Last night, once again I went to a club which was having an event they had been sending invitations to others about. It was an R&B event which meant mostly slow dancing songs but when I get there with a partner there were no dancings balls left. Yes, they had one or two on the other side of the club but not where the 13 or 15 people that were there were dancing and those weren't slow dances balls anyway. Plus they had it so you couldn't pull out your own dance balls. They didn't have that many people there to begin with and no dance balls?

This is something that happens all the time in clubs. Either this or the balls they have don't work or they're halfway down the floor. They don't provide dance balls yet, they don't let you pull yours out either. Then they complain why their clubs are empty all the time.

I had that clubs group tag for about two weeks but had never visited it 'til last night. I took off the groups tag as I won't ever go back there again. I also told the dj that place should of been better prepared and of course I recieved no answer as I expected.

Clubs name is BZ Productions or something like it. Not only that but someone there sent me another club invitation but I took that off too. I don't want to be associated with anyone or any of those places from there.

This is why you see so many failed clubs, why when you go to a new one there's barely anyone there. They are run by people who have no business running the place as they don't know how to. Then they wonder where everyone went or why no one goes there.

If you're going to take the task of running a club, an event, make sure you get people who actually know what to do. Playing songs or welcoming people into a club isn't the only thing you need to do to to run a successful club or event.

Yeah, I think about 2/3 of all clubs in SL were made because the owner figured it would make them money without understanding the logistics and mechanics involved in a successful club...plus the fact that most of them play the same crap and have no style.

If someone with a good business sense and creativity realized the above then they will most likely end up being successful.

This is why I bring my own dance anims on the rare occasions that I go to clubs anymore-- that way I don't have to worry about dance balls or dance machines. I had a few good all-purpose freebie dances when I was a new resident, and bought others whenever I could.

Agreed, part of the problem is that a lot of clubs look alike and play the same music; plus, there are so *many* clubs springing up all over the grid, it's getting harder to make them memorable.

The clubs that have stood out for me have generally been ones that had some other purpose besides dancing, like Shelter, or that had a really unusual or outstanding design, like Gravity. I miss that place. :) And yeah, a greater variety of music would be really welcome.

I use my own dance animations in clubs. If i want a partner but no balls are available, I'll use my Couples Animator HUD. It offers salsa and slow dance (in addition to pouncing on the intended AV (or vice-versa) LOL

you can also get a dance ball at abramations that's wearable and transparent, so wear it on your head or any other convenient body part, and you can have others use it as well

You don't need dance balls to dance, just open the animations directly from your inventory and click Play Inworld.

The club scene in SL is remarkabley like RL...A few really original fun places, some everyday formula spots that are still worth visiting, then the majority of the rest, either lame knockoffs of the 1st 2 types, or just plain bad clubs run by people who don't know a good club from club soda.

...and we see why I don't go to clubs IRL or ISL for the most part. Especially now that I'm not single!

Although I always had the opinion that any girl that would let me pick her up at a club isn't the kind of girl I'd want to be with anyway...

Miko Masukami: "Let us know when you open your perfect Club."

I'm not making one but if I did it sure wouldn't be run as sloppy and poorly as many as the ones here now. I know better.

Running a club is a big responsibility and takes time but you also need good common sense and need to see and do the little things like making sure there are enough dance balls for the coming public. This part shouldn't be all that hard to do but if you can't do this well then I doubt you're doing other things needed to make it run right.

If you're going to venture unto this field as well as any other field then you better damn well be prepared or you'll failed miserably as most clubs and other businesses do in sl.

I just saw and read a similar complaint about poorly run clubs in sl in the "Events" forum. Also dealing with dancing.

BTW, thanks to those for the advice on getting the dance animations, I never really saw it like that before but it's a good idea.

I hate it when a club has scripts turned off because I can't use my dance hud. Yeah, I have some freebie dances that I can pull out of my inventory, but most of my good ones are no copy and sitting in my hud. I figure they probably do it to reduce lag, but I'm still gonna whine about it :P

The popular clubs don't turn off scripts to be killjoys. They do it because of the practical fact that if you have 50+ people in one place at once all running their own scripts it will be lag city...

Particle poofers are another problem. I've seen those crash a crowded Sim more times that I care to count.

At the club I dance at we have to remove all unnecessary scripts and scripted objects. If even the staff are trying to be script lite what does that tell you ?

Sims hold 40 avatars anyway.

The club thing in SL is that the dance club is every average joe's vision of the successful social outlet, however it MUST be THEIR club. Hence, instead of having a few successful clubs that have a good staff that relay itself along the timezones and make interesting events, pass good music (and of course pay it's web radio licence) are few and far in between. Mostly because there is just like a thousands of the same type in SL and raising the bar is just too time/money consuming for your average SL club owner.

In RL clubs usually have some way to subsist money wise, entrance fees, bars. These sort of things just don't work in SL, the average SL club isn't just appealing enough that someone would shell even 10 L$ to enter it.

Well someone had better remind the sim that houses the club I work at because it holds up to 100 avatars and I've seen it full ;)

The longer answer is it depends on the sim. Some are limited to 40, others more.

That's for a private sim yes, that's not really your average joe club's price range.

Not just on private Sims Kyrah, i attended a live concert in a mainland Sim, and after the guests removal of all scripts, and prims (Pretty much going back to Ruths) the Property was able to pack in over 80 persons. They could have probably added more had the show it's self not been pretty script, particle, and Prim Intense.
It's Possible, but it takes a Lot of logistics. I would have to agree though, for your average sim, it will probably begin lagging substantially with 40+ Avies on the Sim.

This is curious, last time i check Linden labs had capped mainland sims to 40.

Doesn't make much sense to have more peoples anyway, the sim software can't even handle 40 in a reliable way.

Buy an Amythyst Dance Promande Hud, it comes with 20 od dances and you can add more easily as you find them, I'm up to around 100 dances to chose from anywhere I like, and I can have up to 10 people sycncronised dancing with me just by clicking me without needing a dance hud or copies of the dances themselves.

I use the Chimaera and I love it! Easy to use and you can add dances easily. As for clubs..the one I run is original and located inside one of the largest castles in SL. IM me inworld and you'll get a LM, I'm at work now and don't have my LM's at hand.

Abranimations. Or check out the one I mentioned before, Chimaera. I think it's 800$L now but totally worth it and you can invite about 15 or 20 ppl to dance with you.

I have 3 dancing huds from Abranimations... Salsa, Sexy and... another one (shot me, cannot remember the name :) ). Anyway, they are really great.
