I also think this is better than replying to these members and trying to explain why their posts aren't welcome. For sure, it's faster. (Christos: I acknowledge your reply was about a different point: I assume you're already in the Battery Street Irregulars / Nightly Builds program, right?) |
