I read a few replies but my attention span isn't so great today, so I skipped most of the longer replies, so forgive me for repeating what may have been said.
I think the whole "SL celebrity" thing is a load of bollocks, to be honest. Sure we have great builders, creators and such, but the term "celebrity" is not the word I would use for them. To me, a "celebrity" is someone who lives in the spotlight, who goes after it, courts it and desires it. Many people just go about their business and keep on creating, building and designing without needing a spotlight on their every move. As for who is and who isn't...I think it comes down to your own personal views. I've seen a couple of people in SL lately who's work I have admired either on flickr, in these forums or I frequent their stores. Normally I would just stand and stare, but I have made a point of IMing and letting them know how much I appreciate and admire their work. I wouldn't consider them celebrities, but then, I don't consider anyone in SL one to start with. We're all people making new worlds to live in and explore our more creative sides. Celebrity, in the end, is just a popularity/ego contest. |

I can honestly say not many people recognize me.. even thou people play my games quite a bit. im still waiting to meet someone in second life who knows what second life is.. and as a bonus knows who i am.. then i know ive made it big lmao.
but till then.. im actually ok with not being super famous because its not my type of thing. i like being that "normal guy" with everyone else. |
