http://rhadesigns.blogspot.com/

I was going to visit some stores today and do another set of reviews but ended up being up all night working on a pair of boots, so, once I sleep I will come back raring to go and get to visiting those stores (and now blogs LOL)

if you add me to your blog list and you are not on mine, just give me a shout or leave a comment on my blog and I will add you.

*yawns*

why oh why did I stay up all night :(

So much to do so little time :)

note to self

*Must look into getting a blog for store
*Must get around to everyone elses blogs and stores
*Must see about cancelling that subscription to RL and just doing SL, RL seems to cut to much into my SL
*Put up my new slurl for my new store for review at the clearing.

MMm oh and have some fun creating and checking on this thread YAY!

I can't do a blog...not enough hours in the day....but I've been to some of yours, and they are great. I could offer a sign board with a landmark, in my store.....if that would be an equal exchange.....let me know.

Mine too? It's hardly much...

Thanks for the gift Mickey - and I'm totally not sure whether a blog even works. Especially an unknown blog. I'm getting written up in someone's famous blog and have a writeup in another already... but I'm not sure if it drives any business because it's impossible to tell who's visiting my blog pages and whether those "impressions" as they call them actually lead to traffic or better yet, sales. Still, it's a "word of mouth" thing, and those can't be discounted even if the effects aren't measurable.

Re Blog- add me to your blog roll please- I will add you to mine 

I wish I knew more about blogging - I have no idea how to access my blog roll or that I even had one. :) Do they come with butter?

If blogspot has some secret way to do that, please let me know. EDIT: Never mind, I found it.... :)

From: Amaranthim Talon
April- I meant to ask- can you give more info on Fashion R Us? And how and what do you use for your greeter? Please look at my blog- I have been adding things from this discussion there too- feel free to comment or suggest additions- thank you for joining us here- together we can make this profitable for all of us - plenty of folks to market ourselves to-

Fashions-R-Us is a clone of Fashion Consolidated with 1/10th the membership of "Fashcon".

FYI, little known secret group: "Fashion Consolidated Cafe". Very active discussions about fashion stuff and everything else ... not for the faint of heart... sometimes it gets pretty dramatic and dirty in there :)

I wrote my own greeter script. I've been thinking about selling it, but haven't gotten around to it :)

April- to edit your blogroll in Blogspot - open "New Post, then Layout- then choose Add and Arrange Page Elements - choose "My Blog List". There you say add- paste in the url, then save it - you are good to go :)

One other suggestion. I'm not sure these have been mentioned. :p

Announce your new items here in the classifieds section of the forums. There's a shopping forum and a new products forum. Just scroll down the main forums page. Also announce your stuff at the new products forum in slexchange and announce them in the slshopper ads of sluniverse.

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it is better to put items in the "Shopping" forum or the "New Products" forum?

Me personally i think put your new products in the new products, and then after a day or so put them in the shopping section :)

I didn't think that was allowed as Jeska has stickies in both fora warning against cross posting in both locations.

OK, I visited a few stores tonight, and added some of you to my blogroll. If you want to be on there, and are not, please drop me a notecard with the landmark of your store, your blog, if any, and what kind of freebie it is. Please don't do this if your freebies are group only gifts.

Thanks :)

It says in the description of each forum what you should post. So you can post in the shopping forum if you have a new store or if you are holding a special sales event at your store. You can post in the new products section only to announce new products. I'm not sure how well those forums are enforced though.

OK... I should have taken a pic- I will do so tomorrow- or u could pop in :)

My thanks to Gabriele Reves Vampire par excellence with out whom my new adboard would have failed miserably. I Have released the Enchanted gown u say on my blog- but it is not a mass release yet- no notice has gone out and it is only at the main store- but- go take a peek- not for the gown- but for the display :)

I yanked off my hair and dyed myself lime green --- i stood on a green posing stand against a green background on a green floor... then having taken the pic- i cropped me out using Gabriele's advice- The result is a simple gown on an alpha textured prim- needs signage still but i was tired- go take a peek at Talon Faire in Terminus- - Feedback please - it's my first one. I know it needs a sign of some sort and a hanger wd have been nice or other sort of mannequin. Oh Skell- i will add the Mannequins u showed me- if nothing else it is a visual sure to be noticed and this style of advert work somehow.

Night peeps I am dead.

My experience is the same. I have had satellite shops in a few malls and have them now in two high traffic city sims. I get way more sales at my own main, stand alone store, even though the only thing I do to promote it is pay the L$30 for it to be in search (and my sig here). I think people must just notice it when they are flying around and come in to look around.

same here, satellite shops never seemed to work for me, bulk of my (albiet low) sales, comes from the main store

I took a peek at the dress... not sure exactly what it was you were attempting to do, it just kinda gets lost, as it is not an ad, in the middle of the floor... I almost passed it by, until my mouse noticed it was for sale....

also you still have a green halo around it

personally I find ads better, when it is shown on the avatar, when I see them stand alone like that I either assume it is for decorative purpose and do not check to see if for sale (ie a clothes rack), or I presume that the designer did not want to show the flaws as seen on the avatar, so used a neutral pose to eliminate all flaws and then erased the avatar from it...

that is just my take, others will of course vary

Especially with the new Search All, it seems better to focus on your own parcel instead of sattelite stores.

In my experience, sattelite stores work best when they are related to a good running main store. Myself I rent out 2 10x10 shops next to my main store, and both have good sales. My main store does attract customers who all see the 2 smaller shops as well. Since a week or so, they both have their own parcel cut out, so they show up in search under their own name as well. Works way better then any mall you can think of. And I did try quite a few spots in the past.

This is no hidden advertisement, as I will not rent out any new shops :) If the shop renters ever decide to leave, their shops will be teared down as I can use the space. But if you are presented with the opportunity to rent a shop next to a main store, it is a good option, especially if you do not have too many items yet.

Well - folks seem to think my ads were too cluttered, Rha, and some suggested I remove me entirely from the picture. I didn't see the halo- damn- more cleaning I guess. I had not thought anyone would think the simple advert would be seen as an attempt to hide anything- not real sure what one could hide just by removing the avie. I can see where it could be taken for decor though... OK... It is not enough, like I said - I know it needs something to stand out... hmm I will rethink... Maybe use regular board and the dress cut out as a highlight? OK.. /me thinks some more. Thanks Rha :)

/me is slogging through listing all his stuff on SLX today. Bleurgh, what a task.

Tell you what, Amara: I love doing SL photography and graphic design, and while I don't claim to be the best at it by any means, would you like me to make a couple of sample signs for you? I'd just need maybe half an hour of your time somewhere inworld where you could model maybe two or three of your outfits, I'll take some high-resolution pics and then disappear into Photoshop for a bit. I've never done fashion photography before (unless you count my own posing on Flickr *g*) so it could be an interesting challenge ;)

BTW, almost every adboard for clothes that I've seen has included the avatar wearing them, and I think that people like to see what the clothes will look like when worn. The only times I ever see cutouts is when people mock up actual display rails of clothes, as in a RL store.
