From: Nic Writer Okay, still feeling good about the Hair Fair EXCEPT for the designer whose demos (and included notecards) informed me in very harsh terms that if I EVER rezzed one of her hairs instead of wearing it, the hair would return to my inventory, I would be added to her LIST of copybotters and thieves, and my Second Life would be ruined forever.... Given that many products in SL are boxed and need to be rezzed so they can be unpacked before wearing (so that's a standard thing a lot of people tend to do) she could be banning a lot of potential customers who assume what they've just bought is boxed and must first be unpacked. Only last week I got a hair sample from the Designer Showcase Network. It landed in my Objects folder, so on assuming it would be boxed like all of the others I rezzed it at home, only to see it was just the hairstyle itself, taking up a lot of our spare prims. It's a very easy mistake to make.

From: Clarissa Lowell Or is that too logical? I vote for it was too logical.

From: Katheryne Helendale I agree... Absolutely abominable customer relations skills! Which store was this?
If we could all stand the lag, I think it would be funny, and well worth the $L1 each to go in there, buy the demo, and drop it on the floor! I can see her business model and attitude changing real fast when faced with the idea of banning her entire customer base! LOVE IT!!! I know you can't mention the store here, Nic, due to TOS and all, but I would love to know the store in an IM, either here or in world. I feel a rez coming on!!

Skell, I agree. There was a notecard in the folder with the hair, but I get the impression not a lot of SL customers read their notecards. And Katheryne and Czari, that would be hilarious, but I've already deleted the stuff and emptied my trash so I'm not sure I can even remember the designer. You'd think I'd take notes or something... *sigh*
Actually, I was afraid after I posted that that I was overreacting, so I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this is ridiculous. A combination of Katheryne's suggestion and some of Desmond's previous posts gave me an idea for the perfect way to handle it, though a little late for me to use now that I'm posting it here...
Rez the hair... Immediately IM the creator, babbling and begging for forgiveness... I rezzed the hair waiting for the notecard to load and I'm such an idiot and now I'm on your bad person list and I'm really not a bad person and I'm so, so, sooo sorry for being such a doofus and can you ever forgive me... If the creator takes me off the sh*t list, IM with profuse thanks, send a friendship request, tell them they're the best designer ever, send pics of me wearing the hair demo with a plethora of different outfits I'm going to wear the actual hair with as soon as I get around to buying it, really... Wait a week or so... Rez the hair...
Why do I never think of these things in time to pull them off?

It is officially "next week" now. Has anyone tried going to the hair fair today? Is it any better?

Um, yeah. Way to call every potential customer a thief, not to mention making your hair (no mod, apparently, but of course it has a resize script) completely useless. Had to pay (L$1) for the privilege of being told off by the demos too.
Some intriguing styles, but no thanks. Demos (and dollarbies and notecards and landmarks) deleted. Pfft... I shoulda rezzed one of the hairs just to make sure I never had to deal with that loon and her products ever again. I realize copybot can be a problem, but that's just beyond unreasonable. wow!! just WOW! people are way too paranoid! you are not wrong in thinking this is way over the top. I have rezzed hairs before, exactly for the reason I thought they were boxed. I rarely read notecards unless it is something new for me (and hair is not new LOL) I know how to adjust it, if it has a color script and resize script I know how to click the hair. (I prefer mod hair, not resize scripted, sometimes one might need to move 1 or 2 prims, not just resize them) Designers/creators, need to stop being so paranoid, and move on with their Slife...

There`s some REALLY nice stuff for females at the fair. As with anything for males, it`s lacking. I think people like to make what people will buy, and women tend to buy more. Last year my 1 women`s style sold more then my 3 mens styles put together...
Most of the hair fair stuff will be available in the designers main store after July 4th. So one way to avoid lag is to go look at the hair fair flickr pool and see if you like anything, then you can visit the creator`s shop after the fair.
@ Nic Writer - Wow that`s beyond words... I hope someone IM`d her/him about it.

And I'm gonna poke people to run to Aitui and grab this one when that happens: Seriously great style, and I'm pleased as hell to have found one I can wear glasses and sunglasses with, and not endure that bloody alpha sorting glitch! (Psst, any chance of doing in it white or silver, too? )

I know it's a little out of topic, but my partner was at Diversity Hair and their female gift included also some skins (very nice BTW)

A "little bird" whispered the name of the designer to me. I've been wanting to get into just a lil mischief lately. Mwuahahahahahahaha.
