Ciran, you haven't been here long enough to know that this kind of thing happens with regularity, especially on weekends, updates just make it worse. And they roll out updates all the time. Including on fridays and then leave for the weekend.

This isn't WoW. Not even close, lol.

Hehe Io I respect your voice of experience. I assumed that as most of the updates have happened mid-week since I've been here that that was the norm, releasing an update on a Friday is a bit rude.

SL has never ran so bad before in all my time of SL ugh.
Friends list is broken again
Logging out of the system is taking up to 5 minutes for some residents
Prims are shifting all over the place
Linked objects are moving when touched
Transactions up to a 60 second delay
The account and billing parts of the website won't load most of the time
Lindex is unstable
After teleporting, another teleport starts but takes you no where, and if you cancel it you can no longer move until you relog
Clothing can not be made via the appearance menu
Objects are taking up to 60 seconds to rez and/or delete
Group IM's STILL broke

Why is there nothing mentioned in the blog?
Feel free to add to this list, I know there is more but damn, I can only think of so much at one time lol

I have not been able to log out naturally for several updates now. Probably several months.

I CAN log out naturally if I have only been on SL a few minutes.

Otherwise, I have to control-alt-delete myself out. I don't bother sending in crash reports, needless to say. (Stopped doing that ages ago.)

heh, I'm just in a bad mood because I lost a couple of hours of work, the asset server just deleted it, and I'm afraid to do anything right now because I don't want to log out and have it disappear again. And I have a lot of work to do. :\

It used to be worse, they used to update every single Wednesday. Which made SL pretty much unusable for two days out of every week. I knew this was a big one and was surprised there weren't more problems at first, but they seemed to be on delay this time.

I've been in game over two years and i've seen this many times before. It's ALWAYS like this for a day or so after a new download. a Lot of Little bugs, and annoyances while they tune things up.
Why don't the troubles appear while on the test grid?
Well, maybe because the test grid is about a fifth the size of the main, and doesn't have near the same Traffic. Bigger=more complications.
As usual, Give it a few days and everything will be running More or less normally again.

Yet another update manages to introduce more bugs than it fixes... but never mind that, no need to worry folks, because we have sculpties *sigh*

Here is my list so far...

1/ 0 people showing online at login screen
2/ Friends online list is broken - again
3/ Group IM's are slow and coming up with error messages
4/ Group Notices are not working at all
5/ Unable to create new clothing in Edit Appearance
6/ Group Info not showing member lists
7/ 4 major crashes in the last two hours - these crashes reboot my PC from a hard reset (this happened after the last update but had stabilised just prior to this one) and this severely affects my business as I loose the media i am streaming
8/ Trying to relog back in can take upwards of 20 minutes - it just hangs

Now lets see... I run a club and can't rely on streaming my audio because SL crashes my PC to a full reboot, I can't send group notices or IM's, I have a clothing business but cannot create new clothes... what the hell is the point of being here?

To cap it all off I heard that the Lindens want to go ahead with decentralising the grid - just what we need, more chaos...

In the UK there would be a law protecting the consumer from stuff like this... the Sale and Supply of Goods Act - if its not fit for purpose, for the purpose for which it was sold, then you are entitled to your money back... when can I expect my refund Lindens?
(looks up and waits for flying pigs)

I'm am starting to wonder if the only difference between SecondLife and the Titanic is the fact that the Titanic had a band!

Now I know all the other stuff can, and probably has been (am just about to check), reported on JIRA... however I cannot report the crashes because they are completely random and not reproducable. It is only SL that crashes my PC out like this - have brand new gfx card, all the latest drivers etc etc... its just SL...

I hope the Lindens read this and realise they have some serious issues to addres regarding the stability and usability of the product that they sell to me - one that takes a lot of my hard earned cash and valuable time. I will not be holding my breath though and if things continue in this way then I shall be leaving SL for good.

til version 1.17 comes out next weds(with smellovision, and a fancy rock generator for the terrain!!) and breaks it all again. When I played AO, SWG and CoH I was always EXCITED about new updates, with content.....I never thought I would play a game where I dread updates. Well I guess since NGE I do not like updates anymore, and SL reenforces that opinion.

Oh come on COH was a nightmare with big updates :P I was there too, I'm awfully tempted to go back too but I don't think I'll have the time.

I never did either. In TSO we would have KILLED for updates.

But - around about the LL they went to one update a week, I said, hey, this isn't going to work. We are all getting combat fatigue, and it's only going to get worse. People said, "oh coco you are so anti-progress, you just don't understand the cutting edge blah blah blah."

Then they went to once every two weeks, which is better. Still, it would be nice to have more stability, less smellovision.

Man, I wondered where this thread went! It had been all day without someone posting something about what is wrong with SL and/or LL.

I was worried the forum was broken!!

I didn't see it listed here, but my little AV seems to go AFK all on her own, as tho she's gotten bored or just nodded off randomly. My partner seems to have the same issue. It was happening before the update and I'd had my fingers crossed it would magically be fixed, but I suppose all my bug reports were overlooked in the rush for sculpties (yeah, something else to break!)

It's a sin we've grown used to not being able to enjoy SL after an update of any kind, isn't it?

But then, we're all just Beta testers, paying LL for the priviledge of being part of thier experiment.

The problem with that way of thinking is that "normally" means "like crap".

I don't know, it is kind of fun. What thing will be broken this time? It is like a game. You try and find the newest old bug you can. If nothing else, it keep the population down.

Yes, I do have the AFK bug too. And I guess the only thing we can do is report it in the JIRA.

If all you can see is the Flaws, then Yes, you are probably right. I, on the other hand have been, as i said, in world for over two years (Pushing three now) and i have found these Minor hiccups, have almost No impact on my day to day Play. On the other hand, the features that come out of them After a day or two of debugging, have made my SL very rich indeed. Just Imagine, If you have the capacity to speculate beyond the next day or two, What the impact will be on building, the addition of Sculptable prims will be. New types of builds exploded after the addition of new types of prims, Clothing design, and other forms of builds too a major Boost because of Flex prims, NOW we will be able to sculpt prims based upon a new method of texturing.

But of course all that pales into insignifigance in face of the fact "Friends on line" is Off line for a day or two, a disaster truely of biblical proportion.

Nope, it's a bug with the new Firefox update. It's the same for me on every site I use that uses BB :( It's strange though because I'm running the same Firefox version on my other partition and it works fine on that one *shrugs*

There's an announcement about the BB code at the top of each forum's thread list.

Yep, happens to me.

My av's doing that, going AFK for no apparent reason but snapping back to life with a keypress. No problem unless you are hoping for some degree of gracefulness or elegance or just looking alert in the eyes of those who see you instead of looking inert and slumped over.

Despite SL's chronic deficiencies, things could be worse; we could all look like this:

LL always do this - bring out new toys like sculptured prims, which very few can make and to hell with the bugs.
