I was born on the 13th of April,it wasn't a Friday but I'm not superstitious. In fact 13 is one of my favorite numbers. When I played basketball and softball in school, it was the number I always wore. And my first time in Vegas I hit 13 on the Roulette Wheel, twice in a row. Happy Friday the 13th everybody. Bring it on!

Thanks, all, for the support (and cranking of radios *g*) - I appreciate it.

Looks like either SL or the Forum Cartel Hangout doesn't want to hear me whining, though. I just opened up the LM I have for it, only to be told the following:

/me goes to crawl under the duvet for a nap. Nobody loves me! *snif*

I play the radio all day now that I have an office. Before I was in a cube, so I would use my headphones / mic to listen. People coming to see me always thought I was on the phone. I mostly listen to talk radio (yes I am one of them). My favorite show is Walton and Johnson in the AM. They have a website waltonandjohnson.com

Skell crank it dude!!

what exactly makes Ann a celebrity?
(no offense to ann, I am just wondering why people make a big deal out of meeting her in world)

I have met a lot of folks, both from the forums, and not, and would not really consider any of them celebrities

granted it was cool meeting some of them

so... why is ann a celebrity?

1. Because she's posted so much that everyone knows her.
2. Because she's beautiful, and photogenic
3. Because she enters modeling contest and makes the finals.

But mostly...it's because we needed a Forum Celebrity, and Ann was handy at the time. Ann's celebrityhood is a sort of running gag, like Trout's "I can't get a girl" line, or Brenda's panties.

/me waves to Ann...When you're finished with the gophers, can I have your autograph? It's for my little niece. She wants to grow up to be a Neko just like you!

Rha! you are a celebrity in your own right. I was so tempted to ask for your autograph when you showed me around your shop.

...there are some people here I can 't imagine just addressing.

Everyone...here, and in RL...is just people, no matter their reputation.

I've had a few people put ME up on that pedestal. As a counterbalance, let me tell you about the first time I met Amaranthim in SL...she wanted some steam in her spa, so I sent her a freebie particle emitter.

She IM's me a few minutes later, in a semi-panic. Her bathroom is filled with steam and she can't find the emitter to turn it off.

Well, I'm embarrassed, because I *knew* this gadget is set, by default, to produce spray for a rather large waterfall, and I hadn't really warned her. So I TP over to see if I can fix it. Sure enough, the bathroom and half the house is enveloped in a cloud of fog...it took maybe ten minutes to find the dang thing and get rid of it.

Meanwhile, her partner shows up and puts in a more reasonable little cloud of steam in about five seconds.

Amara was very gracious...she never said a word about me trashing her bathroom, and gave me a tour of her lovely home and grounds.

The fact that she posted pics of her Ass was enough for me..... :p

Annie is one of my A list SL people, and I guess could be a Celebrity because of how she is taking SL and running with it. She is enjoying it to the nth degree, and always has something helpful to say to help others enjoy it.. Go see her pics over at SLU to get an idea of what she is doing, it makes to dizzy trying to keep up.

I always say Celebrity is a stae of mind beholden to the observer. We all decide who we admire, for a variety of reasons. One person's celbrity is another's crashing bore.

It's nice when someone notices anything you do in a complimenary way, but it can be uncomfortable. I went into a club last year, around the time when my underwear was being passed around like a bowl of mashed potatoes. The Owner/DJ evidently was a Lurker and so were several of his customers. He made note of my presence, and it got a little gushy. But at least no one asked for my underwear.

Ack! well, let's see if we can find something else to think about...

According to Wikipedia, you share your birthdate, 4/13/70, with:

Monty Brown, American professional wrestler
Gerry Creaney, Scottish footballer
Rick Schroder, American actor
Szilveszter Csollány, Hungarian gymnast, Olympic gold medalist
Ricardo Rincon, Mexican baseball player

lol. I guess that is the by product of 12 years of Catholic School, and the fact that I grew up in a house where between my Dad and 2 older brothers, the testoserone level was always at full, so I had to stay on my toes to keep up with them. And life in general has hardened me a bit as well.

Wow, the concept of "celebrity" in SL has never even occurred to me, except maybe the creators of some utterly spectacular build visited by thousands, or a Linden who's actually done something celebrated by many.

I tend to think of residents as people spending some time at a keyboard.

I have no imagination

:D

...Obviously, she's no better than any of us. Nor is her ass. Well, maybe it is. Unless there is a contest, we'll never know for sure ;)

Hmmm. Now there's a competition I can really get behind. :D

Seriously...I think we ought to have a Cartel "Best Bum" Contest. Maybe we could charge for votes, and donate the proceeds to RFL or something.

Gerry Creaney is no boast. Rick Schroder was probably a more accomplished centre-forward.

There you go. It's all in our minds. I tend to get goosebumpy when I see a content creator in world, whose work I admire as well. For example, being the helicopter enthusiast I am , I was thrilled to see Jillian Callahan at Abbott's one day as she was testing new Havok 4 ships, I assume. I waited quite a few minutes, then sent her a brief IM saying how much I enjoyed her work and thanking her for her efforts. It's the same with any others I happen to see. I always say Hi, and thanks, and move on.

Shocked me too! brenda is younger than my mum!....I know that doesn't sound like a compliment lol, but I haven't met many people in SL younger than her.
