I've got to admit that the silks are pretty cool, although from my memories of the books, most slave girls wore basic tunics, which just wouldn't do for all our lovely SL girls.

Lulz... the books are so poorly written that I cringe every time I read one. They're full of incomplete and run-on sentences, and the plots aren't exactly mind-bending. For all that, they're somehow interesting. My favorite invention was the Priest-King scenario - if I could choose to be any Gorean character in SL, I'd be a Priest-King. How cool would it be to run around with god-powers in a Gorean sim?

Is Gor kinda "dead"? No, but I'm working on it. My army of furries slowly chip away at their numbers every day, and we are finally seeing progress. Its been a long and hard battle, but the tide is turning in our favor and soon we will be victorious! When we have finished with the gors, we will move against the vamps. When they are gone SL can finally become Fluffyville! Muahahahahahaha! _____________________

They came to SL with Gor. Not with belly dancing anim sets. That doesn't exactly make them uniquely Gorean, and I don't see any reason why a Gorean would have cause to be offended by anyone else wearing silks outside Gorean RP regions. _____________________

Actually, I bought a "Moroccan" outfit -- not really very revealing, actually -- that was clearly being marketed both as an "ethnic" costume, and as Gorean silks. _____________________

I had never heard of Gor, Gorean, Kaijra, Free Woman or Panther before I came SL. And I'm a pretty avid reader......guess no interest in that though. But, I did find my way to a couple Gor sims back then and remembered the silks..........I liked them. So I bought a couple sets and could not wear them many places........but still had a fascination with them. Then I wanted to learn to make prim clothing after flexible prims became part of SL..........silks were so much easier to make than a prim skirt.
That's the total of my interest in Gor today........it's the silks, nothing but the silks. ![]() |

I also have to chime in on the question, what happened to the fun? Case in point, shared with me by somebody else who actually had this happen in a Gorean sim (I won't name him since I haven't asked for his OK to do so, but should that become necessary I'll certainly ask). He was standing on a bridge in a Gorean sim with somebody else, and they were having a contest. The idea was to see how far out into the river they could spit. Somebody else came along and chastised them quite severely for their behavior, stating that it was totally opposed to what Gor was all about, bad for the environment, and yadda-yadda-yadda. At this point he asked them about the body down there in the river. Mind you they didn't actually have a prim body down there or anything, but he was roleplaying. This got the individual who confronted them very bent out of shape that he would even dare suggest there may be such foulness as a body in their river, that is not the way of Gor! Seems to me that the situation was entirely appropriate within the particular society that is Gor, as I have actually read all the books. I found it totally in character. So why the extreme insistence that their conduct was in any way wrong, when it fits extremely well within the particular word that Mr. Norman invented? There should be plenty of room in Gorean roleplay for encounters like that to actually happen, and I'd think they would actually improve the experience of being in one of those sims, wouldn't they? The fun is still there as it always was. You met someone who was a bit of a nutter. It's not necessarily representative. I think the best way to respond would be to remain totally and absolutely in character. Any OOC chat from the guy would be commented on as the ravings of a lunatic. IMs ignored. Kill him! We don't want lunatics roaming free in Gor!! I had some fun once when a stranger addressed me by name. I demanded to know why they called me that. They said that they read my name tag. I said that I had no idea what they were talking about. I asked them to explain..... I got really angry, suspecting some mischief afoot. "Profile?? WTF is a Profile???" One of the funny memories I have from my tribe was someone who got hit on the head by an escaping prisoner. She lost her memory and developed a fixation that another girl was her mother. She kept it up for about two weeks. _____________________

Patasha as for your comment about silks if they bothered to read the books the girls did not wear silks all the time. Think of it who could work at their tasks all dressed up to the 9s?
The 3rd person speech also another chat gor craze is not so in the books it is hardly used. GOr was dying before the new land restriction rules came into play and many of the gor sims if you visit are empty _____________________

I don't know if i would say Gor was "already dying" in so much as "over extended", "if you build it they will come" syndrome.

I think it's time we started something new. Time for us to get our own back by establishing a Got (Girls on top) rping sim.
Lessee, we'll need to classify the males (hereby only to be referred to as Sads (Simple-minded and dull) by their usefulness. Gimp: fit for household cleaning tasks and simple cooking only. Geezer: carries out above but is also able to take on more complex tasks such as running a bath to the right temperature, sorting the nutty chocolates from the soft ones and licking shoes until they gleam. Bloke: a privileged and much sought-after role as it includes personal tasks including brushing hair, exfoliating and the after-bath oiling of skin. Colin: the creme de la creme. These are reserved for 'special' duties and are avaliable as and when required by any female member within the community. As for clothing, Gimps will wear yellowing y-fronts at all times. Geezers will wear bright red boxer shorts, Blokes those tight black Speedo thingies and Colins... oh it has to be a wet look thong. Thes must be removed when ordered by any female. Hmmm that's a start. Excuse me I have to go for a lie down now. |

