It is like fads that keep coming back. There are bound to be certain topics that will keep returning and returning. Wait! maybe it is more like the infamous cat in that silly song.

First off, I want to thank all of you for your caring, concern and well wishes for my father and family - it is always wonderful to have support from all corners, even deviant one's like this (My Favorite Deviants).

The update is good: father came through the operation very well, and recovery is progressing a little ahead of what was expected.

We were very fortunate - some very talented surgeons were available to work on him, and they were able to get him into the operating room on short notice (was admitted through the emergency room, so was not a scheduled operation with all the right people lined up in advance).

I am still a bit tired, and back in the hospital (on laptop again), so will only be in and out a bit for now, but want to thank all of you again for your support...

New Forum Topic - How did you get in to SecondLife originally?

OK, wife and I beta tested TSO. Then when it went live we payed the 50bucks each to get the "founder edition" software. We played for awhile after and then someone there mentioned SL. It was excepting beta testers. We signed up on the site and got in. We wandered around and thought the avatars were butt ugly (this was before skins and prim hair, etc it was March 03). We goofed off with the gestures, flew around and got bored quick. So back to TSO we went. VERY soon after that we were asked by friends to try There.com out. We did and after being accepted to beta test it we found we liked it. Much easier to get around in then SL was.

I still messed around with SL while playing There and TSO. People were friendly but I was pretty shy and stood back and found myself just kinda flying around looking at stuff.

So There.com was going live. They offered a lifetime membership. At around the same time SL sent an email for a lifetime membership that included a big chunk of land with free tier for life. SL wanted something like 200 bucks (can't remember exactly how much) and There.com wanted around 30ish. We went with the There.com package. If only I knew then what I know now.

More to the story, but that is the jist of it.

Not a big story on that. There just became a ghost town and there was not much going on anymore. I still have some money on my toon there and lots of items. In the meantime I kinda be-bopped back and forth until a girl that roomed at a charisma skilling place in TSO wanted me to hang out with her and her friends in SL. So we bummed around a lot more here then in TSO (mostly to not have to host all the time at the house we were in.) My wife saw the stuff over my shoulder that we were doing and decided to come back again. She created a new account and other then a few months she left we have been here ever since and not played other online games (except a little Guild Wars now and then).

We both have our beta accounts back and were using them as our mains for the last 6 months or so. She still builds under her Elise toon mostly but we go back and forth between them as the mood strikes.

Some of the details are fuzzy as there was a lot of switching back and forth between virtual world games but we have been playing online together since '99 with the TSO beta days.

So on the subject of that guy.. is he just a forum troll or is he/was he really part of the "clique" (yes, I know there is no clique)

I don't know how to take him except as a total ass.

I always considered him to be the Clique's House Troll....He's cranky, but he speaks his mind without flinching, stays true to what he says and doesn't whine and pout when someone throws it back at him. There are worse.

I always thought he spends way to much time with the residents at his work.

Yeah, that has crossed my mind too.

@Mac: he just likes to push buttons, and because of his job he knows which ones to push, especially with certain people. Maybe I cut him slack because he's a New Yorker. He has a dog, so he can't be all bad.

LOL. Yeah, I see him trying to push buttons on people. I laughed him off the time or two before when he said something to me. I just didn't understand where that last one was coming from. It was random.

What does he do for a job that makes him good at this? Please tell me he is not a psychiatrist or something. rofl
