I have 3 dancing huds from Abranimations... Salsa, Sexy and... another one (shot me, cannot remember the name :) ). Anyway, they are really great.

Let's see if I can try and describe most clubs in SL!

Strippers to attract perverts who will drop money into their wallets.
Camping chairs/pads so that it SEEMS like the place is populated.

Basically, if there's a place without those two.. I'm amazed. I haven't found one thats actually populated yet though.

a variation from the 'Can we not be included ...' - Thread:

Until people get away from the mindset of "how much money can I make here" and move towards "what can I do to enrich other people's experiences in SL", there won't be ...

-> a real good club in sl

Well, i used to go to The Boathouse all the time. No strippers, no camping chairs, no appreciable lag, great live feed dj's, a good range of music, a few good dance balls and a good dance machine. Suntan who runs the place is a great guy, and the atmosphere is really friendly. I don't go much now cos I'm getting my mini mall up and running, but I'll be there this weekend for sure.

Fangs eh? I bet they bite there...... not that this has to be a bad thing...

Anyway, there are enough clubs or dance places without stripers.

To run a club in SL cannot be an easy task... what possible revenue can a club generate? Unless it is subsidised by the owner, it's manily a payout from the owner for DJ's, music, scripts, dance balls, rent on the land, build the club, buy the land, pay hosts, dancers, prize money (if any) etc... Those clubs that do survive have sound business models attached to Malls (The Edge, Bad Girls, B&R ect...) they generate the traffic figures to stay at the top of popular places which intice shoppers etc.

I frequented a great club some 10 months ago. The owner was building his SIM starting with a club, and developing a series of Malls, on the basis that the traffic figures reported by the clubs activities, would attract designers to his Malls. He invested 1 million Lindens into the deal, attracted a lot of people to his club, started to fill up the mall with designers, but failed once the money ran out and 99% of the club users dissapeared, his traffic dropped and his sim went down the ratings and the designers left in droves. The majority of clubs fail for the same reasons, unless they are financed off the back of a successful Mall in the first place.

Chimn,
Try Blackheart's Café... If you're lucky. The place is always so full of people that you actually often can't get in (region full)!!! None of the above you just mentioned. Just folks dancing to 80s music. Great fun DJ too... The only bad side of that place is that guests so overdo it with the emo-lines that it becomes at times almost impossible to follow the public chat.

And no, I don't own the place, don't work there either... LOL

Well, since one mentioned the music... I work for a club which has been going since December 2006, where I DJ on Mondays (21.00 CET) and sometimes other days, when the assigned DJ can't come.

I am specialized in deep house/lounge/chillout (each of the club DJs has a specialization) but I play a wide range of music. I believe I am the most "exotic" DJ of our club.

One evening we had a party where I played Brazilian music and I mean bossa nova, samba, maracatu, marcinha, brega, and so on.

Another evening I played music from all over the world (well, several different countries) including things you don't usually find around in SL, like manele, bhangra, rai, turkish music, music from Africa (Nigeria, Senegal etc.).

I don't get to play that anymore, since it "wasn't selling" and the club owners asked me to go for more mainstream things. What a pity. I even had to stop with deep house... Shame.

Well, if you want a change in SL music you may IM my employers and support my cause :)

Someone already mentioned it ,

But the real problem is theres too many Club Owners - and not enough Club Boppers.

-------------------------
The message - Clubs are just a money pit needs to get out there better, so that not every new to SL person with a lil bit of money decides they will open up a club to make money.

It will help them out too, since they wont loose all that money.

When my friend introduced me to SL i was suprised by the lack of good clubs. Especially as it seems to be such an important part of Sl, let alone the way the infosphere is generally going. Anyway, we decided to do something about it :)

It's a shameless plug but, we are just about to open our club (well a whole sim) with live streaming (professional)DJ's playing for the sake of playing, there will be no mall, casino or strippers, just good tunes and a good time. at least three different clubs or stages, sound sculpture park and 2 galleries. We will be bringing music tech and media students in and hopefully will not only be an introduction to SL but also just a good place to visit and spend some time. Its educational land and funded from exterior sources, fortunatly, as i don't think there would be any way of producing something like this if we had to rely on in world commerce. I'll let you know when we open ;)

now i just have to sort out those dance balls...

This is curious, last time i check Linden labs had capped mainland sims to 40.

Doesn't make much sense to have more peoples anyway, the sim software can't even handle 40 in a reliable way.

it's pointless to make a club on mainland..even when they are empty they lag..
the club me and Finora work for if there are 40 people there it's a slow day..
our sim runs just fine at double that when we get into the 90's it gets real bad but 80's it may be alittle laggy but nothing like a main land club sitting next to 30 chopped up 512 lots ..
anyone thinking of making a club i would advise them to stay away from mainland..been there done that and never will again..i don't even go to mainland if i can help it.

