Should LL do something about this before official action?

I'm sure they will have a good laugh about this hahaha

You are right, I contacted a well known web comic producer. It should be good for some material and a laugh.

"I played a Linden,
... and I lost to him."

Not only did he beat me at a game of Go but he was very slippery at dodging my questions, including not telling me which Linden I need to speak to about this issue.

He did add me as a friend though. So not a complete loss; I guess? ^.^

If anyone knows which Linden has an office hour and would discus this with me, I would be delighted.

Okay, I spoke to *someone* about this. They think that lawyers are why Lindens are so quiet about this.
The rule of thumb seems to be, is it played in a Casino and can you lose intentionally? Pull a slot lever and you have no control over whether you win or lose, you can only play or opt out.

I still think there needs to be a very clear and detailed description of what is skill and what is wagering. I think this has the potential to bite Linden Labs in the bad place.

LL can't discuss anything legal. If you want an answer to a legal question you must Indiana Jones your way through the tunnel of doom and ask the ancient templar lawyer directly.

Surely if they are allowing Zyngo then they must have all this worked out and have the answers from the lawyer already?

not disputing that. but the lindens are forbidden from discussing legal maters and the lawyers never post online. They are lawyers after all and can't put anything in writing unless it is a legal document.

Legal documents have been put online before now.

Then LL should be banned..

When starting a bussine in Second Life its always a gamle if it survives due unforseen price hikings.. and downtimes .. and lag..

So you cannot know these things, its a risk.. its a game, its GAMBLING :O

Xd

Ok on a serious note, I think poker should indeed return as in my eyes its not a gambling game.

I am inclined to agree with you, Adam.

However, what poker is or is not in your eyes, or mine, doesn't mean anything in the final reckoning.

This is a matter of United States law, at the federal level. The only people who's opinions mean anything whatsoever are the federal judges, and the lawyers who are paid to influence their opinions.

I'm not either of those, are you?

Poker is a skill game it is banned by "name," (that means the game itself, can't just call it something else.) Meaning it is just excluded on the basis of association.
