new UI graphic -yuck

I just loaded the new 1.20.0. The new color and icon scheme for the UI is like looking back at old Win-95 silvery blue and annoyingly bright desktop theme. Beyond the issues of needing to squint against the glare and just hating the color scheme, one bit of feedback on the new look would be to allow us to change the base color, or better yet apply or own themes to the clients UI.

Im just suprised they didnt include some way to adjust the bloody colors

Yuck is right! I like the work being down irt menu item placement and arrangement, but this new interface is way way too bright...and the contrast is not strong enough for me. I love the classic dark interface because it lets the rich colors of SL shine through.

A simple experiment is simply check out a photo gallery that uses Black as the background and one that uses White.

If anyone knows what PicLens is (piclens.com); try to imagine them using White for the background!

Anyhow...the solution is simple: offer a Preference of Classic Dark or IN YOUR FACE BRIGHT RAZZLE DAZZLE!

Anyhow...not to worry, there are already a set of files available from the community to change the UI back to it's former glorious unobtrusive darkness with great contrast.

I had not even heard of Dazzle until the update wanted to be installed.. I downloaded it and installed it, no change log.. No warning "This client will look terrible.. Get ready!"

So I start it up and Oww.. Instant eye pains.. I thought it hadn't loaded correctly. So I log in, after about 15 minutes of logging in I get in and I am running at about 1/4 the FPS I used to and still do on the normal and past version! This doesn't need tweaking, it needs removing!

I now crash using Dazzle if I teleport or log into any simulator with anything happening! I;ve ended up sending about 50-100 crash reports

Fun! Isn't Dazzle so.. Amazing!

Oh, i want those! Please prvide pointer so I can return to the dark side.

The new UI is horrible, I was hoping Dazzle would stay one of those projects that never got released. I am not at all a fan of this new bright "look at me" Windows XP Fisher Price theme-esque look.

An interface should not take prominence over the program itself. It should be minimal, functional and fade away being easy on the eyes. If it had options to change the colors to make them darker, then fine, I suppose could live with it, but it will not do as it is.

Please, do not make the UI even more bulky than before with a color theme that blinds you.

I don't think the UI is horrible as UI's go..I just don't like that it seems to be actively _trying_ to draw my attention away from the actual stuff around me.

I liked the dark. I like the new graphics aside from the colour of windows and stuff. Maybe the new graphics but old colours?

We need a way to adjust colours!

I don't know why they waste their time with such silly stuff. It certainly doesn't seem any clearer or better to me. Frankly, as long as it works I don't care much, but changing it unnecessarily always riles people up. What's the point?

i just had to download the new viewer and it sucks big style is there a way to go back to the old viewer, which by the way SL there was nothing wrong with it

Well I dont mind the colors myself, but my problem is what did they do?Since Friday when I updated my client to the new 1.19.4 or w/e it is, my fps has gone to crap,crashes what were a rare thing for me, now happen on a regular basis,I download the Windlight when it was 1.19.0 and things seem to run a little better, now forced to update the Windlight, back to the really crapy frame rate no crashes yet.But found the older version of the regular client before the update I did Friday and now that has horrid fps...What are you guys doing?Why is it since I downloaded the updated version has everything gone to hell.Please fix this mr/mrs. lindens this is so bad it isn't even fun to log in anymore cause I cant do anything due to the crapy fps now.....this isn't a improvement, it's worse....

This new interface is far, far too flashy for my liking - hell, even the old one was too flashy as far as I'm concerned, but whatever.

My biggest gripe is the removal of my friends from the map screen! What the HELL? Now I have to tediously bring up people's profiles just to see which sim they're in.

Myself and my friends use the ability to follow eachother via the map constantly, and now this feature has been removed/made less accessible?

This is a huge annoyance.

Let's fix the memory leaks in the main viewer before moving headlong into yet another round of eye candy.

Yes it sucks big time. SL is NOT a regular computer application where you only concentrate on one thing at a time. SL is a graphic application where the main view is your main focus. I have several graphic applications, Poser, Bryce, Photoshop, DAZStudio, Hexagon, Vue D Esprit to name a few. The one thing they all have in common is a visually subdued UI
I am willing to bet the non-lose transparency IM panel is just a LL trick to make people stop using IM and blabber on in voice.

The color scheme looks very much like the old Office 2000 one. And this is supposed to be a step forward?????

This is like if Coke would change their colors to blue and green. There has to be at least an option to keep the colors you have gotten used and fond of in YEARS.....

The top dropdown box in the regular client will display a list of all online friends who have given you the right to see their location on the map. In the 'dazzle' viewers, this box has been removed.

My friends and I use this box constantly to quickly see where each of us is/what we're doing, and to quickly follow eachother from place to place.

Now what am I supposed to do? Painstakingly open up profile after profile just to find out where my buddies are?

What was so simple before is a real pain in the ass now.

But I do the same thing, just using the 'profile method', and so I'm not used to the ease you described, but to me, it's just a teeny tiny bit of work. Unless of course, you're finding like 10 friends for some reason o.o

Something I do on an almost hourly basis in SL.

All I can muster right now is "WTF, Linden Labs?"

This new interface is frickin' terrible. I hate it, and I feel like I'm playing "Hello Kitty: Island Adventure" or something stupid. Absolute crap. Stuff is impossible to read with the light-on-dark IM window and all the damned PASTEL BLUE! Why? It's a terrible color for even the buttons, yet you've dipped the whole bloody UI in it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take the RC/Windlight viewer back to the old colors ASAP! Right now I can't stay in-world for more than 10 minutes with this UI because it LITERALLY hurts my eyes.

If this is the type of thing you're going to spend your time on instead of stabilizing the sims and fixing all the crap you messed up by letting Havoc4 go to grid before it was ready, you have no place administrating any sort of network, much less one this big. What on earth would convince you that changing the UI so drastically was 1. a good idea, and 2. in any way necessary? I'm thinking someone needs to be fired. There are so many more important issues that you should have been working on.

You're thoroughly ruining my user experience in SL by doing things like this, and I have no doubt this will be another of the pleading messages that is completely ignored by your PR staff. I'm about ready to log off and never come back. Please sell your company to someone who can do it right. Please.

Part of the Dazzle Viewer is the ability to make it look the way you want. Below are instructions
to make it look more or less like older versions. It would be nice if it were a tab on preferences,
but at least its _possible_ to make custom changes.

(Note: I installed this and it looks good to me, YMMV)

Copy the content of those two folders into the right places in your SecondLifeReleaseCandidate

At the risk of beating this dead horse deader:

I can not stand the new coloring of the new UI. I always run the latest RC client ... except for this one. After about 10 minutes I killed it and brought up SL under the classic client.

One big fat 'UGH' from me.
