There are almost 4000 posts. I figured _everything_ had been said here before. *g* I was just surprised that the last few pages still seemed to be about improving sales and that the thread hadn't derailed completely ages ago.

Those signs are also a good place to drop in keywords for search. Good graphics are important, but good text can be effective advertising long before the graphics rez.

YES!! I've just re-named my sales board and even parts of the store. My store is really intimate [read small lol] and doesn't really have departments. I do suggest to folks that they show all hover tips on the View menu so one can read during rez too ;) :)

Glad to see you in here- Belinda/Rhiannna.

As Rha is the Mother of the Undying Thread, you started this rolling and it snowballed. All of us have benefited greatly from all we have read here and implementing the advice given. For that thank you - now move over and share the popcorn!

GREAT to see you back!!!!!!

/me does a blatant promotion of STEAM: The Hunt beginning Sept. 1. From looking at the website, there are some really cool items being given out. (And Amar is participating in this hunt as well!!)

As Amar said, I don't think any of us can thank you enough for starting this thread, I know we have all learnt a lot from each others experiences and formed some great friendships along the way too.

Hangs head in shame.....I have to admit I don't really know what SLU is....anybody care to enlighten me ?

No shame. What it is for me is a good source of info not found in the SL forums/blogs/ravings.

I open to that particular page to keep abreast of Tyche's posting on sim changes.

I'm sure it's been posted before, but does either of you have a link to the website? (I don't mind cutting and pasting.) I'm looking forward to seeing this particular hunt.

Well, it has been a couple of crazy weeks.

Two weeks ago I meant to go back and rework the XStreet listings to get more keywords in, and maybe sort out some of my other builds (few though there are) so I could put out a few more, ended up running all over the grid instead.

Last week I was under the weather, either low-grade sick or burned out from the running of the week before. Mooched around in the forums, but was hardly in-world. I did get sidetracked on a building project, but I'm not sure it will go anywhere.

This weekend I was feeling better, but pinched for L$ to cover my tier rental, so I spent hours hopping around the grid looking at 1024s and found a couple I thought I could fall in love with. Then I TPed home. Looking at my SL yard through the lens of real estate listings made me realize what a prime spot I have, and I fell in love with it all over again.

Checked my email to learn that the beloved club I hostess for, my SL home-away-from-home, is shutting its doors. I also spent some time reading one of the notecards Czari passed me from one of jojo's lectures - emphasizing the importance of an in-world location.

So... need for an inworld location... big piece of land that needs to start helping pay for itself... out of an SL job... sounds like time to think about setting up a store, and refocus on building stuff and building business. Funny how life works, isn't it?

ETA Czari, thanks for posting the link for the STEAM hunt - how exciting that it's starting in your store! You go, you!

Good on the bump up Nic :)

Sometimes, in both lives, things happen that seem they will be quite tragic or at least a hiccup and it turns out it was all for the best. I hope this joblesness in SL will turn out that way for you, Nic.

Now a little headsup, don't make my mistake sort of warning...

I made a little fireplace- first i have made, and i am darn happy with it- you can see it if you are curious on my blog page- anywa, i finally got the pix shot as i wanted them, my photo editing thing was giving me grief before, and i set the thing out for sale on XStreet. Had not finished setting up the additional pix when Bang! One got sold! OMG!!!! I am jumping out of my skin 'cause wow! ... I go back to check the commission and such... I uhm- neglected to put a price on it! :o So my first fireplace went out to one lucky Xstreet shopper as a freebie! Haha :D No biggie, I fixed the issue and maybe some one will think it worth the L's :D

Well time for an update from me again as well I guess.

Last time (I think) I mentioned that I acquired an animation store, selling full permission erotic animations. That happened to be quite a good buyout, as it generated good revenue :) Spent a lot of time re-packing and re-branding, and finally the move towards Zindra. Sold the 4096 mainland (for a stunning 2 linden per sqm), and now work from 4 parcels of 1024 sqm, double prim. Good trade I would think.

After a lot of testing with classified ads in SL, I decided not to use those anymore. For each of my 3 businesses I simply run a 50 linden ad so I can be found, but that's it. Paying several thousand linden for an ad simply does not pay of.

Different it is with XStreet. 3 of my animation packs I put up for Homepage Features, costing my about 9000 linden per month. Did my revenue a lot of good though, since the cheapest box is already 4000 linden, I break even pretty fast. Since all my items are listed under the same account, sales on my furniture are slightly improved as well on XStreet.

At the moment I am thinking about expanding my business a bit more, though I am not in a hurry (lack of time). Want to dedicate my HS sim to the plants business, and move the furniture to a sim of it's own (HS as well). So I am investigating the 3 options I have:
1 - renting a second HS sim.
2 - buying a mainland sim, sell my furniture from a platform, and use the ground leven for the plants.
3 - buying an island and do the same as in 2.

Now since the purchase price for mainland sims are still pretty high, that probably is not a viable option. Tier on a private island for me is 295 + 19% = 351 US$ which is a tad too much. It would simply put a hole in my profits, and I do not need the prims at all. So I just might open a second homestead sim one of these weeks, pretty kewl.

You're most welcome :) Now that I've finished my hunt item, I can relax until this evening when I set everything up in my shoppe.

Then I can relax some more and get some much neglected RL stuff done.

Thanks, Amar - you too! *Blinks at 97* I had no idea there were that many stores participating.

I came back online last night at 10 pm SLT (2 hours prior to the start of the hunt) to put out my item and hint. I arrived to at least 5 people in the store and several arriving every few minutes. I told each one that the hunt didn't begin until midnight and tried to get my item hidden between arrivals. Whew!

161 people had come through the store when I read my visitor list this morning. I sat in the store for about 2 hours and greeted people as they arrived and there was a steady stream.

(I really have to make some more items and this would be a good time to set out my group joiner again.)

Someone should be heading your way very soon, Amara. I think you're about #74 or so? I saw someone in hunt group chat a few minutes ago saying they'd skipped ahead and were at #71.
