Classic rock band The Scorpions indicated Monday that it is breaking up, an announcement that will come as a surprise to many who will read this and suddenly remember there was a once a band called "The Scorpions" - a group endeared to many as "that band who did that one song, I forget what it's called".

Honestly - who here can say with a straight face that they knew The Scorpions were still ALIVE, much less together as a group? The kicker is that the story actually made CNN:

http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2010/01/25/scorpions-announce-breakup/?hpt=Sbin

Awww they are my other half's absolute favorite band.
I know we all remember them for "Winds of Change",but go and listen to "She's A Woman, He's a Man" for the comedy (and very appropriate for SL!!!!), and my favorite song for romance is "Still Loving You"... just go check out this under-rated band!!!!!!!!

scorpions and "underrated" are at polar opposite ends of the universe.

Right. They're the septuagenarian millionaires who like to show how "tough" they are by breaking their instruments on stage, right? Famous for the songs . . . um . . . um . . .

Um . . .

/me runs away -- but not TOO quickly, because people in walkers don't move very fast . . .

The first time I ever had sex, my boyfriend had an 8 track tape of the Scorpions playing. I can't remember anything about that night other than we listened to the tape on an endless loop for over an hour or more. I remember that because I wasn't a fan.

Does anyone else remember 8 track tapes?

8 track wha . . . ?

Ok, I have to be honest. I HAVE heard an 8 track tape. When I was very young, I stayed for a week in someone's RV, that had an 8 track player in it. And tapes of Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette.

Even at the age of, like, 8, it seemed remarkably lame.

I personally have seen at least 5 farewell tours from The Who. I'm not sure of the exact number, I kinda lost count.

But damn, I hope they keep 'em coming. PETE!!! :D

/me slides the spectacles down his nose and peers over them.

I saw The Who in '74, '75 or thereabouts when both The Ox and Keith Moon were still living - and they was wicked awesome. One of the most innovative bands in history. That poor auditorium is probably still reverberating.

However I'm more of a progressive rock animal myself - you know, music that sounds like the mating rituals of the three-sexed mollusks from the planet Calamari 9.

Get one of those walkers with 4 wheels on it, you can move pretty fast with one of those. Plus some of them have little seats you can sit on while you catch your breath from speed gimping a block or so.

Don't be silly, Chris. I know better than to try to run from you. You probably have some cheap jedi trick that'd trip me up anyway.

No tricks, just raw sex appeal.

More accurately, just prune up and stay pickled all the time. So many decades of hard booze in that man that when he dies, they'll preserve him for all time by placing him in a jug of water.. no preservatives needed.