Last night, once again I went to a club which was having an event they had been sending invitations to others about. It was an R&B event which meant mostly slow dancing songs but when I get there with a partner there were no dancings balls left. Yes, they had one or two on the other side of the club but not where the 13 or 15 people that were there were dancing and those weren't slow dances balls anyway. Plus they had it so you couldn't pull out your own dance balls. They didn't have that many people there to begin with and no dance balls?

This is something that happens all the time in clubs. Either this or the balls they have don't work or they're halfway down the floor. They don't provide dance balls yet, they don't let you pull yours out either. Then they complain why their clubs are empty all the time.

I had that clubs group tag for about two weeks but had never visited it 'til last night. I took off the groups tag as I won't ever go back there again. I also told the dj that place should of been better prepared and of course I recieved no answer as I expected.

Clubs name is BZ Productions or something like it. Not only that but someone there sent me another club invitation but I took that off too. I don't want to be associated with anyone or any of those places from there.

This is why you see so many failed clubs, why when you go to a new one there's barely anyone there. They are run by people who have no business running the place as they don't know how to. Then they wonder where everyone went or why no one goes there.

If you're going to take the task of running a club, an event, make sure you get people who actually know what to do. Playing songs or welcoming people into a club isn't the only thing you need to do to to run a successful club or event.

did you ask anyone if there was a dance ball or were you just looking at the floor for poseballs??
i don't know too many clubs that don't have a dance ball or a sign or something that everyone can click to dance from.. you shouldn't really mention names of buisnesses anyways..
mainly because you did have dances you could have went to but they were just not the ones you wanted..i would look for the big dance ball or ask them before coming in here..chances are i can go to this club you named and find the ball because i know what i am looking for when i want to dance..if i used those dance balls..i use my hud mostly..
dj's are not the people you go to for answers to a club question..most djs are working for 5 different clubs ..you go to a dj for requests of songs..thier im's are packed and most won't have the answer for a club that is on thier list of other clubs you work for..
find a dancer or a manager or the owner..they will most times tell you to look up at the shiny ball on the ceiling..that or just ask in general chat .where is the dance ball..someone will tell you..
from your post it doesn't seem like you club alot..thats just my opinion though..
if the club didn't have a big dance ball then they have no idea what they are doing..that or they are trying to keep a certain amount of traffic in there ..could be alot of reasons to not have the big ball..most likely though you just didn't see it..

I'd say if SL had many different clubs each with a different theme and wonderful design we'd still have clubs going out of business. I'd like to see a live rock band club with a whole band up on stage.

This gives me an idea....

"CLUB IN A BOX: Start Your Own Club Business Now!!!"

It'll have all types of annoying ass particles and objects moving around to look like lights, 3 poseballs for dancing and a stripper pole just in case. It'll come with a notecard with the urls to all types of streams that play either that "what is love? baby don't hurt me" song or top 40 Rap and RnB from last summer.

BRILLIANT!!

Ceka,

In response to your questions I did ask if there were more dance balls and like I already stated in my op I was told there were one or two but at the other side of the club, not where everyone was dancing. Besides, it didn't mattered as they weren't slow dancing balls anyway.

I did mention the club's name and I'd do it again. If they choose to open a place of business then they're open to both being praised and criticized. Why hide it?

And as I also stated in the op, it was an r&b event with consisted of slow romantic songs and we wasn't going to use a public dance ball which all it does is make you dance fast and by yourself. There should of been enough slow dance balls for an event that requires them as this one did.

As far as they maybe not wanting too many people there for whatever their reasons, then why issue so many invitations. Plus, there weren't that many people there. Like I mentioned before, there were 13 people there. Right before I tped there I checked the map of the place and saw that was the amount of people there. It was a pretty small crowd for such a heralded event.

The person who issued the invitations I believe she was both dj and hostess and is someone I know. I wasn't about to look for management since my partner and I left, we had wasted enough time there and I didn't want to waste anymore. Besides, it's not like I'll be returning there again.

There are only two clubs I really go to, and one isn't really a club per se--it's a space where a DJ spins. (Quantum Acres . . . check 'em out sometime.) They have a dance ball there, but I'm not fond of it because it's boring to dance in sync with every other person in the room.

I have a folder of free dances I picked up somewhere, and I made two gestures to start and stop my personal favorite so I don't have to keep digging it out of my inventory.

Everything I've heard indicates that clubs are massive "money pits" and you shouldn't open one and expect to turn a profit.

always have wondered how they make their money. I'm guessing they take a cut of escort "income" some way or other. Or what am I missing?

Well alot of it depends on if they are using dance balls or a big dance ball in the middle of the floor you just click on. We (VooDoo DESIGNS, Acrea (174, 91, 22) create prefab nightclubs and most come with a dance ball that goes over the dance floor which in return supports more dancers. Just depends on the way people want to run their clubs I guess.
