... and saying there's nothing to do in Second Life....

Pull up Map, and enter the region "Greenies"... up will come Greenies Rezzable Home. Teleport there - anywhere, it doesn't matter as it has a landing point set.

Follow the tunnel... into the house... and see what someone with a bit of imagination has done.

Absolutely... but as things are, without camping chairs or some other lame way to get money, it'll get overlooked by most people who either "won't get it" or will give up in a couple of minutes.

I've spammed all my friends telling them to come have a look... every one of them is impressed.

Whoever did this... wonderful, simply wonderful. Thankyou.

I loved the Greenies sim. There was a SL blogger that did a segment on it. Very imaginative. I love the "giant" building concept.

Or visit Serenity Woods, and take one of the Teleporters around the sim to visit the many places and see what other creative geniuses have done. Such as me, alazarin, feynt, and others. :) Sorry i didn't mean to steal the crowd if i did. I will swing by and visit sometime today.

I second the Svarga notion. It was one of the earliest sims I was told to go see, and I was deeply impressed.

There's only a finite amount of money, and gamblers, to fill "cookie cutter" casinos and clubs... there's more than enough people to easily fill the truly impressive creative builds in SL.

When builds like the ones mentioned in this thread become the majority in Second Life, rather than sex clubs and casinos, I believe that's when we'll really see the potential here.

Yes it is an awesome build, but how many times will you visit it before it becomes stale?

There are many outstanding builds in SL, Grendel's Children, Apollo, Devils Moon, and the list goes on. I think I have wandered across some of the most ingenious builds during my stay in SL.

But eventually you get to the point where a couple log ins a week will fill your need for wandering.

The landscape has turned to giant malls, landscaped parks, outside business advertising (Dell, Intel, Toyota, Playboy) and they all start to look alike after a small amount of time.

The countless number of night clubs, 80's memories, and sleazy attire is just a reflection of the many residents trying to relive or make up for what they don't experience in real life.
Kinda sad actually.

Artists who try to express their visions are shot down for using nudity or painting a picture of the real world and their view of it. Groups are harassed because they use SL as a way of expressing themselves in ways others may not approve of. Isn't that what a *Second Life* should be all about?

Eventually all SL will be is a 3d advertising medium for the masses unless more imaginative builds cover the landscape as well as people becoming more understanding of each others views and allowing them to express them.

Every day the Real World still offers more then Second Life can ever offer. Don't let the ones that don't have a First Life ever convince you otherwise.

Amen. Well said.

I understand some peoples' losses, but I have complete faith that this is a starting point of not loosing our freedom, but becoming less tolerant of cookie-cutter attractions.

How many people in RL do nothing but sit in a casino all day? That would be a waste of a life...and if you do this in SL, that would be a waste of your second life.

In your opinion. Plenty of people think that sitting on the internet is a waste of time too, or playing online games, or going shopping, or whatever. Let people do what they want to do here, it's their imagination, you do what you want to do with your imagination.

Having said that there are some good places to visit in this thread, there's just no need for the constant "I'm superior because I visit here" tone that's prevalent throughout this thread.

I dunno. I don't think becoming "less tolerant" of someone else's interests is really the secret key to SL's true potential.

Nobody's "better" than anyone else in Second Life. Don't let anyone think otherwise. Some of us may have greater skills in certain aspects of the game, but at the end of the day, we're all just streams of digital data, operated by a human.

As we speak, we're starting developing something that none of us have ever personally seen in Second Life, and may well be a "first"... and, like all things, we'll join the challenge to make the "best" of its type, against others doing similar things.

I don't see any cause for concern for the general population by a group of individuals getting excited about things that aren't clubs or casino's.

If a quarter of the space currently taken by casinos and campers were turned into creative builds (and there was some motivation for this to happen...financial or otherwise), SL would be a different place. You might get sick of going to the same sim three times a week, but what if there were 100 sims, all creatively built, changing weekly?

To me, this thread has been entirely about embracing diversity. Not eliminating it, even those aspects that don't meet our own private stamp of approval.
