From: Chimn Congrejo Why did I bounce back into the sim? Because there was no where for my character to go after they kicked me, so I instantly just fell back into their land.. and stood afk talking to the admin/looking for another place to go. Then they banned me and I kind of just hovered there while they spammed shit on me. lol My apologies ... I thought you were saying you were *deliberately* making a nuisance of yourself ... sorry Chimn.

I wouldn't mind a fantasy-like place were I could run around naked, or be stripped, and get thrown on poseballs all the time...
But then you throw in all that medieval/primeval male power trip stuff, the hordes of frankenbarbies, the often bad fashion or poorly made silks, the combat, and the RLV junk...
And yeah... no interest left.

I can hardly claim any degree of expertise in matters Gorean, but my impression from talking to Gorean friends is that RLV isn't a particularly big deal there. Certainly not many kajirae I know used it before OpenCollar came out and not that many even now, or so I am told.

You can't take one single part of my list in isolation like that and consider it a way to counter my disinterest. I'm looking at a gestalt here - or I would have simply stated one reason.

There is a Gor "slump." I have discussed it with other Goreans. In my opinion it is due to an increased dis-adherence to the books. Now we have Vikings, woman warriors, sims rising up and then falling a month or two later. There were no Vikings in the books and people will throw this one quote at you from the book about woman warriors but they were RARE if at all. We also have women dressing much like slaves (including women warriors) who call themselves Free which is not in the books unless you're a panther living in deeply forested areas. But in SL Gor these same panthers go to cities & war regularly which was not the norm as it seems to be in SL Gor. Then we have people jumping from sim to sim in place of settling down in one place & creating a strong RP setting that can be depended on. The main storyline of the book is of male dominance...that's the main RP in a nutshell. But with more woman there then men this tends to get muddled. Basically we have a lot of people coming in there doing whatever kind of RP they're interested in which breaks down the integrity of the RP, which creates boredom, therefore a slump.

No. The Gor you knew when you started SL is not the Gor that started in SL in 2004. Gor evolved from being about lifestylers ~only~ (we had no 'by the book' places or sims), to being predominately "by the book" sims, and now a move towards Gor evolved, back to lifestylers, and other flavors of Gor. As it should be. John Norman never wanted his world to stagnate. And this does not create slumps, it creates variety which only leads to curiosity and new interest. The slump is as mentioned before is not so much a slump as it is 'more places than people'.

I sure hope people are losing interest in Gor. If I turned in any kind of assignment written in John Norman's style, my Comp teacher would give me an zero and I'd thank her for being generous. I mean, apologies to big fans of his, but I'm just sayin'.

I do know for good RP you have to stick to a basic storyline & theme...which is faltering in SL Gor as it is now. LOL if you can't see a slump then I don't know where you're hanging out in Gor. The Gorean Slaves group was just discussing it a few weeks ago, more places than people is NOT the only issue.
