Belgian police patrols Second Life to prevent rape

I may be new here, but one of my good friends just told me some idot tried to rape her last night.

I'm a little dissapointed in what I am hearing here.

She said, somehow, he was able to push her down to the ground and she couldn't get up. I understand pinning someone while standing, that is one thing, but she said he was able to push her down on the ground and she was unable to get up...like he was using some type of animation script that does not require persmission.

I pesonally have seen scripts for sale in SL that allow one avatar to either freeze or lift and throw another, or otherwise cause harm...so why is this so different?

So, despite all the dis-believers on this thread, imagine that this is true and is happening.

Can my friend report this guy? I don't know about any other case, but I know my friend would not make something like this up.

Hmmm I have a animator that throws someone around but it asks persmission first.

I think an animation that pushes someone on the ground and holds them there is definitely a problem!

Does anyone else know anything about this?

Still this would be an issue for the Lindens not the Beligian police.

Yes, certainly the Lindens, not the Belgian Police.

If he gets away with doing this to her...what prevents him from doing this to others?

Yes if such a thing exists, it should be dealt with. I hope at the very least, she got his name an AR'ed him.

and there were no prim parts there. Also there was no Avatar collision. So it was mainly an assurance thing since it was really kind of impossible.

Sad they bother to assure people there - and here in SL they wont even give you lip service to any rights.

I hear tell such forced scenarios can and do exist in certain RP combat sims - Toxian in particular. Wonder if your friend was in a combat-enabled area? Saw a new club last week where the owner didn't realize the premissions were set up on his new property like a combat sim, so could even be accidental.

From what she said, he invited to TP her to a location so they could hangout. She agreed. Then, when they got there, she received an animation that she could "not decline" and it forced her on the ground and she could not get up. He then jumped on top of her and began humping away...certainly not an accidental act.

Accidental permissions on the land, I suppose that is a possiblility or perhaps she was TPed to a combat sim and didn't know it. We are both new here, so it caught her totally off-guard.

its probably not verifyable - but something like this should be bannable.

Im concerned about the posibility of animations able to force you to move without a decline.

I admit to not having read the entire thread. But...doesn't Belgium have enough real life crime and real life rape before they attend to virtual rape ? Mind you, I think virtual rape is bad too.

I don't know about the legal system in Belgium, but I would guess that if something is reported, they have to investigate. I expect the case will be closed once they have found out how SL works, it's the person reporting it that is wasting police time.

as was already stated, there are several RP sims where if, you are not careful and don't bother to read the rules(if the sim owner bothers to post them) before you enter, you just being there can be interpeted as "consent", especially if you are wearing an observers titler. im sorry your friend was attacked like that. and i cna sympathize as on my first day in SL i was "accosted" by a naked ava who shoved me a bit, asked me for sex, then "shot" at me when i said no. so it does happen more often than many would like to think or believe, however its all in how you view it. i personally, laughed(prolly why he shot at me), and shook my head. with all i have read about SL, the best some can come up with is this.

p.s. if this post dont make sense is cause im lackin the proper caffienated beverages my system needs to get started

Was she wearing a scripted collar? Or some other scripted item he gave her?
