Guys, maybe some of you should stop just skimming, and actually start ....

Sorry, I just skimmed over your post, what was the question?

Ceera's post #155 nails it for me. Wallace really is a clueless corporate shill. He seems to assume everyone approaches online life in the same way.

Not everyone does, Wally!

Look, I don't know Wallace from a hole in the wall. Never heard of him before the post in question. But somehow I tend to doubt that someone who would say, "you shouldn't necessarily be forced to make the same associations I do," is a person who assumes everyone approaches ANYTHING the same way, let alone the very topic he's discussing at the time.

So they want to connect second life to first life and lose the roughly 50% of the players/users base who don't want to hear about it?

*reads further*

Ah, opt-in, hehe.

I can rationalize that one real easy. He just left out part of it it. It's more like "You shouldn't necessarily be forced to make the same associations I do, but my bosses think otherwise, so therefore we will be doing this fairly soon and don't really care what you think, ipso facto, presto chango, e pluribus eunuch."

Wouldn't be the first time that's happened. :D

Thanks for the heads up. I'll fire up the tar cauldrons just behind the battlements atop my roof.

If by linking RL to SL, they will be requiring everyone to register with RL information for accounts.. which will never be seen by anyone else, I'm cool with. Or if they are referring to the fact that we will have one master account and can now link our alts to them, again, I'm for it.

If they're telling me that I have to link my facebook account to my SL account, they can get bent. Now, if they make it optional.. cool. Some people will want to blather on about their RL to complete strangers, but I don't.

THAT. EXACTLY.

So what people actually say doesn't matter. Only what we choose to imagine they kind of sort of possibly could have might have meant, in our own minds, is what counts. Gotcha.

Yes i think they have some kind of openid in mind. That could bring us the possibility to make web sites where you could log with your SL account. Maybe to Facebook as well, who knows what they exactly have in mind?

None of those. He's a dog called Bonzo and he has a wet nose.

That's Benzeau du clan de Chien-Supérieur to you. :p

(Did you have to bring up the wet nose?)

I'll only vote for you if you lie to me, make promises you won't keep, and take all my money from me to give to someone else. That's how it works here.

A few people mentioned the FB purge even if Wally didn't, so went to check to see if my Avie FB account was part of the roundup. Unfortunately it wasn't, so I had to deactivate it myself.

All his post is, is a continuation of typical LL games. Float a few balloons. Watch how people who care enough to post on the forums or blog hate the idea. Hold a few in world invitation only meetings. Announce that there is widespread resident support for the plan. Implement plan.

We have seen it time after time.

Some lucky people in the first wave of Twitter signups from SL will get double-length Tweet capability.

In 2010 Chosen has tar cauldrons and battlements. In 2004 i think Chosen would have been charging the phaser banks and raising shields. :p

And at the end of the path is a shallow grave.
