It is no secret that you are a land dealer so of course you don't want me telling people that they are paying too much for land. I'm just letting them know that next time they purchase land they can question prices and they can request lower prices and they can hold off until they find someone willing to charge them for what it is worth.

Please don't turn this into me being the bad guy here. You are the one defending YOUR outlandish land prices. Make me look like the bad girl for educating people on their options and that they don't HAVE to pay market prices, play sympathetic to the OP hoping to make land dealers look like the good guys.

It's too expensive for a lot of people but they don't think they have any choices. Land prices would return to a more reasonable level if the BUYERS would refuse to pay the prices asked and request what is more reasonable.

Let me ask you the same though...what is YOUR problem? Why do you attack me every time I inform people that land prices are outlandish and that they should request lower prices next time?? Looks like fear to me!

I just think it is such a shame that someone has to be willing to lay down a hundred dollars or more just to get a decent chunk of land. Yes, I miss the days when there were 300,000 residents...I miss them dearly. I miss when people in this virtual world used to do things to help others, used to share scripts freely, used to be able to fly up to someone and start a conversation without being ejected and banned. Bigger is not always better and in this case it most certainly is not. SL has turned into a bunch of people just trying to make a buck...it used to be such a nice world where people could work together toward something and not worry about who might cheat them out of the profit.

So the land barons won't let the prices go lower because it is all about how much money you can make. Just curious, how much of the land sold daily goes to end-users? I just don't get the mentality that it is ok to keep raising prices purely because you want to make more money? I mean at least in the real world, most of the time, prices go up because the cost to make the products goes up or because taxes are raised. There is no excuse for the huge hike in price that took place last year. That happened purely because you all COULD raise prices that high...again I say, that doesn't make it the right thing to do.

I really really wish there was a way to separate the capitalists from those just wanting to relax and enjoy a second life...

So Rockwell, relax and just ignore me. You can sugar coat your business all you want I will still say that prices are too high. Freedom of speach man! When I talk about land prices I don't single anyone out, I don't say that YOU Rockwell charge too much for land, I keep it general. I am a bit offended by your personal attack.
absolutely fair assesment of sl as i see it! every rule, restriction and sanctimonious ballroom dancing stick in the mud and their rent-a-pig flunkies and all their day to day activities seemed geared towards protecting some market or asset...i'm all for capitalism, but i would never pay a penny to an sl land baron whose just gonna pinch prims, blanket me in crappy covenants and try to run my sl from afar...I'm buyin my land from the Lindens and doin whatever i want with it...they are way more inclied to view sl (as i quote Phil Linden ) "as an open space" and let me shape my sl accordin to my imagination!

Renting land gives you the option of flexibility, you don't need a premium account, you don't have to commit as many Lindens and if you decide you want to stay long term you can look into your buying land then.

If the only option was to buy land then there would be a lot less businesses in SL and a lot less residents.

I don't see this protection of market assets, there's no monopoly on land. The market dictates how much land is sold for. The Lindens have raised their prices on private islands, so why do you exempt them from your tirade?

PS if anyone wants to rent or buy land IM me ;)

There seems to be more you can't let your renters do unless you deed. If I'm right (correct me if I'm wrong!), I can't let them manage the ban and access list of their rented homes, which I want them to be able to do as I want them to be able to choose which friends they want to allow on the land and vice versa so they won't have to ask me for permission.

Correct, land has to be deeded for those permissions to work.

i see your points and i.m renting now, and have been a few places for a while. i like the idea of livin SOMEWHERE...so i can have a place to rez and place my things...but i'm SO sick if renting and living by other peoples rules...price is not really the object which is why i'm rushing to to Linden's land auction...it's other people telling me what i can and cannot do...as long as i pay the lindens their fees and don't crash a whole sim, they are generally more hands-off than you would expect them to be. we all get screwed with prims by land anyway...that a land owner would sell you some land and skimp on the prims and slide a covanet to ya (MORE RULES) is just too much for what i would have to pay to build what i want built...better to be bilked by the lindens than to have to answer to someone IN ADDITiON to LL...and to all the people wo express shock at my clarity at times :) i purvey smut but even a smut-peddler's got to be able to read and write a little bit! those snappy captions don't just hop on the page...i make em hop...like everything else
