Ah got it going and it looks pretty good ...just one thing I noticed I have some floors covered in the coppertile texture...with the old viewer these were lovely rich coppery tones...with windlight they look almost whited out - like an over exposed photo. Anyone any ideas why ?

And isnt there a distance setting now - because its driving me mad trying to find it. I probably failed to read something somewhere....

Invisible people sometimes. All I can see is a name tag. Actually I've only noticed this in one place so far - atop a megaprim that is used for a second level of a sim, and not even consistently.

Crashing when entering mouselook most of the time.

A lot of textures that I upload look too dark unless I set "full bright" on them. Didn't have this problem before.

Maybe not a bug, but shiny stuff looks horrible in Windlight. I have an avatar with metal armor and instead of looking like chrome, it's bluish because of the sky. Really ruins the avatar!

Yeah I have the same problem here. I thought it was a problem with the settings or something, but then I read this in the release notes:

* 16-bit index buffers are now used instead of 32-bit buffers - improves memory bandwidth for rendering geometry

I'm guessing it's probably related.

One thing I forgot about when I first got the Windlight viewer; have you tried deleting your cache? The first time I tried to run it it just froze, I deleted my cache and it opened instantly.

I dunno where it is on Windows, but I imagine if you used the normal viewer to delete the cache, then try Windlight again it ought to work.

1. Sometimes stops responding at the "Precaching" stage
2. Users clothes take a long time to rez or show there skin as the clothes till they rez
3. Randomly closes (not a lot though)

Only a small strange bug to report:

It takes a few seconds longer to rez stuff, and my frame rates are higher.

Could be a problem with avatar impostors -- see http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3362 Try turning avatar impostors off (check the Custom box in Preferences/Graphics and then uncheck it) and see if the missing avatars appear.

The invisible people problem occurs with and without Avatar Impostors turned on, and like I said I've only noticed it in one sim while standing on a sim-sized megaprim at 600 altitude.

New bug I've encountered that had me pulling my hair out:
I made an animation in qavimator and when I previewed it in Windlight, it acted like the animation wasn't going to work at all. After tweaking it for 10 minutes and still having no luck, I decided to just upload it on the Beta grid and see if it worked. Soon as I got to the preview I could see it was working just fine - it was WL that was not properly showing the animation in the preview, and still did not when I switched back to WL to upload it. It did work fine in-world, just not in the preview.

* avatars randomly disappear
* prims random disappear
* rotate cam around spheres is wacky <biggest annoyance for me
* alpha wierdness ,they go all red with certain skies?

* dancing fonts,
set ui size to smallest, then see a long sentence
letters have diffrent height on the font, resulting like the letters jump up and down(tho this isnt new, just never "fixed" as usual)

I have these annoying triangles that appear when I pan around and then don't go away until I relog. I understand it's something to do with my ATI card.

It might not be WL...but after installing the newest WL update, I experienced numerous cases of very slow teleports. Using the mainstream viewer during the same time periods (I alternated versions) did not exhibit the problem.

1. Don't have new water effects (not shiny)
2. Only atmospheric shaders seem to work, but not detailed like any of the screenshots.
3. All shiny Textures are transparent.
4. Significantly lower FPS than regular SL viewer.

I'm fairly adept technically when it comes to video/cpu related issues
and have a feeling my video card might not be supported fully yet as it is fairly new,
Video card is Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB, tried 3 different drivers, all same result.

Anyone have any ideas? solutions?

2 of the 3 are old time bugs as you know. But still should these be fixed by this time?

As for drivers it appears to be the same issues. it seems more UI then anything else?

I've noticed when panning close to objects, sometimes the object will render in front of HUD attachments, temporarily obscuring them.

my av disappearing still at times (at the section of a 20x20x5 mega prim floor).
missing walls on my build random can not select then turn and they are there.
slower rez time many textures and prims themselves do not rez.
11/27 no sound at all this included UI sounds atmosphere footsteps audio url and video urls.(didn't check voice it was on though)
walking but legs straight down like I am on wheels no arm movement either (like a statue), turning on and off the zhao can sometimes resolve for a second or two.
crashes just since Friday 11/23 have never had them before including any first look or release client.

can't figure out how to set my day cycle clock... (just me I think)
my custom saved sky should stay on through TPs (I think and through day cycle as well no?)

I thought I read in these release notes we would be able to save and pass our settings to friends??? not yet maybe?

I've noticed that animated textures using llSetTextureAnim() freeze at a certain distance relative to the prim size. This is unfortunate, since I've tried to push animated textures for flashing lights, rather than timer-based scripts to toggle light/dark.

I've also noticed that avatar animations skip frames when viewed from a distance (the framerate of the animation decreases). So, if someone has a fancy dance animation that looks great close-up, it turns into stop-action motion around 10-20m viewing distance.

One more that may or may not be directly WL-related. When alt-clicking to set my camera focus, I'm getting shot off into no-where more often than ever before. I realize this could also be an issue with mega-prims. But I don't recall ever having this problem before (same effect as when you accidentally focus on a tree).

Of course, I've also noticed the vanishing prims (and chunks of ocean) that fail to return until relog.

For me so far no real bugs to speak off just one annoyance, when i first do things it gives me a message in the upper right telling me info about what i am doing, doing to do or did and I'd love to just turn it off but no idea how to.

I have been using WindLight since it first came out pretty much as my default browser. Overall seems to preform quicker and produces more "cinematic" views (this being highly subjective). In the last few days (about 4) I have noticed that after a few minutes on any given sim a red flash, which covers the entire screen, appears when I click on anything but my AV. I have revisited the same places with the current browser and cannot replicate this behaviour.

OS - Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0.6000 x64
CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6850, 3000 MHz
System Memory - 4096 MB
Video Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT
Driver Version - nVIDIA ForceWare 163.75

Addenda: Walls and windows have also started to disappear today.

You mean your FPS are up?................might be related to the os reading all 4 giga of Memory ( in 64 os fasion ). how large of a increase of fps are we talking about? Over all FPS are down with Windlight because of the over loading textures and such. Also what setting are you running at low quality midde quility very high quilty or ultra high quilty?

In all three releases, I've had teleport problems.

They occur if I've been building, camming around a lot. When I try to TP, the viewer freezes.

texture points randomly going to camera
11-29-2007 21:20
ok i looked through and havn't found anyone with this issue.

its hard to explain, but ill try. its like random points of textures are moving from there respective objects and to the "camera" and by that i mean to where the camera would be if i moved to 1st person. its very hard to explain what it looks like. its like a bunch of 2d triangles, goign from a bunch of objects. tot eh camera.
