I am not at all in favour of the one post per blog idea. I am in favour of greater moderatrion.

Greater moderation isn't going to happen, but I don't think you need worry about this getting implemented anytime soon Ciaran. Most important points of Torley's comment at Jira:
* Comments are capped at 100 because of the flamewars that break out. * If you notice posters flaming or repeatedly disrupting conversations at the blog, please email torley at lindenlab dot com with names and URLs. * Wordpress.com hosts the Second Life blog but unfortunately they don't allow third party plugins - meaning LL can't write/implement a commenting solution (like the one proposed in this thread) right now. * If you know of any existing wordpress plugins that possess similar functionality to the proposed solution in this thread, please let Torley know about it. Maybe some already exist at http://wp-plugins.net. * LL would like to link unique avatar logins to the blog commenting system (tighter integration and authentication) and believe it will happen, but not anytime soon because their priorities currently lie elsewhere. I miss bbcode. ![]() |

There is a case for banning blatant blog blockers from the blogs and also from SL as they are likely to have a similar attitude to our 'world'.

Anybody abusing the blog should be suspended or banned from the blog. If LL start suspending and banning people in-world for things they did/said on the blog, well I'll have to start using an alt over there too. I can't afford to use my main in an environment like that due to the assets and interests tied up in that account. I try to behave responsibly, but we all get angry (not aggressive) from time to time and that's what worries me. |

If LL start suspending and banning people in-world for things they did/said on the blog, well I'll have to start using an alt over there too. I think it depends upon the nature of the offence. If someone goes to the blog and posts links to hardcore porn, that would surely be banworthy everywhere. If someone calls someone a "Knob" on the blog or forum, then that's a wrist slapping at worst. If they're repeat offenders you might have to address it again. However if someone were to go the blog and say "Object Pascale is a rip off merchant, he sold me stolen goods" and this wasn't at all true, as it could adversely affect your inworld reputation, then inworld punishment for the person trying to besmirch your name is probably appropriate. |

Fresh new Blog entry just been made, so you might want to quickly post your thoughts before it gets filled up with jibber jabber (already it's begun lol) I know I've Linden Bashed before but I'm honestly begining to feel sorry for them now. Some must be trying their darndest (is that an actual word?) to fix things. I'm also suprised that comments are open after the last blog, it spilled over into a previous blog entry that wasnt full, if you want to have a laugh, shake ya head, what ever lol (its a few entries down)
I'd love to vote on that Jira thingy, but when I try log in, my name isnt reconised ![]() _____________________

I would have gone with two messages as a limit, not one.
One to ask for clarification of something in the blog comment, and one more to say "that's not what I asked, can you please answer *this*" ![]() _____________________

Well they use to do this. But over the past 2 to 3 months or so LLABS has stopped this action. Hence why things are just a muck these days/ |

I've met people in-world after forum spats and found them to behave much differently. Forums and blogs bring out something weird in people. It's something to do with having your ego bashed in front of hundreds of readers I think - instead of one or two people in a live conversation. The more people reading the spat, the more they want to save face, whereas in a live conversation fewer would be reading/listening and the topic evolves quickly so things don't seem like such a big deal. Yes. It's classic. The absence of real (or immersive) world feedback leads some people to behave in ways that they would not in a face to face situation. For them the 'invincibility' is lake a drug. They just can't resist going back to it. They can't get it into their heads that in an online forum it is IMPOSSIBLE to shout another person down. The problem with the Blog is that the alcoholics are drinking the bar dry. The rest of us can't get a drink - and the bar has gone way down-market.. There's some excessive drinking going on in the Blog again today. The best advice that I've seen about online forums goes like this: "Never wrestle with a pig. The pig enjoys it, and you just get covered in muck." |
