Does work in opera either - but then neither does posting to the blogs.

There's some poll discussion here: https://blogs.secondlife.com/thread/1345?start=15&tstart=0 and I think we largely agreed that it's totally f'd up and no-one knows why.
Whee! I got "this document contains no data" trying to read that discussion.

This grossly dysfunctional Jive system that LL doesn't seem to recognize is defective is the foundation of their new user help system and will be the replacement for this vBulletin forum. This is not encouraging.

100% agreed on all points but for what it's worth I found closing the entire browser and reopening it fixes the connection closed problem.

The most annoying part to my mind is that when we report these problems they come back with the lamest first tier response possible - "Are you sure you're logged in", "Check your internet connection", "Is your computer turned on?"

I have several browsers on the various computers I use, but honestly I don't see the point of OUR checking that it works in one browser or another. If a website didn't work in some off-the-wall or out-of-date browser then no one would care.

BUT

if it doesn't work in Firefox, then for me it doesn't work. Okay, it's a beta test. As far the poll goes, my feedback as a beta tester is: "It doesn't work in Firefox." If LL or Jive or whoever wants to know about other browsers, they can try them themselves.

IF the website looked promising, IF there seemed some reason to be more helpful, I would. But it doesn't. This isn't just one little detail in an otherwise good product. The website is generally bad, and the poll is just another thing that's wrong with it.

It doesn't work in Opera 10 (can't post, can't see poll options)
It hardly works in IE8 (slow response to typing, you need to enter some text before quoting, editing quotes is almost impossible)
There are reports of problems in Firefox and Safari.

That seems pretty broken to me.

i find it really difficult to even get into that domain full stop.
in addition, blog comments dont paginate and thats a real problem when reading 200 replies on a single page. if 'answers' duplicates this trait, it really sucks.

Well, it didn't take too long to bring the entire blog system to its knees. Attempting to read blog entries at 2:30am today brings up a blank page that simply says, "System Error. We're sorry but a serious error has occurred in the system"

Assuming the system recovers and we can get in again, check your preference settings within the blog. Set your thread view to "Flat", and the blog and answers forum will paginate just fine.

I have not found this to be the case for me.

When you say it fixes the problem, do you mean it's permanently fixed and never reappears again?

==============

The problems are being described by some as being isolated to Firefox. That is not true. Flock, Opera, and Internet Explorer have problems with blogs.secondlife.com.

Just temporarily until next time it comes up. To be honest, I haven't seen it in a while now.

Trying to respond to the discussion thread in Second Life Answers requesting feedback on Second Life Answers has crashed my browser several times tonight, even with clearing all cookies for secondlife.com and jive.

The same failures are occuring at the new "my" urls as well. The SL website is becoming less and less usable by me. I'm quite disappointed.

I keep forgetting that the site exists. Probably because it punishes me every goddamn time I try to use it. I just spent ten minutes composing a nice clean, coherent, succinct answer, for which it rewards me with the good ol' perpetual "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" error.

I'll try repressing all memory of its existence again.

It still stuck. Would have thought they would of at least try to make some revision to it by now.
