wow, lets see back in High School, my girlfriend and her best friend used KK,this was yeah many years ago and infact Cell phones were the size of a 27" tv. this is how they used it spoken.

She1 "I am going to go with him to lunch today, Downing?"

She2 "KK, see you later!
"
(from there love of KK Downing and Judas Priest) now did these two stoner girls invent text slang before thextig/chating?

I really need to let them know they ought to have registed it ...

I use it in SL sometimes, and for the life of me dont know why.
Woot I don't use as it reminds of all the silly people in Arsinel Halls audience doing that.

on the other hand I do WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
a lot at live music preformances to show my cheers for the artist, here in SL.

In general, most of the strange words and acronyms thst you encounter in SL started as shorthand for lazy instant message senders, or for use in e-mail or on-line chat, where long-winded stuff didn't often get read. In the case of IM and real-time chat, impatient people would rather use a few short letters rather than taking the time to craft an elegant and complete sentance. If you don't type fast, others may think you're nor responding, while you're actually just trying to communicate clearly!

if it's booyah, it's probably a bastardization of the US Military "HUA" (spoken: HOO-WAH) which is an acronym for Heard, Understood, Acknowledged.

If it's not booyah, then I don't know, kk?

Ok, I logged in yesterday to catch up on messages and spotted someone wandering about with the surname (I think) 'Roflecopter'. This CANNOT be a coincidence.

I giggled about that for much of the evening.

(Oh, and also our household uses the term 'wootyfruits' to convey 'very good dear sir, this situation pleases me somewhat'.)

The Z in ZOMG is a mistype people have taken to like hitting 1 when pressing !. You hit Z while trying to capitalize the O in OMG.

Seriously though... I think there is a usage distinction that makes kk different from ok. Maybe it is simply in my head, but saying 'kk' doesn't work in some places that you would use 'ok'. For instance, if someone asked me how I was feeling, I might say 'ok' but never 'kk'. I use 'kk' mainly to acknowledge what someone just said, like 'ok, I hear you':

A: I have something I want to show you
B: kk

but not

A: Did you have fun at the event
B: It was kk

See the difference?

Hmm kk has me stumped a bit, it first semed to me like the annoyed "OKAY OKAY" you get from people after pestering them a lot.
Abrieviating OK to kk doesn't make sense so I just use k

Well having been a D&D player since that games inception, the DnD explanation is just wrong. I never heard anyone use this expression in any forum until after the Everquest explosion. I have always the thought the explanation that it is somehow a leet speak abbreviation for We Own Other Team made the most sense.

It is used as an explanation of of hoy, and in some cases an expression of erotic fulfillment. I think its silly, and extraneous, as english already has plenty of expressions that say the same thing. I'm all for language evolving, but woot! is not where it needs to go.

Woot is as good as saying Peace Man, Chops, Bogus, Totally, Tops, Excellent, whatever, it's an expresssion of joy if you find other peoples joy annoying no matter how they spell it then well, can't help Im afraid. It's going where it wants whatever you think. You may be a set in ways non evolving old fart, git o'er it dood

kk, goes like this. Woot is a word to designate sheer delight in something. " Your going to let your hot girlfriend DO ME??? WOOT!!" I have this gesture I picked up somewhere a long time ago called a 'WOOT'. When you activate the woot gesture your avie says 'WOOT' and you do a standing back flip. A very kool freebie from way back when.
