Thanks- :)- I will live- I always do. It's just hard to want to. Oh well..
Wouldn't it be wonderful if there were some magic words that would fix everything when you feel this way? For what is worth I'm sending you some love and hugs and flowers.

Wow... Ray, CONGRATS!

Yes I'm still a frozen-assed ghost in my own doorway. It IS rather picturesque, actually. I filed a ticket on me last night at about 22:00, no action or reply yet.

Is there a pic?

I've been where you are, it hurts sometimes. You just have to keep getting into the box and swinging. You have people here who care about you and hopefully in RL as well. Let them help you, take whatever they can give. But in the end, you will get yourself through it. Find one thing, no matter how inconsequential it may be to latch onto, and use that as your dailt inspiration. You will make it. Just the wit and humor you display here can get you through. You can add my name to the list of people with a spare ear and hug.

Wow. Thanks to everyone who kept their pledge and paid me.

Very strange to see my balance go up for a reason other than stipend. It almost makes me want to sell land again. Almost.

Gonna pass on the donations to Miss Tempel this afternoon. I'm hoping we hear from Oryx soon that her dog is doing much better.

Here's my secret to how I won for those taking a stab at post #20,000: Kept refreshing the thread. Wrote my reply ahead of time in a new window. When the thread hit 9998 I hit send.

I think it also helped to be clueless about the prize pool and have no vested interest in the outcome.

All I can come up with is that she has led a long and hard working life on the Siberian steppes.

Imagination challenge: tell us a story from her life.

Romanian woman who poses as super secret undercover agent gets spotted (and photographed) speaking into her ultra micro fingernail phone. Last time she was caught she lost an eye. When will she learn to be more stealth.

/me nods.

She married young (distant cousin) and had 9 children, (two of which are no longer living), 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

My grandma always kept her front steps scrupulously scrubbed and shipshape, and was a very sprightly 97 when she was tragically killed in a freak hovercraft accident.

I don't see why this old bint looks so rough and had a hard life just because she's Siberian.

Imagination challenge: tell us a story from her life.

One of the original developers of a style of music known as the Harmonica Blues. She's toured all through Asia, Europe, the US and South America, but has been shunned in her native home of Canada where they keep saying, "Keep dat caterwallin' down, eh!" And drove her out of the country with hockey sticks. She landed in Memphis where she fell in love with Ricardo McPheeblefister, a noted jazz musician who was the first to recognize the marketing potential of her unique brand of harminica riffs. Known for wearing white suits with little black ribbon bowties and giant cowboy hats, the flamboyant McPheeblefister booked her in gigs all across the world and even got her bit parts in such Hollywood classics as Buggered on the Bayou and Old Rebel Yeller (the story of a Civil War veteran who got rabies and had to be shot).

In later years, McPheeblefister absconded with her fortune and ran off to the Grand Caymans with his 23-year old secretary Lotta Boobenheimer. Destitute, lonely, and with her eyesight, hearing and legendary harmonica skills failing, she now lives a sad and solitary life in a trailer park outside of Lodi, CA, where, Oh Lord, she's stuck...again....

(NOTE: I am, in no way, making light of your grandmother's passing)

But...

Was your grandma's hovercraft full of eels? Is that what happened?

ok people's. the time has come. i need to get serious. i HAVE TO find some summertime work.

i have some options, but most involve physical outdoor labor, of which i am trying to avoid because my allergies are evil. but i am not totally against it, as it would simply replace my current exercise regime.

but if possible, i think it'd be interesting to try something "from home", although i'm not quite certain what tha twould be. if you have an idea that is sound, i would love to hear it.

edit: for the record, this is a serious inquiry and prostitution is out of the question.