You know Milla that is a good point. It never occurred to me about the belly dancers. Yeah!!!! Because of the few I have they are very HAWT!!! Let alone they had all those malls open to the public for a reason.. ![]() the first time a saw someone in silks Persian harem came to mind.. Someone showed me what a girl from gore would wear and it looked more like a mini toga than those silks hehehe.. I just remember every dancer for a time was wearing those things..Myself i never wore them..i remember my first clothes i had bought for the Greek themed club i worked for..more on the lines of a mini toga LOL ![]() _____________________

Gor is definitely not dying but yes, it is overextended as Briana said. Some sims are relatively empty but others are quite populated even 24/7 if you know where to look. Most Goreans prefer to fly under the radar to non-Goreans - it's just easier that way. Usually if you even have Gor or slave in your profile it tends to provoke some people and invite arguments into your IMs when outside of Gor.
Most girls don't wear silks btw. Most wear tunics or camisks unless dancing. There are also many subcultures within Gor and the girls in other regions wear other types of clothing. Gor is a very indepth world and as was said before there are the "by the book" players, the lifestylers, the Gor Evolved, and more. Right now the BTB roleplayers are predominant. Most Goreans are well read and well educated from my experience. The one point that I would disagree with Briana on is that I feel that more Masters are older rather than younger. I've met more in their 30s, 40s & 50s than I have in their 20s by far. I know several in their 60s too. And they come from all over the world tho the Netherlands seems to have a high population in Gor of Masters, Free Women and slaves. So much so that Amsterdam is gaining the nickname of Masterdam. *laughs* Whether you like Gor or not, I don't see it as harming those outside of it at all. It's not like Bloodlines that invade anyone else's space outside. I've never seen Goreans out recruiting for more in the regular SL areas. And of course anyone is free to leave anytime they want. So if you don't like the Goreans then just turn the other way and go about your business. There's plenty of other things to do and see in SL. The Goreans are quite happy without you too and don't want or need the harassment. ![]() |

As it turns out, there is at least one (primarily?) gay Gorean city, Skjern. I'd made the mistake of Googling "gay Gor" instead of "gay Gorean" and hadn't come up with much. The GLBT-friendly Skjern has been gone awhile now. You want to check out places like White Water, Tabor and Port of Brundisium. |

The other day I was searching for "FINE ART" places and the first option was a Gorean sim with some guys fine art gallery in it somewhere. I had no clue what it was.. First thing I did when I got there was walk up to the first three people I saw, two guys and what seemed like a sex slave. All I said was "Greetings!"
I got a PM from one of the guys almost instantly. It was something like "...................................................ur ruining rp..........................". He also said something about a meter.. so I jokingly replied "You're ruining my RP! lol Whats a meter?" right after.. to which he called me a cheeky bastard or something like that. To be honest, to me, anyone saying "Cheeky Bastard" never comes out serious.. ![]() He basically summoned an admin in one line, and that was "Alright, kick this smartass!" Got me kicked in a matter of 2 seconds, but it was on a private island so I kind of just bounced back into the sim and stood afk in one spot for about 2 minutes before they banned me. Then I sat on the edge of the sim just floating back and forth while they spammed super marios and cans of spam on me until my friend teleported me out. lol The whole time I was talking to some guy in PM asking him what a meter was while he called me childish and shit. ![]() I'm guessing the art gallery was just a bunch of photos of girls in bondage. lol I still don't know what anything Gorean is. lol.. but I'm thinking it might be a little too uptight for me. Haha. |

Just curious... cause i used to be a gorean about a year ago on my other av, but today if i meet people who are into Gor, keep it pretty much quiet or should i say "secretive"? Seems like they all are losing interest in gorean RP. Is Gor kinda "dead"? Even though the Gor hub is pretty busy... seems to me like all my old friends have lost interest in Gor. And they dont talk much about Gor either. My partner as well, she used to be a gorean slave, she had gorean furniture and to this day she still meets gorean players... but seems to have lost interest in RP too. Any ideas? Could it be possible that they really lost interest in Gor? Should we look for a different RP game? My partner and I don't go to Gor RP sims (the rules are silly and constraining) or do public RP. But we do dress it quite a bit and like it..and she (and I) love Panther clothes..if you call them that since they don't cover much ![]() That said we keep all of our fantasies private..no matter what they are...and have never used RP sims. Hope that helped you figure out what you were trying to figure out. |

I think I flew away from the market just to go over to the people. There is usually a warning about not entering a roleplay zone without wearing a visitor title and so on. And different sims have different rules, no matter where you go in Second Life. Did you take and read a copy of their rules? /me wags finger like Miss Crabtree (I was gonna say they should've been a BIT more patient with a newbie, but I see you are from 2007!) _____________________

Why? Just wondering ... Why did I bounce back into the sim? Because there was no where for my character to go after they kicked me, so I instantly just fell back into their land.. and stood afk talking to the admin/looking for another place to go. Then they banned me and I kind of just hovered there while they spammed shit on me. lol |

Did you take and read a copy of their rules? /me wags finger like Miss Crabtree But I imagine the scribes had a lot of fun writing them, which is something. Come to think of it, I've been to sims where the role-play was like that, too: a lot of effort invested in composition with not much evidence of anybody listening. |
