From: Tali Rosca Greater minds than you and I have crumbled under Blender's user interface. I am fairly convinced that Blender is, in fact, a two-dimensional view of one of the Lovecraftian Elder Gods. I don't remember exactly who those Gods were but looking at I swear sometimes is like looking at the face of demonic tedious mysterious puzzle like the that bizarre cube if I remember right was in Hellraiser except it just only let's some go to that magical hell place and everyone else it taunts with confusing microscopic board of strange words and grids.

From: Trout Recreant It turns out that people are just people, no matter what they have accomplished. Unless they're FIC.

From: Trout Recreant I snip
I'm glad I met the people I did before I knew who they were. I've got some good friends and have had some great laughs, and I would hate to think I would have missed out on those because I was afraid to approach someone. I think that is what I ment by the difference between back then and now. People were very approachable and open. There were alot less people so there was sort of an everyone at least has heard of everyone feeling that made it easy to IM Hank Ramos and ask for scripting help or any one of many others.

From: FD Spark I never met Toy but I have heard of her. Did't Dagon meet her at an Explorer's meeting? I know both were at the same meetin'

I don't think Dagon talked much to Toy even then and I am forgetful sorry.

People still are. Although some of the biggest names are very very busy and it might be hard to get a little face time with them. There's an old saying though, "If you want to get something done, ask a busy person", and there is some truth to that.

I know for myself there is certain amount things even as someone who not like famous or running business that is like making tons of L that I need to just be anti-social, it gets difficult when I start to trying to do things to create, enjoy my life, especially when I am having major health stuff going on and I am getting constantly bombarded with people coming and going on friend list, people announcing things in groups, people saying hi, people asking questions. I really love my quiet time in SL. I can't imagine what it would be like if you're artist, plus trying to have social life, and running business too, with tons of friends inviting you to come to their club, sending you unannounced tps to come somewhere to see something, etc. I get small amount of that and it overwhelms me with small friend list. I can't imagine what this would be like if you were someone as well known as Desmond. It would be literal nightmare for me.

From: FD Spark I really love my quiet time in SL. So do I. It's funny, given that one could simply turn off the computer and get away from it all, but I have a couple quiet spots I'll go inworld to think and just be.

From: Kivi Indigo ok so I am a bit of a fangirl
I might set myself up for some evil boardtrollies! Kiv Fangirl? I'd say you're a bit more then that. To consider item creators in second as "famous celebrities" shows you don't get out much. Actually, it shows you don't get out at all. Celebrities, yeah right!

FWIW, "Feted Inner Core" eventually warped into "Fetid Inner Core."
For me, I'd faint dead away if I ever met the creators of Lauk's Nest and Lost Gardens of Apollo. (Argh, I can't remember names right now!)

From: Desmond Shang Besides, in a list of life accomplishments, who *really* wants to be well known on the internet? At best you could maybe rub shoulders with Gary Brolsma, Chris Crocker, the Star Wars Kid and the dancing baby. Hey, I knew Jay Maynard before he was cool.

I love my WL skies and laying back watching the clouds or waves and sparkling linden waters, or prim waterfall myself. Maybe I could see all that in real life but it sort of be hard to do in and be able to remain in bed too.

From: Damien1 Thorne Unless they're FIC. Good point. I'm not FIC, and it seems unlikely that I ever will be. Hell, I got fired as a mentor for failure to smooch butt properly! So I'm forming my own group and we're going to come up with all sorts of conspiracies. We'll be very sneaky about it and insinuate to people that we know people in the know and that we are getting some extra special treatment as a result. We're very secretive. Even we don't know who we are. Phear us!!

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

From: Yumi Murakami But then again, I was once invited over to someone's sim to see how they'd deployed the BijoCam, and just as I turned around from exploring their example area, next to me were Timeless Prototype, Pierce Portocarro and Hiro Pendragon. This was a complete "OH MY GOD!!" moment for me, but when I mentioned it to a friend in IM, their reaction was "... Who?" heh I used to be friends with timeless, even posed for some of his ads

(O.o) Well I remember when I saw you inworld it was like seeing a celebrity then I realized I was in alt and watched you build went on own way without asking for a autograph. I hope it gives you warm fuzzies not creepy crawlies.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways I wonder what level of celebrity status is earned from being a member of the forum clique.... Whoever they are. (O.o) I'm going to estimate somewhere between zero and zero times 3. I'm pretty sure the people who cry about the evil clique would put me in it, and I have zero celebrity status, so my highly scientific study of a control group of one person indicates that being in the so-secret-it's-nonexistent clique doesn't help at all.

Some really great names have already been mentioned, but here's a few more.
Yadni Monde - I found his junkyard shortly after I joined, and it really helped me out a lot.
Dominus Skye - brought Slingo into SL, and getting hooked on that game ensured my addiction to SL.
Whoever built the Ivory Tower of Primitives - awesome resource for anyone trying to learn to build
Whoever built Svarga - extremely inspirational build that always leaves me in awe
RacerX Gullwing - just for the avatar. Man that's one cool looking rabbit.
To me, it seems like the people I meet after being a fan of their work are celebrities, the people whose work I get to know after meeting them are friends or acquaintances. It's all a matter of perspective.
