I'm fascinated by these tasteful lights. I wonder how they get that lens flare effect. Just an alpha texture maybe? Everybody looks spiffy!

@Rhonda - omg, what a fantastic dress! It goes perfectly with your skin tone and hair!
Mom has the Kennedy funeral on the TV. I'm done with the vacuuming and am captive at the dining room table while she washes the floors. So, while I vacuumed, there was this incredibly boring priest on TV. It sounded like he was reading "Eulogy for generic famous male." Even Mom said, "God, that man is boring!" I said, "It sounds like he never even heard of Ted Kennedy before yesterday afternoon." "No, he's a personal friend." "Yikes!" Of course, like most boring speakers, he spoke for a LONG time. I went out to get some cleaning supplies and snacks. When I came back, Ted's son Ted spoke. He looked and sounded vaguely like James Spader. There were two things that I particularly liked, which will probably sound like BS when I say them, but they were quite real when he said them. He talked about how he was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 12, and one of his legs was amputated. Soon after, there was a heavy snowfall, so his father got out a sled and invited him to sled down their steep driveway. The boy was still having trouble adjusting to his artificial limb, and he slipped on the ice, fell, and started to cry. "I can't do this!" he said. "I can't climb that hill. I will never be able to climb that hill." His father picked him up and said, "I know you can do this. You can do anything. And you and I will climb this hill together, even if it takes us all day." (And so you know, you go "Oh, crap, too metaphorical, but... boo hoo hoo!" ![]() Another characteristic bit: When the senator would get back to Cape Cod on the weekends, he'd get out on the water as soon as possible to practice sailing maneuvers. They'd be out there long after the others had left the water, and young Ted asked, exasperated, "Why are we ALWAYS the last ones out on the water?" The senator said, "The sailors we compete against are smarter and more talented than us. But the reason we will beat them in the race is because we work harder than they do." . _____________________

Seven, I love your forum avatar pic. Very fresh and lots of subtle mood. And I appreciate your thoughts on Kennedy. I too am moved by the send off he's getting. One wouldn't automatically assume he was such a good parent.

This makes me think about designing some new clothes myself. It is really lovely. There have been a couple of things that made me look back at when I did some creating and running a store recently. I Have had more than a passing interest in just about everything and I have recently been thinking that if I started to build agin I shoud limit what I do to just one or two aspects. Scripted furniture and poses or something like that. I have a friend I helped when she was new to SL. Showed her the tools. Tried to explain what an alpha texture was. Helped get her blender import/export working. That sort of stuff. I can pick up the technical stuff quickly. But she has an amazing artistic talent for just about anything. She dropped by earlier to show me a couple of dresses she is working on. O M G!!! The level of detail is stunningly beautiful. She had a prim belt for one gown that was vine work with gem roses and leaves. I do have a level of pride in knowing I helped to teach her how to build but in perspective it is like being the person that taught Monet to mix paint. ![]() ![]() |

@3Ring: Hugs, and wishing you the best. Been there recently myself. @Lil: thanks for the heads-up about the free furniture. Everyone else, you are all still beautiful. Bedtime now. Nite. |

![]() One thing about Indyra's. . .the demo's for her shoes are horrible. Hard to tell what they really look like from the front. ![]() Rhonda, I spotted the dress that you have while I was there tonight, and I have to say that you do it far better justice than the model on the pic ![]() Night all- _____________________
