Talking behind someone's back in IM, then realising I'd typed it into chat...

Regarding freebies, I know that selling freebies is against the TOS, but what about a creator who gives away a product as a promo for a few days and then decides to offer it on general sale at a price?

I don't think that selling freebies is actually against TOS. It's just unethical.

However, the creator is always within their rights to sell at whatever price they choose. I've seen plenty of items offered cheap or free while still in testing phase, and then sold at a higher price when completed.

Then while hanging around a TP area waiting for the world to rezz, someone asked me not to be logging chat please as it is considered rude.

What? I have never heard that, and I keep logging on at all times. (My ADD makes logging pretty much a necessity for me.) It seems to me that anything said in open chat is just that, and if someone doesn't want a stranger seeing it, they should take it to IM.

Is there even a way to see if someone has logging turned on? I'm not aware of one.

My biggest mistake was going on an insane impulsive land-buying binge while I was still quite the newb. I found a perfect place for a great price, and ended up buying over half the sim. The problems:

(A) I was still in my first month and under L$ trading limits, so had to buy cash from Anshe at a ridiculous price.

(B) I bought JUST over half a sim, meaning I had to pay the full sim tier of $195.

(C) I bought the central parcels first, and while trying to obtain additional funds, lost the one parcel that would have connected me to two Linden ocean sims... and then the buyer put up ban-lines so no one could cross her water! (Which was pretty silly, as everything she built on the property was in the sky well above ban-line reach.)

The tier and the unfriendly neighbor quickly soured me on the property, and I sold it less than two weeks later. Even though it was sold at a profit, between the tier and the bad exchange rate from Anshe, I lost several hundred dollars of real money.

But you know what? I learned so much from the experience, both about SL and my RL self, that it was totally worth it. :)

Hehe can't disagree with that.

You're an official troll now, that's rather impressive.
Trying to figure out how a parody post got me AR'ed. Oh well, if I get banned you'll still have the guy who AR'ed me to keep you in stitches.

Trying to pay a sploader 1000 and accidentally added another 0 at the end.

Whoopsies.

On the plus side, the people really liked the result and always welcomed me to that club afterwards.

Buying a 4096 parcel to build an adult themed club only to realise I bought it in a PG sim.

Spending a day or two carefully setting up all the furniture, plants and other goodies on a 1/4 sim parcel, then remembering to set auto-return, which I like to keep at 5 minutes.

Then 5 minutes later, finding out that I'd been wearing the wrong group tag for the past two days.

The 1st house I bought for 6000L thinking it was so nice....only to find that it was a complete bodge build, it was so bad I couldnt stay in it because all I could see were the faults everywhere. But I always like to make a positive from a negative if possible and learnt a great deal about building by trying to 'correct' this house....now I'll never buy a house, I'll always build my own :)

I was making a skin one night and have a habit of leaving myself in its naked or half dressed or deformed state (depending what I am working on at the time) cause its a pain to get all that half adjusted stuff back on when your working on it. Well this one night i was working on a skin and it was pretty well done mostly detailed and just worrying about the seams and loggd out in my nekid state.

The next day during a coffee break I was surfing blogs and came across Torley Linden's blog (i had been there before but was perusing more pages). I found a link to teleport to Torley's office and was curious about textures and such things and absentmindedly clicked the link thinking nothing of it to port to Torley's office. I arrived and rezed and as I rezed I saw nekid me surrounded by onlookers

I didn't bother to hit logout or anything I just hit the quit X button and blushed very hard :D

so yeah i uh wonder if I rezed enough for anyone to see :P

A year ago I accidentally dropped my Xcite Bits on a red carpet and couldn't pick it up, I didn't even know about Transparent Mode since it was invisible. So I had to call Live help and ask them to pick it up for me, a Linden came and did it.

I was so embarressed but he said that he did it all the time! :D

That's what I never figured out about their asking me to turn off my chat log. It creeped me out. Maybe they were just paranoid and guessed I had it on. He or she was a very "old" resident going back to 2004 or so. I thought the person may have had a souped up security HUD I didn't know about.

Maybe I was being gullible. --KC

The Linden had trouble finding it on the red carpet too, so he used an object finder and he asked me to give me the exact name of the object. And my object had a raunchy name :(

You are my kinda gal. The second time around when I bought land, I got it all together instead of a patchwork that made it clear to my neighbors that I would probably pay anything to get that one parcel right in the middle of it all.

My biggest mistake was not trying out SL sooner. I really regret that.

Though if I had, I wouldn't be called "Rimbaud", so it worked out well in the end.

So funny...
07-30-2007 07:12
These are so funny. Makes me laugh about all the things I've done. Guess we've all been there, even though at the time it only seems like it's happening to us.

My latest
At my job at a club, man friend came in unbeknowingly had im'd me to tell me but didn't notice because my all time fav song came on and everyone was chatting and WOOHOOING at the club anyway. So little while later I im'd him to tell him place was rocking. He had left by then, IM'd me back to say "I KNOW" and was not too happy. Felt so bad!
